NORMA L. BROADWATER
BARTON - Norma Lee Broadwater, 62, of Lower Georges Creek Road, Barton, died Saturday, April 3, 1999, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland.
Born July 7, 1936, in Allegany County, She was a daughter of Lillian (Dove) Coffman, McCoole, and the late Charles Coffman.
Mrs. Broadwater was a homemaker and formerly attended the Bible Baptist Church, Barton.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Kenny Broadwater; one son, Kenneth 'Max' Broadwater, Cartersville, Va.; two daughters, Rhonda Lee Rafferty, Martinsburg, W.Va., Rita Kay Pysell, Barton; two brothers, Charlie Coffman, Tunnelton, W.Va., and Jim Coffman, Ocala, Fla.; two sisters, Dorothy Kasmier and Maggie LaRue, both of McCoole; seven grandchildren, Eric Broadwater, Brandy Broadwater, Daniel Rafferty, Sara Rafferty, Beth Rafferty, J.D. Doman and David Doman; and one great-grandson, Kain Alexander Doman.
The family will receive friends at the Boal Memorial Chapel, Barton, on Monday, April 5, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
The funeral service will be conducted at the chapel on Tuesday at 1 p.m. by the Rev. Jack Lancaster and Pastor Randall Larry.
Interment will be in the Laurel Hill Cemetery.
WILLIAM R. BEVER Sr.
SWANTON - William Russell Bever Sr., 66, of 158 Bever Park Lane, Swanton, died Tuesday, Sept. 21, 1999, at Potomac Valley Hospital, Keyser, W.Va.
Born July 18, 1933, in Cross, W.Va., he was the son of the late George Edison and Edith Elizabeth (Fox) Bever. He was also preceded in death by brothers, Richard Bever, George Bever, Tom Bever, and Joe Bever; two sisters, Erma Ahern and Gladys Schell.
Mr. Bever was retired from Westvaco Corp. with 43 years of service, having worked in the woodyard. He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War, a member of Chestnut Grove United Methodist Church, Hiram Lodge 103 AF and AM, Westernport, Ali Ghan Shrine Club, Cumberland, the Scottish Rite of Cumberland 32nd degree Mason, a member of Kelly Mansfield Post 52 American Legion, Piedmont, W.Va., Fraternal Order of Police lodge 40, LaVale, and member of the Deer Park V.F.W. Post 10077.
Surviving are one son, William R. Bever, Jr., Swanton; a daughter, Yvetta Compton, Swanton; three brothers, Ralph Bever, Swanton, Sam Bever, Ludlow, Ill., and John Bever, Olympia, Wash.; two sisters, Martha Marple, Swanton, and Myra Determan, Westernport; three grandchildren, Amanda Compton, John Compton, and Joseph Bever.
The family will receive friends at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at Chestnut Grove United Methodist Church, on Friday at 11 a.m.
Interment will be in the Bever Cemetery, Swanton.
Hiram Lodge 103 will hold a memorial service at the funeral home on Thursday at 7:15 p.m.
KATHERINE M. BEVERIDGE
PINTO - Katherine M. Beveridge, 80, of Pinto Road, Pinto, died Friday, Oct. 15, 1999, in Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va.
Born Jan. 30, 1919, in her family home, which is now known as the Hafer Chapel of the Hills Mortuary, LaVale, she was the daughter of the late Archibald and Etta Lee (McBride) Longerbeam. She also was preceded in death by three sisters and one brother.
Mrs. Beveridge was a member of the Cresaptown United Methodist Church and was retired from Howard Johnson.
Mrs. Beveridge was a wonderful mother and grandmother and she will be sadly missed by one daughter, Etta Lee Conley, Pinto, and husband Carl K.; a special grandson, Charles Kevin Thrasher, Cumberland; three dogs, B.J., Mitze, and Morgan; and two cats, Sissy and Nisha whom she dearly loved. Mrs. Beveridge was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Friends will be received in the Hafer Chapel of the Hills Mortuary, 1302 National Highway, LaVale, on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the Cresaptown United Methodist Church, Cresaptown, on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Harold R. McClay Jr. officiating.

