JOHN E. 'PONE' BLANK
ZIHLMAN - John E. 'Pone' Blank, 82, of Zihlman, died Monday, May 10, 1999, at his home.
Born Sept. 9, 1916, in Zihlman, he was the son of the late Charles E. and Mary Belle (Stevens) Blank. He was also preceded in death by two brothers; and two sisters.
Mr. Blank was a former owner of Blank's Tavern, Zihlman. He was a World War II veteran, having served in the U.S. Army Air Force. He was a member of Allegany United Methodist Church, Mount Savage V.F.W., Old Rail Post #6025, Cumberland Republican Club, and a life member of Barrelville Sportsman's Club.
Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Hazel E. (Hilton) Blank; two sons, Johnny Blank and wife, Dee, Mount Savage, and Charles Blank, Zihlman; one daughter, Terry Bennett and husband, Robert, Zihlman; six grandchildren, Jeffrey, Holly, Lori and Jamie Blank, and Matthew and Cody Bennett; one sister, Eva Rubenstein and husband, Harold, McLean, Va.; and one sister-in-law, Regina Blank, Zihlman.
Friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral Home, P.A., 60 W. Main St., Frostburg, on Tuesday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. George M. Harpold officiating.
Interment will be in Rocky Gap Veterans Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Johnny, Charles and Jeffrey Blank, and Matthew, Bob and Cody Bennett.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Frostburg Library or to the Allegany United Methodist Church.
AGNES H. BLOCHER
MIDLOTHIAN - Agnes (Hott) Blocher, 87, formerly of Midlothian, died Monday, Feb. 15, 1999, at Gladys Spellman Nursing Home, Cheverly.
Born Jan. 25, 1912, in Carlos, she was the daughter of the late Archie and Edith (Stevenson) Hott. She was also preceded in death by her husband, John T. Blocher; five sisters, Arlene Suthfan, Edith Fether, Jane Weakley, Goldie Hott and Pearl Smith; and two brothers, Archie Hott and William Hott.
Surviving are three daughters, Lillian Chiles and husband, Walter, Greenbelt, with whom she had resided, Nancy Fink and husband, Richard, Rochelle, Texas, Wanda Fisher and husband, Charles, Riverdale; three sons, Johnnie Blocher and wife, Joan, Santa Rosa, Calif., Leonard Blocher and wife, Shirley, Indianhead, and Tommie Davis; 22 grandchildren; three sisters, Martha DeVault, Carlos, Myrtle Jones, Richmond, Va., and Estella Porter, Lonaconing; and one brother, Thomas Hott, Kensington.
Friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral Home, P.A., 60 W. Main St., Frostburg, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. William G. Boyer officiating.
Interment will be in Johnson Cemetery.
THELMA C. CARTER
RANDALLSTOWN - Thelma Catherine (Stark) Carter, 84, of Randallstown, Baltimore County, formerly of Frostburg, died Tuesday, April 20, 1999, at Howard County General Hospital.
Born in Frostburg, she was a daughter of the late Charles Stark and the late Dulcie (Fair) Stark. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Forest Franklin Griffith, and her second husband, Bernard Lloyd Carter Sr.
Mrs. Carter was a retired Registered Nurse at Northwest Hospital, Randallstown. She was a graduate of Cumberland Memorial Hospital as a Registered Nurse.
She is survived by a daughter, Kathie Caccamisi, Randallstown; a stepson, Bernard Carter Jr.; and grandchildren, Deena and Joe Caccamisi, and Kimberly Carter.
Friends were received at the Loring Byers Funeral Directors, 8728 Liberty Road, Randallstown, Thursday, April 22, from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. M. Shelia McCurdy of the Mount Olive United Methodist Church, officiating.
Interment will be in the Mount Olive cemetery at Randallstown.
RONALD LEE BOBO
CUMBERLAND - Ronald Lee Bobo, 33, of Cumberland, died Friday, July 16, 1999, as a result of an automobile accident in Beans Cove, Pa.
He was born on Aug. 11, 1965, in Cumberland, the son of Charles A. Bobo, Cumberland, and the late Jean E. (Timbrook) Bobo.
