ELIZABETH J. DELOZIER
CUMBERLAND - Elizabeth Jane DeLozier, 85, of Lions Manor Nursing Home, formerly of Elm Street, Cumberland, died Wednesday, April 7, 1999, at the nursing home.
Born July 25, 1913, in Glencoe, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Jacob and Mary (Todd) Ludy. She was also preceded in death by her stepmother, Maude Ludy and her husband, Walter "Gerber" DeLozier.
Mrs. DeLozier was a homemaker. She was a member of Kingsley-Grace United Methodist Church, Cumberland.
Surviving are four daughters, Mary Benson and husband, Sam, Cumberland; Freda M. Benson, Cumberland; Janet L. Stoops and husband, James, Short Gap, W.Va.; and Maxine J. Furedy and husband, Albert, Pittsburgh, Pa. Also surviving are one sister, one brother, four half-sisters, three half-brothers, 18 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Avenue, Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home Saturday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Richard H. Jewell officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park, Cumberland.
MARY A. FLETCHER
OLDTOWN - Mary A. Fletcher, 73, of Oldtown, went to be with her Lord Wednesday, June 30, 1999, at Memorial Hospital.
Born Nov. 10, 1925, in the Fintstone area, she was the daughter of the late Irvin and Rettie Mae (Dolly) Hennen.
Mrs. Fletcher was retired from Memorial Hospital after 27 years of service. In addition to working at Memorial Hospital, she worked, along with her husband, on the family farm in Oldtown. She was devoted to the Bethel Assembly of God Church. She also enjoyed gardening and canning, and she was an excellent cook and baker.
Surviving are her husband of 55 years, John H. Fletcher; one son, George William Fletcher and wife, Paulette, Cumberland; one daughter, Laura Mae Twigg and husband, Earl, Oldtown; three granddaughters, Crystal D. Davis, Short Gap, W.Va., Samantha M. Twigg, Oldtown, Sara E. Twigg, Oldtown; one great-granddaughter, Alyssa R. Davis; one brother, Estel J. Hennen, Capital Heights; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. There will be visitation one hour prior to the service at the church.
Services will be conducted at Bethel Assembly of God Church, Oldtown, on Saturday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Richard Wilson and the Rev. Joseph DiNicola officiating.
Interment will be in Glendale Cemetery, Flintstone.
Pallbearers will be Wesley Bennett, Harold Lavin, Hank Maier, Gary Appel, William "Butch" Bosley and Paul B. Krogel. Honorary pallbearers will be Leo Helmstetter, Steven Hall, John Hall and Louis Maier.
CECELIA M. GILLIS
FREDERICK - Cecelia Mary Gillis, 83, of Snowberry Court, Frederick, died Saturday, June 12, 1999, at the University of Maryland Hospital, Baltimore. She was the widow of Howard Herman Gillis, who died in 1976.
Born March 26, 1916, in Elizabeth, N.J., she was the daughter of the late John and Mary Kemeny of Hungary. She was the last of her immediate family.
Surviving are four daughters, Joan Fried and husband Bernard of Santa Barbara, Calif., Patricia E. Culwell and husband Paul, Frederick, Carol Lee Garrett and husband Edward, Frederick, and Lynn Gillis Kelly and husband Lawrence, Frostburg; six grandchildren, Deborah Grinstein, Sherman Oaks, Calif., Dana McQuade, Thousand Oaks, Calif., Lisa Garrett and Dawn Vargas, both of Frederick, Alexander Gillis Kelly, Cumberland, and Dana Felise Kelly, Frostburg; and five great-grandchildren.
At the request of Mrs. Gillis, there will be no visitation at the funeral home. Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. The Rev. Federick A. Wenner, pastor of the Evangelical Reformed United Church of Christ, Frederick, will officiate. Interment will be in the Pine Grove Cemetery, Mt. Airy.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Pine Grove cemetery Association, P.O. Box 393, Mt. Airy, MD 21771.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Stauffer Funeral Homes, P.A., Frederick.