EMMA C. CRITES
CUMBERLAND - Emma Catherine Crites, 85, of Lions Manor, died Saturday, Sept. 11, 1999, at Memorial Hospital.
Born January 10, 1914, in Cumberland, (North Branch), she was the daughter of the late John Hunter and Bertha (Pollock) Tipton. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert Udell Crites; her sister, Helen Tipton; and daughter-in-law, Helen Gable.
Mrs. Crites was a member of the Oliver Grove Methodist Church, member of the District 16 Fire Dept. Auxiliary, and the Oldtown Ladies Auxiliary.
Survivors include two sons, Donald Crites and special friend Shirley Switzer, Oldtown, John Robert Crites, Devlin Manor; two daughters, Sondra Wharton and husband Bill, LaVale, Diane Stafford and husband Doug, Cumberland; one sister, Dorothy Malone, Finzel; 10 grandchildren, Donna Abe, Shelly Davis and husband Chuck, Brenda Crites, Ronna Portmess and husband Warren, Troy Hamilton and wife Chris, Brent Hamilton, Chad Hamilton and wife Jennifer, Keith Stafford and wife Karen, R.J. Stafford, and Joni Stafford; 10 great-grandchildren; 5 step-grandchildren; and 13 step-great- grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, P.A., 202 Greene St., Cumberland, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
The funeral service will be held at the funeral home Monday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Tim McGregor officiating.
Interment will be in Davis Memorial Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Troy, and Chad Hamilton, Keith and R.J. Stafford, and Warren Portmess.
AUDREY M. BIGLER
WINTERSVILLE, Ohio - Audrey Mae Bigler, 60, of Wintersville, died Tuesday, Nov. 16, 1999, at Shadyside Hospital, Pittsburgh.
Born Oct. 9, 1939, in Steubenville, she was a daughter of the late Beauford "Buff" and Gladys (Boyd) Alton. She also was preceded in death by one daughter, Kathleen Bigler.
Mrs. Bigler was a member of the Cumberland (Md.) Church of Christ; and the Womens Golf Association of Cadiz Country Club. Surviving are her husband, Frank J. Bigler, whom she married
on Jan. 24, 1957; one son, Keith Bigler, Mingo Junction; one daughter, Karen Keller and husband Bill, Hagerstown, Md.; three grandchildren, Nicole Bigler, Mingo Junction, and Matthew and Jackie Keller, Hagerstown.
Friends may call at the Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Road, Wintersville, on Friday from 2 to 4 p.m., and from 7 p.m. until the time of the services.
Services will be conducted at 8:30 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Robert Hanze officiating.
Burial will be in the Fort Steuben Burial Estates, Wintersville.
DAVID E. COGAN
OAKLAND - David E. "Dave" Cogan, 72, of Dennett Road, Oakland, died Sunday, Sept. 19, 1999, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland.
Born Dec. 31, 1926, in Bedford, Pa., he was the son of the late Jake and Nellie Cogan. He also was preceded in death by one son, Wayne Cogan; and one grandson, Todd Pepple.
Mr. Cogan was a U.S. Navy veteran. He was a member of the BPO Elks Lodge 2481, Oakland; American Legion Proctor Kildow Post 2481, Oakland; and VFW Post 10077, Deer Park.
He is survived by his wife, Betty (Shaffer) Sowers Cogan, Oakland; one daughter, Nancy Pepple, Jersey Shore, Pa.; one stepdaughter, Leslie Tressler, Frederick; two stepsons, Jay Sowers, Oakland, and Wellington "Jack" Sowers; and eight grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Stewart Funeral Home, Oakland, on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, Sept. 21, 1999, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Michael Mudge officiating.
Interment will be in the Oakland Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded at the graveside by the various veterans organizations of Southern Garrett County.
