RAYMOND F. DREES
FINZEL - Raymond F. "Buddy"Drees, 77, of 394 Finzel Road, Finzel, died Thursday, Dec. 31, 1998, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born Dec. 26, 1921, in Finzel, he was the son of the late Albert and Pearl (Minnick) Drees. He also was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald Drees and Harold Drees.
Mr. Drees was retired as a carpenter of Bridge and Building for Western Maryland Railroad. He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he was a member of Farrady Post 24 American Legion, Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 40, Frostburg, and Old Rail Post 6025 VFW, Mount Savage.
Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Helen (Clark) Drees; two sons, Junior Raymond Drees and wife Dolly, Finzel, and Bernard E. Drees and wife Kimberly, Hagerstown; two daughters, Deborah Green and husband Kenneth and Bonnie Robison and husband John, all of Avilton; one brother, Bernard C. Drees, Finzel; four sisters, Mabel Miller, Schellsburg, Pa., Genevieve Wilhelm, Pocahontas, Pa., Hilda Miller, Pocahontas, and Margaretta Festerman, York, Pa.; 15 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Michael's Catholic Church on Monday at 9 a.m. with the Rev. Father Paul Byrnes as celebrant.
Interment will be in the Maryland State Veterans cemetery at Rocky Gap. Military honors will be accorded at the graveside by the Farrady Post 24 American Legion Honor Guard.
Pallbearers will be members of Old Rail Post 6025 VFW.
The family requests that memorials be directed to the Eastern Garrett County Volunteer Fire Department.
ARTHUR C. EVANS
CUMBERLAND - Arthur Conway Evans, 86, of the Allegany County Nursing Home, formerly of Rawlings, died Thursday, Oct. 21, 1999, at the nursing home.
Born on Sept. 16, 1913, at Swan Pond, Wiley Ford, W.Va., he was the son of the late Felix Evans. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Deane Ward Evans; two brothers, William Evans and Charles Evans; and one sister, Ethel Skinner.
Mr. Evans was retired from the Celanese Corporation and a retired pipefitter for Yoder's. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Rawlings United Methodist Church and a lifetime member of the McCoole VFW. He was a former member of the Pipefitters Union.
Surviving are one daughter, Roberta Moyer, Elkins, W.Va.; one stepson, E. Ward Jamison, Colorado Springs, Colo.; one brother, Clarence Evans, Cumberland; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., Cresaptown, Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home, Saturday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Dr. Gary W. Trail, officiating.
Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens, LaVale.
Graveside military honors will be accorded by the Combined Veterans Honor Guard.
ETHEL D. GIBSON
CUMBERLAND - Ethel Dale "Granny"Gibson, 85, of 535 N. Mechanic St., Cumberland, died Tuesday, Feb. 9, 1999, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born Sept. 15, 1913, in Moorefield, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Phillip and Leona Miller. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Gibson.
Mrs. Gibson was a former employee of the M&M; Restaurant and retired from Cas Taylor's Restaurant. She was a member of the Cumberland Church of God. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Surviving are two daughters, Geneva Conley and husband George, Cumberland, and Rosezella Jeffries and husband Robert, Falmouth, Va.; one son, Byrl Gibson and wife Peggy, Chesapeake Beach; six grandchildren, Penny Penrod, Kelly Winterberg, Chrystal Conley, Tonya Conley, Robert Jeffries Jr. and Warren J. Jeffries; and nine great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home Friday at 10 a.m. with Chaplain Diane Smith officiating.
Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Cumberland.
The family requests that contributions be made to the Sacred Heart Hospital Hospice Unit.
Pallbearers will be Garry Penrod, Paul Penrod, George Conley, Shawn Winterberg, Robert Madero and Roy Lewis.
MONTY A. GUM
LEESBURG, Va. - Monty Allan Gum, 30, of Leesburg, formerly of Flintstone, Md., died Wednesday, Sept. 15, 1999.
Born May 21, 1969, he was the oldest son of Paul Jackson Gum, Leesburg, and Pamela Owens Gum Hoffman, Sierra Vista, Ariz.
Surviving are two brothers, Shawn and Matthew Gum, Winchester, Va.; grandmother Imogene Owens, Cumberland; grandmother Mamie Gum, Winchester; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins; and nephew, Chris Gum, Winchester.
Monty grew up in Berryville, Va., attended Loudoun Valley High School, Fairfax Community College, and was a carpenter by trade. Monty had spent most of the last year helping his aunt settle in Flintstone. Monty loved being outdoors in nature with his animals, and will be deeply missed by all family members and friends.
Family graveside services were held Sunday, Sept. 19, 1999, at Lovettsville Union Cemetery. Arrangements by Loudoun Funeral Chapel, Leesburg.

RONALD J. FOUTZ
WESTERNPORT - Ronald Junior Foutz, 66, of 420 Hammond St., Westernport, died on Wednesday, April 14, 1999, at home.
Born on April 6, 1933, at Westernport, he was the son of the late Quigley and Arlie (Reeves) Foutz.
Mr. Foutz was retired from Westvaco Corp., having worked in the Quality Control lab. He attended the Assembly of God Church. Mr. Foutz was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.
Surviving are his wife, Lorraine (Bradley) Foutz; two sons, Ronald Lee Foutz and wife Elaine, Westernport, and Richard Hahn Foutz and wife Vicki of Keyser, W.Va.; one daughter, Rhonda Mou and husband the Rev. James of Kitzmiller; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Friday, April 16, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
The funeral service will be conducted in the funeral home chapel on Saturday, April 17, at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Jerry Schloe officiating.
Interment will be in the Philos Cemetery, Westernport.
MARGARET E. DREYER
CUMBERLAND - Margaret Elizabeth "Peggy" Dreyer, 64, of Brandenburg Center, Cumberland, died Friday, Oct. 1, 1999, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born Jan. 17, 1935, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Raymond R. Dreyer, Sr., and the late Marie Ellen (Sullivan) Dreyer.
Surviving are two sisters, Patricia L. Llewellyn, Cumberland, and JoAnn Craig and husband Paul, North Fort Meyers, Fla.; a brother, Raymond R. Dreyer, Jr., and wife, Laura, Peniscola, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Sunday evening from 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted on Monday at 10 a.m. at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., with the Rev. Wayne R. Turner, officiating.
Interment will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.
