MARIE FAZENBAKER
WESTERNPORT - Marie Fazenbaker, 88, a resident of Dennett Road Manor Nursing Home, Oakland, for the past 20 years, and formerly of 406 Walnut St., Westernport, died Monday, March 8, 1999, at Garrett County Memorial Hospital, Oakland.
Born on June 10, 1910, at Kitzmiller she was the daughter of the late Luke and Olive (Boyce) Kearney. She was also preceded in death by her husband Dewey Fazenbaker.
Mrs. Fazenbaker is survived by a sister, Virginia Warnick, of Barberton, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
There will be no visitation, and private family services will be held.
Interment will be in the Philos Cemetery.
Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, is in charge of arrangements.
VINCENT S. GUIDO
CUMBERLAND - Vincent Santo "Jimmy" Guido, 77, of Cumberland, died Wednesday, Aug. 11, 1999, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born Nov. 1, 1921, in Cerisano, Cosenza, Italy, he was the son of the late Frank M. and Angelina (LaNeve) Guido. He also was preceded in death by one son-in-law, Joseph F. Struntz III.
Mr. Guido immigrated here in 1938 and graduated from LaSalle High School in 1942. He served his country in the U.S. Army in World War II as a member of the Company F, 351st Regiment, 88th Infantry. He was awarded the American Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and the Purple Heart in 1945 after spending a year as a POW. He retired from the Kelly-Springfield Tire Co. after 38 years of service in 1983.
Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Margaret Ruth (Pendergast) Guido; three daughters, Diana M. Struntz, Frederick, Jeanette L. Thomas and husband John, Centreville, Va., and Linda A. Hartung and husband Martin, Carlisle, Pa.; six grandchildren, Eric Struntz and wife Amy, Lisa Struntz, Kristin and Maria Thomas, Brandon and Cory Hartung; one sister, Josephine M. Vitari, Pittsburgh, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Thursday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Christian Wake service will be conducted Thursday at 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Patrick's Catholic Church Friday at 9 a.m. with the Father Thomas R. Bevan as Celebrant.
Interment will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Cumberland.
Graveside military honors will be accorded by the Combined Veterans Honor Guard.
Donations may be made to St. Patrick's Catholic Church.
ETHEL R. DAVIS
FROSTBURG - Ethel R. Davis, 84, of 205 W. Main St., Frostburg, died Monday, Nov. 15, 1999, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland.
Born July 19, 1915, in Frostburg, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Margaret (Lashbaugh) Eisentrout. She also was preceded in death by her husband, William G. Davis in 1976; and one son, Bill Davis.
Mrs. Davis was a homemaker. She was a member of the Frostburg United Methodist Church.
Surviving are one daughter, Janie James, Frostburg; one brother, James "Buck" Eisentrout, Cumberland; one sister, Viola Davis, New Jersey; three granddaughters, Roxanna James McCormic, Frostburg, Alison Renee James, Frostburg, and Cindy (Davis) McKenzie; two grandsons, Billy Davis and Richard Davis; three great-granddaughters, Jennifer McCormic, and Tiffany Ponce, both of Texas, and Luci McCormic, Frostburg; three great-great-grandsons, Gage Poulin, Ian Thomas Draney and Devon Ponce, all of Texas; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, P.A., 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted there Wednesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Darryl Gill officiating.
Interment will be in the Frostburg Memorial Park.
STEPHEN W. GALLAGHER JR.
CUMBERLAND - Stephen Welton Gallagher Jr., 41, of City View Terrace, Cumberland, died unexpectedly at his residence on Saturday, May 15, 1999.
Born Sept. 16, 1957, in Cumberland, he was a son of the late Stephen W. Gallagher Sr. A sister, Barbara Jean Huffaker, also preceded Mr. Gallagher in death.
His mother, Martha Alice (McRobie) Gallagher; a son, David Evans, Minnesota; a daughter, Shannon Brown, Frostburg; a brother, Robert McRobie, Cumberland; and a grandchild survive Mr. Gallagher.
Mr. Gallagher was a member of Central Assembly of God, Cumberland.
Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Hyndman, Pa., on Wednesday, May 19, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Thursday, May 20, at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Robert Hymes officiating.
Interment will be in Nethken Hill Cemetery, Elk Garden, W.Va.
ELEANOR FARRELL
CUMBERLAND - M. Eleanor Farrell, of Devlin Manor Nursing Home, formerly of Penhurst Street, Cumberland, died Friday, Nov. 5, 1999, at Memorial Hospital.
Born in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late John and Anna (Collins) Welsh. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Hubert Getty Farrell; two brothers, John and Bob Welsh; and one sister, Joan Slaughter.
Mrs. Farrell was a homemaker. She was a member of the SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, and the church sodality.
Surviving are one son, Hugh W. Farrell and wife, Roberta Dosh, Ellicott City; one daughter, JoAnna F. Squires and husband, Bill, Cumberland; two sisters, Cassie Skidmore, Cumberland, Peg Stevens, Cumberland; three grandchildren, Will Squires, Anna Catherine Squires, Meghan Squires; and sister-in-law, Ann Welsh, Cumberland.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Mass of a Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary's Catholic Church, on Tuesday at 9 a.m. with the Fr. Milton A. Hipsley as celebrant.
Interment will be in SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Cumberland.
PAULINE S. DAUGHERTY
CUMBERLAND - Pauline S. Daugherty, 76, of Cumberland, died Monday, March 8, 1999, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born June 12, 1922, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Paul Henry and Angela Genevieve (Jenkins) Shaffer.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert 'Doc' Daugherty; and two brothers, John 'Jack' Shaffer and J. Frederick Shaffer.
Mrs. Daugherty was a lifelong member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church.
She was a 1940 graduate of Catholic Girls Central High School and Catherman's Business School in 1941.
Mrs. Daugherty was a retired employee of the Celanese Fibers Company with 38 years of service. Prior to that she was employed by the Kelly-Springfield Tire Company.
Surviving are two sisters, Marion A. Pendergast and husband, Patrick, and Patricia A. Lancaster and husband, Raymond, all of Cumberland; two brothers, Paul 'Dude' Shaffer and wife, Juanita, Cumberland, and Richard J. Shaffer and wife, Janice, LaVale; as well as six nephews; eight nieces; and several great-nephews and nieces.
Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, P.A., 202 Greene St., Cumberland, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
The Christian Wake service will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday at 8 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Patrick's Catholic Church on Thursday at 9 a.m. with the Rev. Thomas R. Bevan as celebrant.
Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens.
Serving as pallbearers will be R. Scott Shaffer, Michael J. Pendergast, Brian J. Pendergast, John E. Shaffer, Stewart M. Shaffer and Timothy Matthews.
