HARRY "PECKS" BEAN
FROSTBURG - Harry F. "Pecks"Bean, 96, of Rest Assured Living Center, Meyersdale, Pa., and formerly of 66 Broadway, Frostburg, died Tuesday, March 30, 1999, at the nursing home.
Born Sept. 24, 1902, in Frostburg, he was the son of the late Maurice and Nellie (Hershberger) Bean. He also was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia "Ginny"(Slingloff) Bean, in 1993.
Mr. Bean was a former department supervisor at the Celanese Fibers Corporation where he was employed for 24 years, and he was retired as a self-employed painter.
He was a member of the Frostburg Church of the Brethren, and the Big Savage Sportsman's Club.
Surviving are a daughter, Frances Benny and husband, Philip, Goldsboro, N.C.; a granddaughter, Bonita K. Davis and husband, Dale, San Antonio, Texas; one great-granddaughter, Camala Davis; and one great-grandson, Leland Davis; a brother, Charles "Chick"Bean, Frostburg; a sister, Nellie Hawkins, Frostburg; a niece, Roxann Haupt, Frostburg; and several other nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, P.A., 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. William Boyer officiating.
Interment will be in the Frostburg Memorial Park.
JOHN J. CALLIS
OAKLAND - John Joseph "Jay" Callis, 28, of Oakland, died Saturday, Nov. 20, 1999, as a result of an automobile accident.
Born Jan. 5, 1971, in Oakland, he was the son of C. James Callis Jr. of Oakland and Helen Marie Layman of Saint George, W.Va.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Jamie Callis.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his maternal grandmother, Mary of Oakland.
Friends may call at the Durst Funeral Home in Oakland on Monday from 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Father Chip Lee officiating.
Interment will be in the Oakland Cemetery.
EVA COWATCH
WESTERNPORT - Eva Cowatch, 68, of 524 Maryland Ave., Westernport, died Tuesday, Dec. 28, 1999, at Moran Manor Nursing Home, Westernport.
Born on Jan. 20, 1931, at Gilmore, she was the daughter of the late Clinton and Eva (Stevenson) Beeman.
Mrs. Cowatch was a homemaker and former employee of Footer Dry Cleaners, she was Pentecostal by faith, and an avid Bingo player.
Surviving are her husband of 42 years, Joseph Cowatch, of Westernport.
At Eva's request she was cremated and there will be no visitation or services.
Mrs. Cowatch's final arrangements were entrusted to Boal Funeral Home, Westernport.
VINCENT W.P. BECKER
CUMBERLAND - Vincent W.P. Becker, 90, of South Allegany Street, Cumberland, died Friday, April 9, 1999, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born Dec. 17, 1908, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Casper Michael and Elmar L. (Hollenberger) Becker. He also was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Agnes (Brookman) Becker, in 1974; and three brothers, Lawrence, Gilbert and DeSales Becker.
Mr. Becker had worked for the Crystal Laundry and then as a driver, salesman and route foreman for Pepsi-Cola, Cumberland, retiring with 30 years of service. Mr. Becker was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, the Cumberland Outdoor Club, and the South End Rod and Gun Club.
Survivors include three sons, David Becker and wife Frances, South Carolina, William 'Bill' Becker and wife Delores, Rawlings, and T. Michael Becker and wife Cathy, Cumberland; one sister, Isabelle Dawson, Florida; 20 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Also surviving are Marge Becker and Joann Becker.
Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, P.A., 202 Greene St., Cumberland, on Sunday and Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
A Christian Wake Service will be held at the funeral home on Monday at 8 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Patrick's Catholic Church on Tuesday at 9 a.m. with the Rev. Thomas R. Bevan officiating.
Interment will be in Hillcrest Burial Park.
Pallbearers will be David Becker, William Becker Jr., Andrew Becker, Aaron Becker, Paul Becker and Dustin Barb.
