DORA E. CRABTREE
OLDTOWN - Dora E. Crabtree, 88, of Oldtown, went to be with the Lord Sunday, Dec. 19, 1999, at Memorial Hospital.
Born Feb. 15, 1911, in Oldtown, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Mary (Rightenbaugh) Keister. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Levi Ellsworth "Ted" Crabtree, 1955; two sons, William Ellsworth Crabtree and Royce Crabtree; and five brothers.
Mrs. Crabtree was a Baptist by faith. She was a school bus contractor for the Allegany County Board of Education and a member of the School Bus Contractors Association.
Surviving are two daughters, Norma Jane Atkinson and Marilyn E. Miltenberger and husband James; one daughter-in-law, Maxine Crabtree; eight grandchildren, J. Bradley Atkinson, Bryan S. Atkinson, Royce E. Crabtree Jr. and wife Cindy, Kevin E. Crabtree and wife Diana, Mark L. Crabtree, Anthony L. Miltenberger, Melissa A. Bollinger and husband Jason, and Heidi J. Miltenberger, all of Oldtown; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday at 1 p.m. with Pastor Joseph DiNicola officiating.
Interment will be in the Mount Olive Cemetery, Oldtown.
Pallbearers will be Randy Ginevan, Robert Noel, Tom McBride, Stewart Hickey, George Corbett and Brian Malcolm.

CUMBERLAND - Joshua Wayne Custer, infant son of Larry and Cheryl Lynn (Flanagan) Custer, died Sunday, April 18, 1999, at Memorial Hospital.
Surviving in addition to his parents are his paternal grandparents, Larry I. Custer, New Jersey, and Jackie Boozarth, Burlington, N.J.; maternal grandparents, William T. and Scharyl (Smith) Flanagan, Ridgeley, W.Va., maternal great-grandmother, Esther Kimble, Bedford, Pa.; aunts and uncles, Paul Custer, Waldorf, Kim Boozarth, Burlington, Billie Jo Gibson and husband, Danny, Cumberland, William Flanagan Jr., and Mathew P. Flanagan, both of Ridgeley.
A graveside service will be conducted at St. Patrick's Cemetery, Cumberland, Wednesday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Wayne R. Turner officiating.

ROBERT F. BLACKER
CUMBERLAND - Robert F. Blacker, 71, of Cumberland, died Saturday, Aug. 7, 1999, at Tyrone Hospital, Tyrone, Pa.
Born Nov. 19, 1927, in Wiley Ford, W.Va., he was the son of the late Fairy Lillian Blacker.
He also was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Lee (Newman) Blacker.
Mr. Blacker was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was an employee for the Queen City Brewery and served as president of the labor union for many years. He was a member of Mason's Ohr Lodge 131, Scottish Rites, and the Shrine Club.
Surviving are one daughter, Deborah Green and husband Kenneth, Panama City, Fla.; two grandchildren, Kenneth Green Jr. and Kari Green; and one brother, Thomas Goshorn. He also is leaving behind family with whom he resided, Mary Lechliter and her son Joey Lechliter.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Thursday at noon. Interment will be in the Maryland State Veterans cemetery at Rocky Gap. Military honors will be accorded by the Combined Veterans Honor Guard.

CUMBERLAND - Robert F. Blacker, 71, of 714 Columbia Ave., Cumberland, died Saturday, Aug. 7, 1999, at Tyrone Hospital, Tyrone, Pa.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. The Ohr Lodge 131 will conduct a memorial service on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Thursday at noon.
Interment will be in the Maryland State Veterans cemetery at Rocky Gap.
Pallbearers will be Thomas Goshorn, Joseph Lechliter, Mike Green, Jeff Brode, Keith Lewis and Ronald McKenney.

