LINDA A. DOBOS
Linda Ann "Linnie" Dobos, 55, Grantsville, died Sunday, March 12, 2000, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland.
Born Aug. 25, 1944, at Silver Spring, she was a daughter of James E. and Thelma Mae (King) Greene.
She was a homemaker.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband, Eugene G. Dobos; one son, Ronald J. Whittaker, Arizona; two stepdaughters, Valerie Dobos and Anise Capotosto, both of Rockville; three sisters, Brenda Fehervari and Donna K. Greene, both of Frostburg, and Pamela Jackson, WilkesBarre, Pa.
A memorial service was conducted Wednesday, March 15, at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Grantsville, with the Rev. Brenda Shreve officiating. Interment was in the Grantsville Cemetery.
The Newman Funeral Home, Grantsville, was in charge of arrangements.
ELMER H. DILLSWORTH
Elmer H. Dillsworth, 84, Oakland, died Thursday, March 9, 2000, at the Cuppett-Weeks Nursing Home, Oakland.
Born Jan. 27, 1916, in Oakland, he was a son of the late Mark and Rebecca (Warren) Dillsworth. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Pearl (Hixenbaugh) Dillsworth, in 1998.
He worked for the Stanley Coal Co. and the Kray Coal Co., both of Crellin.
Survivors include one daughter, Josephine Resh, Accident; three sons, Harold E. Dillsworth, Howard F. Dillsworth, and Michael S. Dillsworth, all of Oakland; two brothers, Leonard Dillsworth, Oakland, and Guy Dillsworth, Terra Alta, W.Va.; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Friends were received at the Stewart Funeral Home, Oakland. A service was conducted at the Underwood United Brethren in Christ Church on Sunday, March 12, with the Rev. Donald Matthews and the Rev. David Kisamore officiating. Interment was in the Underwood Cemetery.
DENVER L. BITTINGER SR.
Denver L. "Den" Bittinger Sr., 48, Oakland, died Thursday, March 9, 2000, at Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va.
Born May 30, 1951, in Oakland, he was a son of Genevieve M. (Bittinger) Bittinger, and the late McKinley R. Bittinger. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Donald W. Bittinger.
He was the head custodian at the Dennett Road Elementary School, having worked there for 29 years.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Carol M. (Maule) Bittinger; one son, Denver L. "D.J." Bittinger Jr., Oakland; and two brothers, David W. Bittinger, Swanton, and Zendil Bittinger Sr., Oakland.
Friends were received at the Stewart Funeral Home, Oakland. A service was conducted at the Mountain Lake Independent Baptist Church on Monday, March 13, with Pastor Dennis Leatherman, the Rev. Gail Hixon, the Rev. Eugene Friend, and the Rev. David Snodgrass officiating. Interment was in the Bittinger Family Cemetery, Swanton.

RALPH R. DAVIS
Ralph R. Davis, 98, Scotch Plains, N.J., formerly of Oakland, died Wednesday, March 8, 2000.
He was born Sept. 21, 1901, in Oakland, a son of the late John and Ruth Davis. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 72 years, Helena (Marquis) Davis; one daughter, Evelyn Paul; one sister, Marjorie Stevens; and one brother, William Davis.
He attended Oakland High School, and retired as president of Security Steel and vice president of Art Metal Corp. of America.
Survivors include one daughter, Ruthann Stevens, six grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren.
EDNA M. RESH
Edna M. Resh, 75, Frostburg, died Monday, March 13, 2000, at Frostburg Village Nursing Home.
Born May 23, 1924, in Confluence, Pa., she was a daughter of the late Walter W. and Ethel (Hetrick) Foy. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Harold C. Resh on April 3, 1981.
She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Fort Hill, Pa., and attended Eckhart United Methodist Church.
Surviving are three sons, Harold J. Resh, Grantsville, Roger Neil Resh, Cumberland, Gary L. Resh, Mount Savage; two sisters, Marie Resh, Cumberland, Evelyn Lancaster, Baltimore; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Home, Grantsville, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today, Thursday. A service will be conducted in the funeral home on Friday, March 17, at 11 a.m. Interment will be in the Grantsville Cemetery.
LOREN E. LANTZ
Loren Ervin Lantz, 86, Mtn. Lake Park, died Tuesday, March 14, 2000, at the Dennett Road Manor Nursing Home, Oakland.
Born Sept. 7, 1913, in Eglon, W.Va., he was the son of the late George and Gertrude (Henline) Lantz.