Honorary pallbearers will be Matthew Becker, Daniel Becker, Joshua Becker, Michael B. Becker, and Mark Becker.
ROBERT E. BEECHE SR.
ORLANDO, Fla. - Robert Earl Beeche Sr., 69, of 6601 Oil Well Road, Orlando, formerly of Cumberland, died Saturday, Oct. 30, 1999.
Mr. Beeche was the president and owner of Bob Beeche Real Estate and Medley Plaza. He was the former president of the Hialeah/Miami Springs Board of Realtors, former president of the Medley Optimist Club, and Cum Laudi graduate of the University of Miami. A popular and local commercial industrial real estate broker/owner, whose accomplishments include helping make the city of Medley one of the most successful industrial areas in Dade County, creating Medley Plaza and developing one of the first residential communities in Medley.
Surviving are five children, Robert E. Beeche Jr., Michele B. Hill, William E. Beeche, Suzanne E. Beeche, and Jason N. Beeche; 9 grandchildren; and his only sister, Mary Louise Grimm.
A great man to many and a loving man to his family, he will be missed forever.
The service for family and friends will be conducted at the Culley's Funeral Home, 1737 Riggins Road, Tallahassee, Wednesday at 2 p.m.
AUDREY A. BEEMAN
MCCOOLE - Audrey A. Beeman, 79, of 22117 Badger Lane, McCoole, died Tuesday, Dec. 28, 1999, at her residence.
Born on March 2, 1920, at Reece's Mill, W.Va., she was a daughter of the late Ira Alvin and Mary Myrtle (Borrer) Orndorff. Twice married, she was preceded in death by both husbands, Clifton E. Junkins, on Nov. 12, 1953, and Robert H. Beeman, on Feb. 9, 1979; a daughter, Helen Davis; a great-granddaughter, Amanda Arbogast; three brothers, Blair, Harold, and Coyd Orndorff; and three sisters, Iva Trumbule, Virginia Franklin, and Maxine Fogle.
Mrs. Beeman was a retired seamstress with the Keyser Garment Co. with 10 plus years of service. She was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary to Queen's Point Memorial Post 6775, VFW, McCoole, and Victory Post 155, American Legion, Westernport.
Surviving are three daughters, Carolyn Taylor, Lonaconing, Sharon Brown, Rawlings, Sharma "Pat" Jones, McCoole; one brother, Kenneth Orndorff, Tracy, Calif.; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Friends may call the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser, on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The Ladies Auxiliary of both Queens Point Memorial Post 6775, VFW and Victory Post 155, American Legion will conduct at a combined memorial service at the funeral home on Thursday at 7 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday at 11 a.m. with the Pastor Homer Beeman, officiating.
Interment will be in the Thrush Cemetery, Antioch, W.Va.
HELEN E. BEEMAN
LONACONING - Helen Elizabeth (Brown) Beeman, 88, formerly of 80 W. Main St., Lonaconing, most recently a resident of McCrea Manor Nursing Home, Alliance, Ohio, died Aug. 24, 1999, at Alliance Community Hospital.
Born May 7, 1911, in Lonaconing, she was a daughter of the late Ralph Brown and Sarah (Wells) Brown Ravenscroft. She also was preceded in death by her husband Irvin F. Beeman, July 17, 1989; one son, Ralph Beeman; three brothers, John Brown, William Brown and David Brown; and one sister, Catherine Matthews.
Mrs. Beeman was of the Methodist Faith, and a member of the Senior Citizens of Lonaconing.
Surviving are three daughters, Lila Anderson, Lonaconing, Patricia Ann Solley, Niles, Ohio, and Catherine Johnston, Alliance, Ohio; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
The family will receive friends at the Eichhorn-McKenzie Funeral Home, P.A., Lonaconing, Thursday, Aug. 26, 1999, from 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home Friday, Aug. 27, 1999, at 11 a.m., with the Rev. George Loar, officiating. Interment will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery, Moscow Mills.
