EDWARD L. BEVER
Edward L. "Fast Eddie" Bever, 44, Cumberland, formerly of Bloomington, died Thursday, March 16, 2000, at his home.
Born on Oct. 3, 1955, in Keyser, W.Va., he was the son of the late Edward L. and Mary G. (Moran) Bever.
He was a former welder, having worked in Virginia. He was also a former member of the Bloomington Fire Company, a former Tri-Towns Pee Wee baseball coach, and he was an advocate for the Independent Living Center, Cumberland. He was Catholic by faith.
Surviving are a daughter, Morgan Bever, Richmond, Va., and two sisters, Mary Ann McGoye, of Kill Devil Hills, N.C., and Suzanne Donnelly, Westernport.
His body was cremated.
Graveside memorial services were conducted on Sunday, March 26, at the Bloomington Cemetery, Bloomington, with Father James Hannon officiating.
The Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, was in charge of arrangements.
SYLVAN C. WARNICK
Sylvan Clarence Warnick, 66, Grantsville, died Thursday, March 23, 2000, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland.
Born June 16, 1933, in Grantsville, he was a son of Nellie (Warnick) Warnick, Bittinger, and the late Clarence Warnick. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Ann (Hare) Warnick, on Oct. 6, 1975, and a sister, Olive Stark.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, and was a member of Grantsville Post 214, American Legion and Salisbury VFW. He was a member of Casselman Valley Sportsmen's Club and the NRA. He was a retired heavy equipment operator for Action Mining.
Surviving in addition to his mother, are his companion, Bonnie Campbell; three sons, Joseph Warnick and Gary Warnick , both of Hanover, Pa., and Brian Warnick, Avilton; three daughters, Terri Tichinel, Monaca, Pa., Kathryn Sweeney, Grantsville, and Marla Smacher, Bel Air; eight brothers, Ransel, Victor, Kenneth, David, and Morris Warnick, all of Bittinger, Marvin and Ronald Warnick, Grantsville, and Roger Warnick, Chester; three sisters, Helen Miller and Mary Folk, both of Grantsville, and Shirley Crowe, Chester; and 12 grandchildren.
Friends were received at the Newman Funeral Home, Grantsville, where a service was conducted on Saturday, March 25, with the Rev. Bruce Ashlock officiating. Interment was in the Grantsville Cemetery.
SUSAN D. CONNEWAY
Susan D. (Cuppet) Conneway, 91, Bruceton Mills, W.Va. (Glade Farms Community), formerly of Markleysburg, Pa., died Saturday, March 25, 2000, at Heartland of Preston County, Kingwood, W.Va.
Born July 15, 1908, in Glade Farms, she was a daughter of the late Patrick Henry and Carrie Etta (Ault) Cuppet. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Park B. Conneway, in 1983, and three brothers, John Robert, Ralph E., and Henry Cuppet Jr.
She was a member of the Union Church of Markleysburg, and an associate member of Union Chapel Church at Glade Farms. In her earlier years, she taught in numerous rural schools in Preston County. Later in life, she became an employee of the U.S. Postal Service in Markleysburg, until her retirement. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Markleysburg-Henry Clay Fire Department, Bruceton High School Alumni Association, North Preston Senior Citizens Club, and the Preston County Historical Association.
Survivors include one brother, Carlos Ray "Bud" Cuppet, Cape May, N.J.; and three sisters, Margaret (Cuppet) Gould, Moorestown, N.J., and Helen E. Cuppet, and Betty Galloway, both of Bruceton Mills.
Friends were received at the Carl R. Spear Funeral Home, Brandonville, W.Va. where a memorial service was conducted Sunday, March 26, by members of the Markleysburg-Henry Clay ladies auxiliary.
MARTHA J. SHAFFER
Martha J. Shaffer, 75, Crellin, died Monday, March 27, 2000, at Garrett County Memorial Hospital, Oakland.
Born Dec. 1, 1924, in Crellin, she was a daughter of the late Dewey Bittinger Sr. and Lena (Adams) Bittinger Fratz. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Dewey Bittinger Jr.
She was a member of the Crellin United Brethren Church, where she taught Sunday School for 56 years. She was a 1941 graduate of Oakland High School. She served as postmistress of the Crellin Post Office and retired as the bookkeeper of Miller's Market, Oakland, in 1981.
Survivors include her husband, J. Kenneth Shaffer; one daughter, Jonna K. Sanders, Oakland; two sons, Kenneth "Fuzz" Shaffer, Loch Lynn, and James K. Shaffer, Oakland; one sister, Stella "Tink" Allen, Morgantown, W.Va.; one brother, the Rev. Dale Bittinger, Bristol, Tenn.; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Friends were received at the Stewart Funeral Home, Oakland, where a service was conducted earlier today, March 30, with the Rev. Charles Teets and the Rev. Michael Mudge officiating. Interment was in the Oakland Cemetery.

WILLIAM C. LAREW
William Carl Larew, 90, Scotch Hill Community, near Newburg, W.Va., died Saturday, March 18, 2000, at Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va.
Born Feb. 16, 1910, at the family residence in Newburg, he was a son of the late J. Walter and Minnie V. (May) Larew. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Kenneth Larew, and two sisters, Esther (Larew) Kennard and Edna (Larew) Trader.
