JANE E. BASSEL
CUMBERLAND - Jane Edith Bassel, 79, of 432 Walnut St., Cumberland, died Wednesday, Sept. 8, 1999, at Memorial Hospital.
Born on Nov. 19, 1919, in Charleston, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Frank E. Jaumot, Sr., and the late Fayetta F. (Williams) Jaumot.
Mrs. Bassel was a member of Beth Shan Assembly of God Church, Bedford Road, Cumberland.
Surviving are a husband, Stephen L. Bassel, Jr., Cumberland; a daughter, Jane E. Carder and husband William, Cumberland; a granddaughter, Stephenie F. Carder, Cumberland; a brother, Frank E. Jaumot, Jr. and wife Jean, Diamond Head, Miss.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., with the Rev. Greg Georg and the Rev. Gary Barkley officiating.
Interment will be in Hillcrest Burial Park.
PERRY F. CANADA
ELLERSLIE, Md. - Perry F. Canada, 72, of Ellerslie, formerly of Pineville, W.Va., died Wednesday, May 19, 1999, in a Winchester, Va., Medical Center.
Born July 24, 1926, in Wyoming County, he was the son of the late William Flemon and Lottie Tilley Canada.
Mr. Canada was a retired coal miner from Consolidation Coal Company and a member of the UMWA. He attended Ellerslie Methodist Church and he also served in the U.S. Army.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Jacqueline Wilhelm Canada, on Nov. 5, 1981; and a grandson, Jeremy Michael Cecil, on Nov. 5, 1991.
Survivors include his wife, Ina McCloud Canada, Ellerslie; two sons, Michael Canada, Abington, Va., Mark Canada, Pineville, W.Va.; two daughters, Deborah Lane, Peterstown, W.Va., Pamela Cecil, Madisonville, Ky.; and eight grandchildren.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 23, 1999, at Blue Ridge Funeral Home Chapel, Beckley, with the Rev. Jim L. Varney officiating.
Burial will follow in the Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley.
Friends may call one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

PALMIRA M. CUEVA
LUKE - Palmira M. Cueva, 92, of Moran Manor Nursing Home, formerly of Fairview Street, Luke, died Saturday, July 3, 1999, at the Nursing Home.
Born Nov. 22, 1906, in Asturias, Spain, she was a daughter of the late Fernando and Carmine (Rodriguez) Prado. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Paulino Cueva, in 1978. Also preceding her in death were two sons, Victor M. Cueva Sr., Paul F. Cueva; and three brothers, Joseph Prado, Marshall Prado and Manuel Prado.
Mrs. Cueva was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, a member of the Westernport Senior Citizens, and a former volunteer at the Tri-Towns Rescue Squad.
She is survived by three grandchildren, Victor Cueva Jr., Westernport, Lee Ann Cueva, Charleston, W.Va., Brian Scott Cueva, Baltimore; one great-granddaughter, Rachel Helene Cueva; and several cousins.
The family will receive friends at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. on Monday.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Westernport.
Interment will be in St. Peter's Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed to the American Diabetes Association, the American Heart Association, or to St. Peter's Catholic Church.
ORVILLE E. "BUZZ" CROWE
FROSTBURG - Orville E. "Buzz" Crowe, 81, of Frostburg, died Friday, July 16, 1999, at St. Vincent de Paul Nursing Center.
Born April 21, 1918, in Frostburg, he was the son of the late William and Mary (Morgan) Crowe.
Mr. Crowe had worked at the Celanese Corp., Cumberland, and Rodamer Concrete, Springs, Pa. He attended the Frostburg Church of the Nazarene.
Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Ada M. (Shimer) Crowe; one son, Orville W. Crowe, Barton; two daughters, Carol McFarland and husband, Willard, T
hornton, Colo., and Brenda Crowe, Cumberland; five grandchildren, Billy Crowe, Candy Kifer and husband, Jason, Kelly Lopushansky and husband, Mike, Laurie Ann McFarland and Brian Lapp; two great-grandchildren, Tiffany Kifer and Austin Kifer; and two sisters, Mildred Durr and husband, George, Frostburg, and Edna Bittinger and husband, Paul, Frostburg.
The body will be cremated. There will be no visitation.
A memorial service will be held at Sowers Funeral Home, P.A., 60 W. Main St., Frostburg, on Monday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. T. William Preston officiating.
Inurnment will be in Frostburg Memorial Park.
EDGAR E. BAILEY
CUMBERLAND - Edgar Eugene Bailey, 70, of Cumberland, died Tuesday, Jan. 12, 1999 at his residence.
Born March 26, 1928, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Lee and Hazel (Fraley) Bailey.
Mr. Bailey retired from PPG Industries. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, and a life member of the Goodfellowship Club and the Cumberland Outdoor Club.
Surviving are his wife, Dolores (Brant) Bailey; one daughter, Deanne L. Stump and husband Michael, Cumberland; two sons, Jeffrey E. Bailey and wife Patricia, Cumberland, and Stephen E. Bailey and wife Shannon, Seminole, Fla.; three sisters, Phyllis Bailey, Mary Mattingly and husband Robert, and Eileen Bailey, all of Cumberland; one brother, Ronald Bailey and wife Emily, Cumberland; six grandchildren, Ryan M. Bailey, Amber C. Bailey, Jared T. Bailey, Adam M. Bailey, Justin M. Stump and Tiffany M. Stump.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home Friday at 11 a.m. with Father Art Lillicropp officiating.
Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park, Cumberland.