ANNA MAE COOK
ELLERSLIE - Anna Mae Cook, 81, died Saturday, Feb. 6, 1999, at her home in Ellerslie.
Born Feb. 24, 1918, in Ellerslie, she was a daughter of the late Norman L. and Anna Mary (Newman) Cook.
Mrs. Cook is survived by Nial F. Cook, her husband of 52 years; a son, Harvey M. Cook, Baltimore; two daughters, Debbie A. Logsdon, wife of Pat, and Pamela S. Pressman, wife of John, both of Ellerslie; four grandchildren, Riki Logsdon, Centreville, Va., Mark Logsdon, Aberdeen Proving Ground, Md., Jonathan and Cameron Pressman, both of Ellerslie; and two great-grandchildren.
The last surviving member of her immediate family, Mrs. Cook was preceded in death by two brothers and six sisters.
Mrs. Cook was a homemaker who had worked in various volunteer capacities including the Ellerslie UMC Ladies Aid, Ellerslie Fire Company Auxiliary, and Memorial Hospital's Meals on Wheels. She was a member of the Faith Community Church, Hyndman, Pa.
Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Hyndman, on Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday, Feb. 9, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Terry L. Campbell officiating.
Interment will be in Cooks Mills Cemetery, Hyndman.
JOHN G. BLADES SR.
CHURCHVILLE - Lt. Col. John Gilbert Blades Sr. (Ret.) 76, of Churchville, died Thursday, Dec. 23, 1999, at Harford Memorial Hospital, Havre de Grace.
Born March 31, 1923, in Somerset, Pa., he was the son of the late Harry Charles Blades Sr. and Mae (Weimer) Blades. He also was preceded in death by one brother, Harry C. Blades Jr.; and one sister, Mildred A. Blades.
Lt. Col. Blades was a 1941 graduate of Fort Hill High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in August of 1942. He graduated from Flight School in Pensacola, Fla., and was assigned as a pilot of Grumman Avenger on the USS Lexington. He saw extensive action in the Pacific Theater during the remainder of WW II and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross as well as a number of other air medals. He was discharged from the Navy in December of 1945 with the rank of Lt. jg. Upon returning from the service, he worked for the B & O Railroad for nearly two years before joining the Maryland State Police in November of 1947.
After graduating from the Police Academy, he was assigned to the Benson Barracks. He later served at the Conowingo Post, the Elkton Detachment and the Golden Ring Detachment where he was promoted through the rank of Corporal. He returned to the Benson Barracks with the rank of Sergeant and then First Sergeant. In 1966, he was chosen to represent the Maryland State Police and attend the one year Northwestern Traffic Institute in Chicago. Upon his successful completion in June 1967, he was promoted to Lieutenant and returned to Maryland and was transferred to the Annapolis Barracks as Barracks Commander. In 1969, he was transferred to Pikesville with the rank of Assistant Commander of Training Division. In 1970, he was again promoted to the rank of Captain and assumed command of the Northern Troop responsible for Harford and Cecil Counties. In 1974, with the rank of Major, he was given command of Field Forces in Pikesville. In 1977, he was promoted to Lt. Col. and was made Chief of Operations. In 1978, he was promoted to Deputy Superintendent, which is the highest non-appointed rank in the agency. He held this position until his retirement in July of 1981 with a total of 34 years of duty with the Maryland State Police. After his retirement, he served as District Court Commissioner of Harford County until 1992.
Lt. Col. Blades was a member of the Calvary Methodist Church, the State Police Alumni Association, the American Legion, the Northwestern Traffic Institute Alumni Association, and the Law Officers Association of Maryland.
Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Sue Alice (Meister) Blades; two sons, Sgt. John G. Blades Jr., Churchville, and Timothy A. Blades, Street; one sister, Mary R. Stilwell, Dowagic, Mich.; and three granddaughters, Julie Blades, Shannon Blades and Stephanie Blades.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., on Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Richard W. Goode officiating.
Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Robert Meister, Robert Rhinehart, Paul Hartman, Charles Hartman, Steven Bloom, Michael Bloom and Dennis Burns.