He was a 1984 graduate of Fort Hill High School. He was an avid racing fan throughout the tri-state area, a 12-year employee of the Cumberland Times-News as a carrier, and drove a tractor trailer prior to working with the newspaper.
In addition to his father he is survived by these brothers and sister, Roger Bobo, San Antonio, Texas, Patty Sherman and husband, Ed, Cumberland, Ralph Bobo and wife, Cindy, Cumberland, and Jack Bobo and wife, Linda, Oldtown; his best friend, Billy Johnson, Cumberland; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends will be received in the Hafer Chapel of the Hills Mortuary, 1302 National Highway, LaVale, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted on Monday at 11:30 a.m. in the funeral home chapel.
Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Cumberland.
Pallbearers will be Billy Johnson, Kevin Lowery, Kenny Lowery, Kevin Bobo, Allen Bobo and Michael Bobo.
EDWARD F. BOCK
CUMBERLAND - Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated for Edward F. Bock on March 23 at St. Catherine of Sienna Church in Great Falls, Va. Services were conducted by Father Guest.
The son of Edward C. and Elizabeth (Langley) Bock, he was a native of Cumberland.
Mr. Bock is survived by his wife, Ruth (Allen) Bock. He is also survived by two sons, Michael and David; a sister, Jeanniene (Bock) Smith.
Interment was in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Herndon, Va.
GEORGE A. BOCH
LAVALE - George A. Boch, 79, of LaVale, died Tuesday, May 25, 1999, at Lions Manor Nursing Home, Cumberland, Md.
His body was donated to the Human Gift Registry at West Virginia University, Morgantown, W.Va.
Born in LaVale on Aug. 23, 1919, he was the son of the late George H. and Ruth Burkey Boch.
Mr. Boch was a life member of the LaVale Volunteer Fire Department Inc., and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was former owner/partner of Boch Hauling Service of LaVale with his brother, Paul. Later he was employed with Burkey Furniture of LaVale, and the Amoco Gas Station in the Narrows.
He was a member of SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Cumberland. He is survived by three brothers, Vincent B. Boch and his wife, Ginny, Bel Air, Md., Richard A. Boch and wife, Catherine, Pittsburgh, Pa., and Paul L. Boch and wife, Susannah, LaVale.
There will be no viewing, but a Memorial Mass will be held at a later date at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Cumberland.
A graveside service will be held at a later date.

RUBY E. BOETTNER
FROSTBURG - Ruby Ellen Boettner, 87, of Frostburg, died Tuesday, Dec. 28, 1999, in Lions Manor Nursing Home.
Born Oct. 1, 1912, in Avilton, she was the daughter of the late John and Annie (Broadwater) Weitzell. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Roy K. Boettner; brother, Clyde Weitzell; and one great-grandson, Jimi McDonald.
Mrs. Boettner was a member of Frostburg United Methodist Church. She retired from the Allegany County Board of Education as a cafeteria worker at Beall High School. She was a member of Mountain Chapter 15, Order of Eastern Star.
Survivors are a son, Roy J. Boettner and wife, Marion, Frostburg; one sister, Viola Densmore, Frostburg; sister-in-law, Mary Weitzell, Frostburg; one brother, Cliffton Weitzell, Cresaptown; seven grandchildren, R. Keith Boettner and wife, Melanie, Little Rock, Ark., Teri Ruppenkamp and husband, Mike, Cumberland, Nancy McGowan and husband, Mike, Midland, Robert Stafford, Frostburg, Harry Stafford and wife, Beverly, Lonaconing, Marion McDonald and husband, Richard, Cumberland, and Betsy Green and husband, Kenny, Frostburg; eight great-grandchildren; and three great-great-granddaughters.
Friends will be received at the Hafer Frost Mansion Funeral Home, 58 Frost Ave., Frostburg, MD 21532, on Wednesday, Dec. 29, 1999, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. There will be a memorial service conducted by the Mountain Chapter 15, Order of Eastern Star, Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the Hafer Frost Mansion chapel on Thursday, Dec. 30, 1999, at 1 p.m. with the Rev. T. William Preston, officiating.
Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Cumberland.
