ODESSA J. CONRAD
CUMBERLAND - Odessa Jewell Conrad, 82, of 209 Davidson St., Cumberland, died Thursday, Aug. 12, 1999, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born May 29, 1917, in Moorefield, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Charles Edward Jewell and the late Sara (Cline) Jewell. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Mrs. Conrad was a former employee of Burk's Restaurant. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and a charter member of the Eagles Auxiliary 245, Cumberland.
Surviving are her husband, Paulmer Conrad, Cumberland; a son, Allen Shaffer; a stepson, Harry Franklin Conrad, Lusby, Md.; three step-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Lee A. McDaniel officiating.
Interment will be in the Lybarger Cemetery.
MARCI MIA BONDY
CHICAGO - Marci Mia (Vorbach) Bondy, 36, of Chicago, formerly of Romney, W.Va., died Friday, June 4, 1999, in Chicago.
She was the loving daughter of Jack and Julia Vorbach, Romney; wife of William M. Bondy, Chicago; sister of Don Vorbach, Kearneysville, W.Va.; and daughter-in-law of William E. and Mary Anne Bondy, Chicago.
A Memorial Mass is being offered at Old St. Patrick's Church in Chicago on Tuesday, June 8, at 10 a.m.
A Memorial Service may be held in Romney at a later date.
NELLIE MAE BONNER
GRANTSVILLE - Nellie Mae Bonner, 89, formerly of 96 West Main St., Frostburg, died Thursday, Sept. 30, 1999, at the Goodwill Mennonite Nursing Home, Grantsville, where she had been a resident.
Born May 23, 1910, in Augusta, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late John and Emma (Pownell) McDonald. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn H. Bonner, in 1967; one sister, Beulah Detrick, and one son, Carroll Bonner.
Mrs. Bonner was retired from the Celanese Corporation and formerly worked at Pulse Communications, Falls Church, Va.
Mrs. Bonner was a member of the Westernport Church of the Brethren.
Surviving are one daughter, Elaine E. Palmer, Brookville, Conn.; one son, Darrell E. Bonner; one sister, Goldie Housley, both of Marbury, Ala.; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted there on Sunday at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Ervin Huston officiating.
Interment will be in the Philos Cemetery, Westernport.
WILLIAM P. CLAAR
CUMBERLAND - William P. Claar, age 82, of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., formerly of Cumberland, died at the Westwood Retirement Community, Fort Walton Beach.
He was born June 30, 1917, in Garrett, Pa., and was a son of the late Charles Sanford Claar and Bertha (Bowlby) Claar. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Olive Elizabeth (Ryland) Claar.
Mr. Claar was retired from Nabisco, was a U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II, a member of the Cumberland American Legion, and Oakland Lodge #2481 B.P.O.E.
He is survived by one brother, Charles B. Claar, Harrisburg, Pa.
A memorial service will be conducted in the Chapel at Rocky Gap on Friday, July 9, at 1 p.m.
Interment will follow.
DANIEL W. BOONE
CUMBERLAND - Daniel Wilbur Boone, 72, of Willow Valley Apartments, Furnace Street, Cumberland, passed away Tuesday, May 11, 1999, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born in Cumberland on Aug. 17, 1926, he was a son of the late Herbert Lee Boone and the late Nellie (Poland) Boone. He also was preceded in death by two brothers, Leonard and John Boone; and a sister, Mary Foltz.
Mr. Boone was a retired employee of the B&O; Railroad, where he was a machinist. He was a veteran of World War II in the U.S. Army. He was a member of Potomac Lodge #100 A.F. & A.M., and Cumberland Scottish Rite Bodies.
Surviving are three daughters, Linda Luci and husband, Alex, Erie, Mich., Sharon Clark and husband, Charles H., Jr., Cumberland, Joyce Lapp and husband, George Jr., Cumberland; two brothers, Arthur Boone, Wiley Ford, W.Va., Melvin Boone, Martinsburg, W.Va.; two sisters, Edith Athey, Cumberland, Pauline Foltz, Cumberland; three grandchildren, Trey Clark, Shallon Smith, Sacha Smith and fiance Jeff Scott; one great-grandson, Andrew Jacob Scott.

Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home by the Rev. Lawrence Frye.
Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park. Full military honors will be accorded at graveside by the local Combined Veterans Honor Guard.
Potomac Lodge #100 A.F. & A.M. will hold memorial services on Thursday evening at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Alex Luci, Trey Clark, Charles Clark Jr., George W. Lapp Jr., Jeff Scott and Shallon Smith.

NATHAN BOORDA
LAVALE - Nathan Boorda, 84, of 715 National Highway, LaVale, died Tuesday, March 23, 1999, at Memorial Hospital.
Born in South Bend, Ind., on Dec. 7, 1914, he was the son of the late Samuel and Gitel (Brunswag) Boorda. He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Frances Paula Janine Boorda and two brothers, Sol Boorda and Simon Boorda.
Mr. Boorda's education included journalism at Notre Dame, Ordnance Engineering at University of Pittsburgh, Personnel Management at Penn State, Gemology at Gemological Institute of America, and Rabbinic Training at Rabbinical Seminary of America.
He retired after 39 years as manager and office manager at Spear's Jewelers. Prior to that he was assistant sports editor for the South Bend Tribune; chief clerk for the U.S. Department of Interior; assistant manager for Rand's Drug Store; office manager for Allegheny Hardwood and Continental Wood Products and during World War II, Mr. Boorda served with the U.S. Army Ordnance Department as field representative of Ordnance and technical advisor of all Government Ordnance Material in the tri-state area.
Mr. Boodra received national recognition for originating, training and supervising the educational and manufacturing program for rapid production of the then-critically-needed 8-inch high explosive artillery shell, first produced in the United States by Kelly-Springfield Tire Company in Cumberland. Among his numerous awards from the federal government, his Ernie Pyle Award from the War Department reads: "Your brilliant work with Ordnance has reached a superior level and is of inestimable value. Your reports and writings are on a par with the famous war correspondent Ernie Pyle, and your dedication to the war effort is so distinguished that it is far beyond the call of duty."
As a member of the Z.O.A. National Executive Committee, he was frequently honored by the Zionist Organization of America for his outstanding leadership in community education to strengthen the security of the State of Israel and to further the development of peace in the Middle East. Mr. Boorda was recognized many times by the Tri-State Zionist Region as the top leader in fund raising and membership. He was a former president, board member, teacher and acting Rabbi of Beth Jacob Synagogue, and was prominent in numerous civic, religious and humanitarian projects in the tri-state area. He was also a member of B'nai B'rith and Israel Bonds.
He is survived by his widow, Helen Maxine (Siebert) Boorda; two sons, Preston Frank Ginsburg, Philadelphia, Pa., and Gary Ginsburg, New York, N.Y.; one brother, Abe Boorda, North Miami, Fla. and a number of grandsons and granddaughters.
Hafer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. As requested by the deceased, there will be no visitation or services. Private interment will be in Rest Lawn Memorial Gardens, LaVale.
ROSEANNA BOORE
MOUNT SAVAGE - Roseanna Boore, 92, of Yellow Row Road, N.W., Mount Savage, died Wednesday, Dec. 22, 1999, at the St. Vincent De Paul Nursing Center, Frostburg.
Born Oct. 6, 1907, in Mount Savage, she was the daughter of the late William and Harriet (Jenkins) Thoerig. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Norman J. Boore, in 1985; and a daughter, Dorothy A. Snyder.
Mrs. Boore was a former manager of the American Grocery Store. She was a member of St. George's Episcopal Church, Mount Savage.
Surviving are two daughters, Beulah V. Rowley, Temple Hills, and Norma L. "Peggy" Poland, Martinsburg, W.Va.; one brother, John Thoerig, Akron, Ohio; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the St. George's Episcopal Church, Mount Savage, on Monday from 10 to 11 a.m.
Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Harold Bishop officiating.
Interment will be in the St. George's Parish Cemetery.