He was a retired carpenter and a member of St. John's Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce (Evans) Lantz; two daughters, Lenora G. Flores, Silverdale, Wash., and Helen J. Ridder, Oakland; one sister, Leota Elsey, Aurora, W.Va.; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, Oakland, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday. A service will be conducted at St. John's Lutheran Church on Saturday, March 18, at 1 p.m., with the Rev. William Connelly officiating. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery.
Friends may call at the church one-half hour prior to the service.
The family suggests memorials take the form of contributions to the National Alzheimers Association.
DOROTHY R. HAYWOOD
Dorothy Rosalie Haywood, 83, Swanton, died Friday, March 3, 2000, at the Potomac Valley Hospital, Keyser, W.Va.
Born on May 26, 1916, at Piedmont, W.Va., she was a daughter of the late Harley William and Ivy Irene (White) Harvey.
She was a 1934 graduate of Bruce High School, Westernport. She was a retired beautician, having owned the Capri Beauty Salon in Westernport, and the "Coney Capri Beauty Salon" in Lonaconing. She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, Piedmont.
Surviving are her husband, Thomas Haywood; two daughters, Dorothy Brode, Westernport, and Marilyn Malcolm, Swanton; two sisters, Julia Carrillo, Annapolis, and Constance Dominick, Oakland; four grand-children;and seven great-grandchildren.
At Mrs. Haywood's request, her body was donated to the Human Gift Registry at West Virginia University. There was no visitation or service.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy be directed to either the American Cancer Society, Mineral County Chapter, c/o F&M Bank, Main Street, Keyser, WV 26726, or to the donor's favorite charity.
MARGARET S. BLACKBURN
Margaret "Madge" S. Blackburn, 88, of Elk Garden, W.Va., formerly of Antioch, W.Va., died Friday, March 3, 2000, at Potomac Valley Hospital, Keyser, W.Va.
Born on Oct. 26, 1912, in Kitzmiller, Md., she was the daughter of the late John W. and Myrtle E. (Pew) Wilson. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Jarrett "Jake" Blackburn, on Oct. 12, 1990.
She was a homemaker and a Methodist by faith.
Surviving include one brother, Ted Wilson, Oakland.
Friends were received at the Markwood Funeral Home, Keyser, where a service was conducted Monday, March 6, with the Rev. Donald E. Marple officiating. Interment was in the Thrush Cemetery, Antioch.
ROBERT C. BARTHOLOMEW
Robert C. "Bob" Bartholomew, 62, Bruceton Mills, W.Va., died Wednesday, March 1, 2000, at Uniontown (Pa.) Hospital, Uniontown.
Born Sept. 12, 1937, in Bruceton Mills, he was a son of Barton and Naomi (Humberson) Bartholomew, Bruceton Mills.
He was a retired farmer and sawmill operator and was a member of Sand Spring Church of God. He was a 1957 graduate of Northern High School, Accident.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by three sons, Robert John Bartholomew, Porter, Texas, John David Bartholomew, Kingwood, W.Va., and Richard Paul Bartholomew, Bruceton Mills; one daughter, Linda Ann Vincent, Washington D.C.; one brother, Donald Ray Bartholomew, Laurel; one sister, Carolyn A. Horner, Short Gap, W.Va.; and one granddaughter.
Friends were received at the Newman Funeral Home, Friendsville. A service was conducted at Sand Spring Church of God on Saturday, March 4, with the Rev. Sonny Putt and the Rev. Dennis Dawson officiating. Interment was in Humberson Cemetery.
BOYD H. ARNOLD
Lt. Col. (retired) Boyd H. Arnold, 85, Bradenton, Fla., died Sunday, Feb. 27, 2000, at his home.
Born in Red Oak, he moved to Manatee County in Florida from Bayard, W.Va., in 1989.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and during the Korean Conflict, and retired as a lieutenant colonel. He was an admiral in the Cherry River Navy, W.Va. He attended Church of the Brethren. He was a member of Elks Lodge No. 2481, Oakland, and American Legion Kirby Stewart Post No. 24. He was an honorarium member of Mountain Society at WestVirginia University, a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 6735, Mount Storm, W. Va., and a Mountaineer mascot at West Virginia University for four years.
He is survived by his wife, Doris E. Arnold; a daughter, Beth A. Jones of Las Vegas; three sons, Boyd H. Arnold Jr., of Palo Alto, Calif., and Phillip S. Arnold, and Douglas D. Arnold, both of Bradenton; 11 grandchildren;and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at a later date in Arlington, Va. Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery.
Brown and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
