JAMES E. DROPPLEMAN
KITZMILLER - James Edward Droppleman, 77, of Kitzmiller, died Thursday, March 4, 1999, at Garrett County Memorial Hospital.
Born Sept. 22, 1921, in Elk Garden, W.Va., he was a son of the late John and Margaret (Hickey) Droppleman.
Mr. Droppleman worked for the Droppleman Brothers Coal Co. and retired as an inspector for the Maryland Bureau of Mines. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and member of the American Legion, Disabled Veterans, Keyser VFW and Immaculate Conception Church, Kitzmiller.
Surviving are his wife, Mildred (Keller) Droppleman; one son, James and wife Kathy Droppleman, Oakland; one daughter, Sandra Kalbaugh and husband Sam, Keyser, W.Va.; two sisters, Bernadette Hottle, Elk Garden, and Margaret Kalbaugh, Belpre, Ohio; and five grandchildren, Krista Kalbaugh, Keyser, Amy Kalbaugh, Morgantown, W.Va., Jonathan Kalbaugh, Keyser, Jeff Droppleman and Jamie Droppleman, both of Swanton.
Friends will be received at the David A. Burdock Funeral Home, Kitzmiller, Friday from 6 to 9 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Immaculate Conception Church, Kitzmiller, Saturday at 9:30 a.m. with Father Donald Larson as celebrant.
Interment will be in the Kalbaugh Cemetery, Elk Garden.
DONALD L. GROVE
WESTERNPORT - Donald Lee Grove, 71, of 211 Poplar St., Westernport, died Wednesday, Oct. 20, 1999, at his residence.
Born Feb. 14, 1928, in Allegany County, he was the son of the late Robert and Nellie Grove, Westernport.
Mr. Grove retired from Westvaco after serving 44 years with the company. He retired as a Master papermaker on #8 Paper Machine. He was a member of Saint James Episcopal Church, Westernport, the Upper Potomac Rod & Gun Club, the Black Hawk Tribe #131, and the Swanton Senior Citizen Center. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Mr. Grove was truly loved by all and will be greatly missed.
Surviving are his loving wife of 51 years, Dorothy (Broadwater) Grove; two sons, Ronald Lee Grove and wife Beverly, and David Alan Grove and wife Kathleen, all of Westernport. He was very fortunate to share in the lives of six grandchildren, Jeff Grove and wife Kristen, Seattle, Wash., Christie Kimble and husband George, McCoole, Mishawn Vinci and husband Robbie, Michelle Grove and Jason Whetzel, R. Aden Grove and M. Danielle Grove, all of Westernport. He has seven great-grandchildren, Tiffany, Brianna, Marina, Trey, Robbie, Westley, and Jada Lee.
The family will receive friends at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, Friday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted there on Saturday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Sandra Harshberger officiating.
Interment will be in Rest Lawn Memorial Gardens, LaVale.
ROSELLA M. DRUM
CATONSVILLE - Rosella May (Dolan) Drum, 76, of Catonsville, formerly of Oldtown, died Sunday, July 18, 1999, at home.
She graduated in 1942 from Oldtown High School.
She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph P. Drum; devoted mother of Patrick V. Drum Sr., Eileen C. Bangs, Joseph M. Drum and Susan R. Ralko; mother-in-law of Dalene Drum, Jack Bangs, Gail Drum and Michael Ralko; and loving sister of Virginia Sisler. She also is survived by 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Witzke Funeral Home of Catonsville Inc., 1630 Edmonson Ave., one mile west off Beltway Exit 14, on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mark Chapel, Melvin Avenue, Catonsville, on Thursday at 10 a.m.
Interment will be in St. Michael's Cemetery, Frostburg.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Baltimore Central Maryland League for Crippled Children and Adults, 1111 E. Cold Spring Lane, Baltimore, MD 21239.
HERMAN N. DUCKWORTH
RAWLINGS - Herman N. Duckworth, 87, of 20009 McMullen Highway, SW, Rawlings, died Thursday, April 8, 1999, at the Lions Manor Nursing Home, Cumberland.
He was born on March 13, 1912, at Westernport, the son of the late Nimrod and Vernie (Lambert) Duckworth, and grew up in Midland. He also was preceded in death by six sisters, Hilda Duckworth, Geraldine Duckworth, Pansy Lease, Margaret Stakem, Violet Popp and Blanche Grindle; and two grandsons, Adam Cool and Eric Belcher.