He was a 1927 graduate of Newburg High School. He obtained his teaching certificate from Potomac State College and taught in various one-room schools in the Preston County (W.Va.) area. Following 11 years of teaching service, he became involved in the coal industry and later founded Larew Coal Company. Larew Coal Company and other properties acquired were merged into the formation of Coaltrain Corporation. In the early 1940s he purchased parcels of land on Scotch Hill, where he made his home and added farming and timbering to his coal mining activities. He remained active and continued to dig his own house coal with pick and shovel until two days prior to his death.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Virginia (Lambert) Larew; three sons, William Larew Jr., Newburg, Glenn Larew, Morgantown, and Keith Larew, Scotch Hill; one daughter, Pamela Willis, Independence, W.Va.; one sister, Louise (Larew) Harvey, Friendsville; 13 grand-children; and two great-grandchildren.
Friends were received at the Taylor Funeral Home, Newburg. A service was conducted at the Bethel United Methodist Church, Scotch Hill, on Tuesday, March 21, with the Revs. Walter Speece and Russell Downs officiating. Interment was in the Larew family cemetery on Scotch Hill.
AMANDA C. WILBURN
Amanda Ceretha Wilburn, 94, Grantsville, died Monday, March 27, 2000, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland.
Born March 2, 1906, in Jennings, she was the daughter of the late Charles William and Mary Jane (Fazenbaker) Wilt. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Walter Charles Wilburn, on April 29, 1994; two sons, Stewart Wilburn and Claude Wilburn; one grandson; and one great-grandson.
She was a homemaker and a member of Jennings Church of God.
Survivors include nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
Friends were received at the Newman Funeral Home, Grantsville, where a service was conducted earlier today, March 30, with the Rev. George Plants officiating. Interment was in the Wilburn Cemetery, Grantsville.
ALLEN M. HINEBAUGH
Allen Merle Hinebaugh, 85, Friendsville, died Monday, March 27, 2000, at the Goodwill Mennonite Home, Grantsville.
Born March 12, 1915, in Friendsville, he was the son of the late Donald and Grace (Lowdermilk) Hinebaugh.
He was a retired truck driver, employed by the teamsters. He was also a member of the Sand Spring Church of God and a governor of the Moose Lodge, Essex.
Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Spedalire and Beverly Donnelly, both of Baltimore; two sisters, Loretta Zirkle, Stafford, Va., and Lucille Bradshaw, Richmond, Va.; and one grand-daughter.
Friends were received at the Newman Funeral Home, Friendsville, where a service was conducted at 2 p.m. today, March 30, with the Rev. Dana Umbel officiating. Interment was in the Sand Spring Cemetery.
ELSA H. NASER
Elsa Humbird (Rodgers) Naser, 64, Grantsville, died Monday, March 13, 2000, as the result of an alleged murder near Grantsville.
Born July 13, 1935, in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of the late Judge Bennett Rodgers and Eleanor Humbird Longenecker. She was also preceded in death by her husband, David Wagner Naser, on Jan. 18.
She was educated at Ellis School and earned a certified of fine arts from the Ringling School of Art, Sarasota, Fla.
She and her late husband owned and operated the Village Flower Shop of Shadyside, Pittsburgh, and later the Casselweed Nursery in Grantsville.
Survivors include three children, David Wagner Naser Jr., James Bennett Naser, and Sally Humbird Naser; one brother, Frederick Collier Rodgers, New Haven, Conn.; one sister, Anne Rodgers, New York, N.Y.; and two grandchildren.
A combined memorial service for the both Elsa and David Naser is set for Saturday, April 1, at noon, at St. Anne's Roman Catholic Church, Rt. 40-Alt, Grantsville. Interment will be private.

VERA A. WHITE
Vera A. White, 58, Horse Shoe Run, W.Va., died Saturday, March 18, 2000, at her home.
Born Dec. 19, 1941, at Horse Shoe Run, she was a daughter of the late Herman W. and Gertrude P. (Sell) Shaffer. She was also preceded in death by one sister, Lois "Jane" Hebb.
Survivors include one daughter, Sandra J. (White) Burdock, Horse Shoe Run; five sisters, Geraldine Arnold, Eglon, W.Va., Patsy Mikles, North Carolina, Alta Minnick, Virginia, Carolyn Spencer, Horse Shoe Run, and Letha Helmick, Horse Shoe Run; three brothers, Leonard Shaffer and Everette Joseph Shaffer, both of Ohio, and Guy E. Shaffer, Horse Shoe Run; and two grandchildren.
At the deceased's request, there was no service. Her body has been donated to the Human Gift Registry in Morgantown, W.Va.
V. ELIZABETH BITTINGER
V. Elizabeth Bittinger, 64, Oakland, died Wednesday, March 15, 2000, at Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va.
Born on Feb. 21, 1936, in Sheffield, Pa., she was a daughter of the late Paul J. and Violet E. (Fazenbaker) Uber.
She was a retired bookkeeper for J & S Chevrolet, Oakland. She was a member of the Pine Grove Church of the Brethren, and Bethlehem Chapter No. 14, Order of the Eastern Star, Westernport.
Surviving are her husband, J. Kenneth Bittinger; one daughter, Paula R. Hutson, Oakland; one son, James K. Bittinger II, Swanton; one sister, Dorcas Suit, Swanton; and four grandchildren.
Friends were received at the Stewart Funeral Home, Oakland, where a memorial service was conducted by members of the Oakland Chapter No. 67, O.E.S.
Services were conducted at the funeral home on Saturday, March 18, with the Rev. Owen Preston officiating. Interment was in Garrett County Memorial Gardens.
