JOHN L. DAWSON
CUMBERLAND - John Lawrence Dawson, 45, of Cumberland, died Wednesday, Nov. 24, 1999, at Martinsburg Veterans Center.
Born March 20, 1954, in Cumberland, he was the son of Pearl Mazie (Eckard) Dawson Ecker, Cumberland, and the late Robert A. Dawson Sr. He also was preceded in death by one brother, Edward Dawson Sr.; and one nephew, Jim Dawson.
Mr. Dawson was a U.S. Army veteran and a 1972 graduate of Fort Hill High School.
Surviving are three brothers, Robert Dawson Jr. and wife Shirley, South Point, Ohio, Kennith Dawson and wife Donna, Shelby, N.C., and Richard Dawson and wife Anna, Cumberland; three nieces, Christine Dawson, Cumberland, Heather Minnix and Beverly Dawson, both of Charlotte, N.C.; one nephew, Edward Dawson Jr.; and one sister-in-law, Carol Dawson, both of Millerdale, W.Va.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., on Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m., and Friday from 12 to 1 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Timothy L. Monn officiating.
Interment will be in the Maryland Veterans cemetery at Rocky Gap, Flintstone.
VERA C. GRAHAM
CUMBERLAND - Vera C. Graham, 86, formerly of Cash Valley Road, LaVale, died Sunday, Aug. 8, 1999, at the Cumberland Villa Nursing Center, where she had been a resident since 1994.
Born Aug. 30, 1912, in Lower Turkey Foot, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Rebecca (Barnett) Mauk. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Graham Sr.; one son, Earnest Weaver; three sisters, Marie Dom, Annabelle Cain and Etta Jenkins; four brothers, Dale Mauk, William Mauk, John Mauk and James Mauk; and one grandson, Andrew Kacholek.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
She is survived by four daughters, Joann Colbert and husband Cecil, Fort Washington, Md., Louise Thornhill and husband Ira, Huntersville, N.C., Betty Kacholek and husband Harold, Willoughby, Ohio, and Kathleen Wertman, Wichita, Kan.; five sons, Robert Graham and wife Carol, Linesville, Pa., John Graham and wife Kathy, Frankford, Del., Dale Graham and wife Linda, Fort Washington, Md., Joseph Graham and wife Pat, Bel Air Cumberland, and Mickey Graham and wife Sharon, Solomons Island, Md.; 18 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and special friend, Andrew Hamburg, Cumberland.
Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, P.A., 202 Greene St., Cumberland, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
The funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Bruce Baugus officiating.
Interment will be in Zion Memorial Park.
LEONA V. DAWSON
RAWLINGS - Leona Virginia "Noanie" (Galliher) Dawson, 77, of Rawlings, died Tuesday, April 13, 1999, at her home beside her family and Home Hospice of Western Maryland.
Born March 5, 1922, in Green Ridge, Md., she was ths daughter of the late John M. and Bernadine (Kasecamp) Galliher. She also was preceded in death by three brothers, Leo, Gaylord and John R. Galliher; and one sister, Ethel Mobray.
Mrs. Dawson was employed for a time by the Celanese, Kelly-Springfield, and Old Shipway Inn. She was a member of Rawlings United Methodist Church.
Surviving are her loving husband of 58 years, John L. Dawson; one daughter, April Sheriann (Dawson) Lewis, Rawlings; two brothers, Bradley T. Galliher and wife Sally, Michigan, and Mike Galliher, Wiley Ford, W.Va.; three sisters, Anna "Nettie" Nield, Baltimore, Carrie Darrah and husband LaVerle, Orlando, Fla., and Merry Niner and husband Richard, Cresaptown; one sister-in-law, Betty Galliher, Ohio; two grandsons, Arlo Keith Lewis Jr., Rawlings, and John Simon Lewis and wife Robin, Cumberland; one granddaughter, Leann Virginia Shambaugh and husband Lynn, Bel Air; six great-grandchildren, Elizabeth and Nicholas Lewis, Rawlings, Hanna and April Lewis, Cumberland, and Joshua and Isaac Shambaugh, Bel Air; and many, many nieces and nephews who loved her very much.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeal Home, P.A., Cresaptown, Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home Friday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Harold R. McClay Jr. officiating.
Interment will be in the St. Patrick's Cemetery, Little Orleans.
Pallbearers will be Robert Emmart, Robert Dawson, John Dawson, Freddie Abe, John Schulz, James E. Dawson, Timothy Dawson and Lynn Shambaugh.
Contributions may be made to the Western Maryland Hospice Unit.
"Noanie" was very special and loved by all that knew her, and she loved them back in return! The world may have lost a beautiful person, but at the same time, God has received the most beautiful spirit Heaven could ever have!! You will be sadly missed so much by all that you have touched. God's speed be with you, with lots of love, our "Noanie".....Forever!
BRYAN E. DAY
VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - Bryan Everett Day, 17, of 1812 Port Lyautey Drive, Virginia Beach, Va., died Wednesday, June 2, 1999, at his residence.
Born Jan. 8, 1982, in Cumberland, Md., he was a son of MM1 (SS/SW) William Day (USN) and Brenda L. (Fratz) Day.
Bryan was a 10th grade student at Frank Cox High School and attended the Military Catholic Services.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by a sister, Elizabeth Anne Day, at home; his maternal grandparents, E. Allen Fratz, Accident, Md., Rita Kremer, Friendsville, Md.; his paternal grandparents, Margaret and Walter Haynes, Vernon, Conn., George and Mariem Day, Oceanside, Calif.; maternal great-grandmother, Beulah Rush, Accident; and aunts and uncles, Nancy and Bill Shey, Donna and Paul D'Italia, George and Sally Day, and Dwayne and Jackie Fratz.
Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., McHenry, Md., on Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted on Sunday at 1 p.m. in Zion Lutheran Church, Accident, Md., with the Rev. Wilfred Karsten officiating.
Interment will be in the church cemetery, where Father Don Parson will officiate.
Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the services.
Pallbearers will be Delbert Leese Jr., Brent Fratz, Neil Shey, Stephen Shey, Jeffrey D'Italia and Chris Mindala.

MARGARET A. FEISE
LA VERNE, Calif. - Margaret A. Feise, 84, of La Verne, formerly of Cumberland, Md., died April 16, 1999, at Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center, Pomona.
She was born March 6, 1915, in Robins, Iowa, and lived in La Verne since 1977. She had lived in Arcadia.
She taught kindergarten in the Arcadia Unified School District for two years. She also taught with the Head Start Program at the Church of the Brethren, La Verne, and was an adult literacy teacher at the La Verne Library.
She graduated from Iowa State University in 1937 and was affiliated with Pi Beta Phi Sorority.
She was a member of the La Verne Heights Presbyterian Church, La Verne, and Claremont Guild of the Crippled Children's Society.
Mrs. Feise is survived by her husband, Karl; two daughters, Linda West of Lake Arrowhead and Julie McCabe of San Marino; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Her husband Karl was vice president of manufacturing in Cumberland's Kelly-Springfield Tire Plant and retired in 1977.
Margaret was active in Century Club, Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, First Presbyterian Church, and the WGA of the Cumberland Country Club.
Services were held at La Verne Heights Presbyterian Church. Interment was private.