He was a longtime faithful member of Rawlings United Methodist Church, and was baptized at the First Baptist Church in Westernport in 1924. Mr. Duckworth was employed by the Celanese Amcelle Corp. in the spinning department for 43 years. After retirement, he was an avid gardener and sold produce at a vegetable stand at his home.
Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Elizabeth (Carr) Duckworth; one son, THomas Duckworth and wife Kathy, Rawlings; one daughter, Vernie Groves and husband Joe, Thurmont; three sisters, Gladys Lease, Baltimore, Josephine Stakem, California, and Pauline Hildebrant, South Dakota; one brother, Joseph Brownie Duckworth, Colorado; seven grandchildren, Karl Duckworth and fiancee Julie Newman, Baton Rouge, La., Sonja Belcher and husband Mike, Cresaptown, Md., Gina Clarke and husband Kenny, Walkersville, Md., Terri Eiker and husband Marvin, Thurmont, Md., Judy Downs and husband Jeff, Walkersville, Md., Karen Sanders and husband Bob, Blue Ridge Summit, Pa., and Leslie Cool and husband Junior, Emmitsburg, Md.; 10 great-grandchildren, Seth Belcher, Desiree and Kris Clarke, Chasity Groves and fiance Dickie Cool, Sarah and Katie Downs, Dylan and Andrew Sanders, and Kellie and Roxan Cool; and one great-great-grandson, Jonathan Cool.
Friends may call at the Rotruck-Smith Funeral Home, Keyser, on Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted in the funeral home chapel on Sunday at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Dr. Gary Trail officiating.
Interment will be in the Waxler Cemetery, Rawlings.

DOROTHY M. DUDLEY
FROSTBURG - Dorothy M. Dudley, 84, of Frostburg, died Sunday, July 18, 1999, at her home.
Born Feb. 5, 1915, in Lonaconing, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Margaret (Michael) Monahan. She also was preceded in death by her husband, J. Harold Dudley, on March 4, 1994; and three brothers, Edward, William and Harold Monahan.
Mrs. Dudley was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church and the Sodality.
Surviving are two sons, Edward Dudley and wife Susie, Sumerduck, Va., and Samuel Dudley and wife "Smoke," Frostburg; one daughter, Sondra Ritchie, Frostburg; nine grandchildren, Angie Hovatter and husband Jay, Matt Ritchie and wife Linda, Andi Miller and husband Wayne, Emmy Kitis and husband Mike, Kevin Dudley and wife Angie, Brandon Dudley, Lisa Dudley, J.W. Dudley and Brandi Dudley; six great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Jewel Monahan, Talmidge, Ohio, and Joann Barnard, Lonaconing.
Friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral Home, P.A., 60 W. Main St., Frostburg, on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Prayers will be recited at 8:30 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Micahel's Catholic Church on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Father William E. Moody as celebrant.
Interment will be in the Eckhart Cemetery.

FRANK W. DUNCAN JR.
FROSTBURG - Frank W. "Wootsie" Duncan Jr., 65, of 152 Center St., Frostburg, died Thursday, Aug. 5, 1999, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born July 30, 1933, in Frostburg, he was the son of Novella (Stevenson) Duncan, of Frostburg, and the late Frank Duncan. He also was preceded in death by one brother, John "Buck" Duncan.
Mr. Duncan was a retired bartender from the American Legion, Farrady Post 24. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of American Legion Farrady Post 24 and the Mount Savage VFW Old Rail Post 6025.
Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife, Maureen "Marty" (Clark) Duncan; two sons, Frank W. Duncan III, Gaithersburg, and Robert Gilkey, Woodstown, N.J.; one daughter, Lisa Pease, Frostburg; one grandson, Jeffrey Tyler Pease; one brother, James Duncan and wife Elaine, Frostburg; two sisters, Willa Reed and husband Roy, Frostburg, and Sandra DeLorge and husband Fred, St. Leonard; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral Home, P.A., 60 W. Main St., Frostburg, on Friday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Butch Bowersox and the Rev. Jack R. Pease officiating.
Interment will be in Frostburg Memorial Park. Graveside military rites will be accorded by American Legion Farrady Post 24 and VFW Old Rail Post 6025.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Kergan, Ronald J. Hess, Jimmy Dale Williams, Bob Coburn, Bob Allen and Joe Pryor.