WILLIAM R. DEREMER
PORT RICHEY, Fla. - William R. Deremer, 51, of Port Richey, died Thursday, Aug. 26, 1999, at home.
Mr. Deremer was a native of Cumberland, but moved to Port Richey, 26 years ago.
He was a sales representative for R.J. Reynolds in Tampa. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Hudson.
Survivors include his wife, Diana J.; two sons, Gary A., New Port Richey, and Jeffrey K., Port Richey; his mother, Geraldine L. Emerick, New Port Richey; and a sister, Pamela K. Cook, Montana.
Michels and Lundquist Funeral Home, New Port Richey, was in charge of arrangements.
JOSEPH P. DERRICO
CUMBERLAND - Joseph P. "Pippy" Derrico, 84, of Cumberland, died Friday, June 18, 1999, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland.
Born Feb. 13, 1914, he was the son of the late Rocco Derrico and the late Josephine Derrico Calvetto.
Mr. Derrico was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was retired as a barber in Cumberland, and was a private pilot and instructor for many years at Mexico Farms and the Cumberland Airport.
Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Olive R. (Davis) Derrico; two daughters, Mary Jo MacDonald, Winter Park, Fla, and Jeanne Boston, Baltimore; one son, Joseph Michael Derrico, Orlando, Fla.; three grandsons, Michael Diehl, Troy MacDonald and Chad Boston; three granddaughters, Michelle Young and husband Steve, Heather Derrico and Beth Derrico; two great-granddaughters, Brittany and Ashley; and two brothers, Herbert Natale and Carl Natale, Cumberland.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday at 1 p.m. with Father Milton A. Hipsley officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
ROSEMARY L. GLENN
CUMBERLAND - Rosemary L. Glenn, 42, of Reservoir Avenue, formerly of Neffsville, State Line, Bedford County, Pa., died Friday, April 16, 1999, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland.
Born Aug. 1, 1956, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of Arvilla M. (Logsdon) Lowery and the late Robert L. Lowery.
Mrs. Glenn, a homemaker, is survived by her husband, Johnny A. Glenn, whom she married
May 18, 1996; a brother, Leroy M. Lowery, Hyndman, Pa.; a niece, Barbara Marie Lowery; and a nephew, Robert L. Lowery.
Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Hyndman, on Monday, April 19, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday, April 20, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Robert Hartung, Wiley Ford, W.Va., Family Ministry, officiating.
Interment will be in Porter Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Wiley Ford, W.Va., Family Ministry.
MARY E. DETRICK
GRANTSVILLE - Mary Elma Otto Detrick, 90, of Grantsville, formerly of Beallsville, Pa., died at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 8, 1999, at Goodwill Mennonite Home, Grantsville.
Born Jan. 1, 1909, in Barton, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Emily (George) Jankey.
Mrs. Detrick was a former member of Beallsville United Presbyterian Church, where she was a teacher in Jennie Craig Sunday School class.
She was a graduate of Frostburg Normal College, Frostburg, and had been an elementary teacher in Garrett County elementary schools.
In 1933, she married
Loraine Otto, who died in 1949, and in 1955, she married
Raymond Detrick, who died Dec. 4, 1992. She also was preceded in death by a grandson, Robert Loraine Otto Jr.
Surviving are two daughters, Helen Hetrick, Grantsville, and Janice Litton, Beallsville; two sons, Robert Otto, Midland, and Louis Detrick, Eighty Four, Pa.; 12 grandchildren, Ann, Motayar, William and Donald Hetrick, Carol Harris, Dean Otto, Robin Partin, Raymond Fairgrieve, Rhonda Barlow, Peter Palmo, and Lindsey and Adam Detrick; four step-grandchildren, Karen Harper and Jean, Carrie and Rebecca Litton; 10 great-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.
Friends were received at the Greenlee Funeral Home, Beallsville, Pa., where services were held on Saturday, Sept. 11, 1999, with the Rev. Ann Painter officiating.
Interment was in Trinity United Church of Christ Cemetery, New Germany, Md.
