DONALD F. AMANN
WESTERNPORT - Donald F. "Buck" Amann, 79, of 427 Walnut St., Westernport, died Monday, Oct. 25, 1999, at his residence.
Born in Westernport on Aug. 28, 1920, he was the son of the late John B. and Annie (Kady) Amann. He also was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
"Buck" was a member of Saint Peter's Catholic Church, Westernport. He retired from Westvaco Corp. with 33 years of service, having worked in the receiving store. He also drove a school bus for the Allegany Board of Education for 25 years. Mr. Amann was an Army Veteran of World War II, a member of Queens Point V.F.W. #6775, McCoole, and an avid hunter and outdoorsman. He was a family man and loved his grandchildren very much.
Surviving are his beloved wife, Helen (Broadwater) Amann; two sons, Donnie Amann and wife Diana, Rawlings, and Stephen Amann and wife Diana, Westernport; four grandchildren, Ashlee, Laura, Carissa and Britney Amann; and one niece, Vonnie Kirk and husband James, Hagerstown.
The family will receive friends at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Christian wake service will be held there at 9 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Peter's Catholic Church Thursday at 11 a.m. with Father James Hannon as celebrant.
Interment will be in the Sunset Memorial Park, Cumberland.
RUTH V. ALDRIDGE
MOUNT SAVAGE - Ruth Virginia Aldridge, 80, of Old School Road, died Sunday, Nov. 14, 1999, at her residence.
Born March 22, 1919, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Roy and Anna (Wisner) Pitzer. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Howard C. "Howdy" Aldridge.
Mrs. Aldridge was a retired registered nurse having worked at the Miner's Hospital, Frostburg.
Surviving are two sons, Richard L. Aldridge, Beltsville, and Gary R. Aldridge, Greenbelt; two daughters, Nancy L. Hedgelen, Clayton, Calif., and Jane E. Farrow, Richmond, Va.; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Margaret "Peggy" Aldridge, Frostburg, and Dorothy Mastin, Erlanger, Ky.
Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, P.A., 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted there Thursday at 9 p.m. with the Rev. George M. Harpold officiating. The body will then be cremated.
Private inurnment services will be held at a later date in the Saint George's Episcopal Cemetery, Mount Savage.
The family requests that memorials be directed to the Mount Savage Volunteer Fire Company and Ambulance Rescue Squad.
LOUIS W. CRIGER
MOUNT SAVAGE - Louis William Criger, 75, of Mount Savage, died Wednesday, Oct. 20, 1999, at the Ravenwood Nursing Home, Baltimore.
Born Jan. 13, 1924, in Wellersburg, Pa., he was the son of the late John and Mary E. (Blank) Criger. He also was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
Mr. Criger was a former band builder at the Kelly Springfield Tire Company. He was Catholic by faith, and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
Surviving are two sisters, Kathleen Phillips, Geneva, Ohio, and Rose E. Criger, Mt. Savage.
Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, P.A., 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 8 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted there on Friday at 8 p.m. with the Sister Joan Minella, S.S.N.D., officiating.
Military honors will be accorded by members of Old Rail Post #6025 V.F.W.
The body will be cremated following the service.
EDGAR E. BAILEY
CUMBERLAND - Friends will be received for Edgar Eugene Bailey at Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday at 11 a.m.
Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.

HERMAN F. APPOLD
TAOS, Mo. - Herman F. Appold, 78, of Taos, formerly of Cumberland, Md., died Sunday, March 14, 1999, at his home.
He was born Dec. 12, 1920, in Cumberland, a son of Bert and Meady Wagner Appold.
He was married
April 14, 1951, in Cumberland to Marie McBee, who survives at the home.
He worked for the Celanese Rayon Plant from 1937-1951, the Yacht Company from 1952-1965, and for Westinghouse from 1971 until his retirement in 1982. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in France and Belgium during World War II.
He is also survived by two daughters, Cindy Wieberg, of Linn, and Malinda Prichett of Reed Springs; one son, Fred Appold of Taos; four granddaughters; one step granddaughter; and one step grandson.
Friends will be received from 1 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday at the Houser-Millard - Jefferson City Chapel, 2613 W. Main St., Jefferson City, Mo.
Funeral services were held at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, March 16, 1999, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Directors - Jefferson City Chapel.
Committal services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 19, 1999, in the Chapel of Rocky Gap Veterans cemetery at Cumberland.
CURTIS L. ARMSTRONG
ELLERSLIE - Curtis Lee Armstrong, 50, of Gardner Avenue, Ellerslie, died Friday, Dec. 10, 1999, in Ashland, Ky.
Born May 21, 1949, in Rockwood, Pa., he was the son of the late Walter Paul Armstrong.
Surviving are his mother, Martha (Pyle) Armstrong, Rockwood; wife, Janet Marie (Madden) Armstrong; two daughters, Jennifer Lee Armstrong and Tina Marie Armstrong, both of Somerset, Pa.; one son, Robert Curtis and wife Tara Marie, Myrtle Beach, S.C., three brothers, Robert, Rockwood, David, Markleton, and Dennis, Rockwood; three sisters, Deborah Stahl, Sipesville, Rachel Armstrong, Rockwood, and Nancy Bruner, Somerset; and one grandchild, Ebby Rose Houpt.
Mr. Armstrong was a self-employed truck driver.
Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Hyndman, Pa., on Tuesday, Dec. 14 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and on Wednesday, Dec. 15 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Thursday, Dec. 16 at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Kenneth Korns officiating.
Interment will be in the Porter Cemetery.
RUTH A. CAMPBELL (MARTIN)
OAKLAND - Ruth A. Campbell, 75, of 114 Jasper Riley Road, Oakland, died Tuesday, Aug. 3, 1999, at her home following a lengthy illness.
Born Oct. 5, 1923, in Oakland, she was a daughter of the late Owen U. Martin and Leola (Schlossnagle) Martin.
Mrs. Campbell was a member of the Loch Lynn United Brethren in Christ Church and attended the Deep Creek Baptist Church.
Surviving are her husband of 56 years, Walter F. Campbell; two daughters, Carole Jean Forman and husband Thomas, Folkston, Ga., and Katherine L. Schenk and husband Douglas, Oakland; one granddaughter, Jennifer Natherson, Jacksonville, Fla.; four brothers, Charles "June" Martin, Loch Lynn, Kenneth R. Martin, Mountain Lake Park, Billy R. Martin, Daytona Beach, Fla., and Harry L. Martin, Oakland; two sisters, Hazel M. Kelley, Uniontown, Pa., and Gladys E. Warnick, Cresaptown; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Durst Funeral Home, Oakland, on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Donald Wilson officiating.
Interment will be in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery.
The family suggests that memorials take the form of contributions to the Hospice of Garrett County.
