JEAN M. STEELE
Jean Morton Steele, 82, formerly of Lonaconing, died Friday, March 3, 2000, at her home in Baltimore.
Mrs. Steele was preceded in death by her husband, Stuart Steele.
Surviving are two daughters, Irene Smith, Baltimore, Mary Jean Braith-waite, Swanton; two sisters, Elsie Morton, Frostburg, and Elmira Tipton, Cumberland; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Friends were received at the Sowers Funeral Home, Frostburg, where a service was conducted Monday, March 6, with her nephew, the Rev. Dwight Simpson, officiating. Interment was in Sunset Memorial Park.
MABEL E. MANGES
Mabel E. Manges, 81, formerly of Frostburg, died Saturday, March 4, 2000, at the Egle Nursing Home, Lonaconing.
Born Nov. 15, 1918, in Carlos, she was a daughter of the late William and Edith (Adams) Walker. She was also preceded in death by two husbands, Robert Brown and Cobern Walker; two daughters, Barbara Fram and Sandra Lewis; one brother, William Walker; and one sister, Lillian Filer.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Shaft United Methodist Church.
Surviving four grandsons, including Thomas Fram, Grantsville; four sisters, Pearl Monahan, Mary (Shirey) Keiling, and Agnes Rice, all of Frostburg, and Phyllis Phillips, Cresaptown; and six great-grandchildren.
Friends were received at the Durst Funeral Home, Frostburg. A service was conducted at the Shaft United Methodist Church on Tuesday, March 7, with the Rev. Dr. Neva Leatherwood officiating. Interment was in Frostburg Memorial Park.
NEVIN L. WARNICK
Nevin L. Warnick, 81, Essex, died Sunday, March 5, 2000, at Hospice of Baltimore, Towson.
Born Aug. 16, 1918, in Jennings, he was a son of the late Olin and Birdie Ruth (Warnick) Warnick. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Homer Warnick, and a sister, Freda Main.
He was a retired drophammer operator for Martin-Marietta Corp. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Jennings, and was a 50-year member of Woodmen of the World, Camp 41, Grantsville. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of the Essex VFW.
Survivors include his wife, Gladys V. (Beachy) Warnick, and one brother, Marvin Warnick Sr., Essex.
Friends were received at the Brudzinski Funeral Home, Essex, and may call at the Newman Funeral Home, Grantsville, from 7 to 9 p.m. today, Thursday. A service will be conducted at the fu-neral home on Friday, March 10, at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Raymond Brown officiating. Interment will follow in the Grantsville cemetery.
Expressions of sympathy may be directed to the Zion Lutheran Church.
THEODORE F. MARRA
Theodore Francis Marra, 82, Accident, died Thursday, Feb. 24, 2000, at Garrett County Memorial Hospital, Oakland.
Born June 22, 1917, in Brooklyn, N.Y., he was the son of the late Waldo and Mary (Galvin) Marra. He was also preceded in death by two wives, Josephine (Matthews) Marra and Leila (Rogers) Speicher Marra.
He was a mechanical engineer for Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company. He was a member of the Bear Creek Church of the Brethren, Accident.
Survivors include one son, Theodore R. Marra, Reston, Va.; one half-brother, Richard Connelly, San Diego, Calif.; and three grand-children.
At the deceased's request, his body was cremated. A memorial service will be conducted at a later date.
The Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., Grantsville, are in charge of arrangements.
MERVIN E. SHAMBAUGH
U.S. Army Sergeant First Class (retired) Mervin E. Shambaugh, 79, Newport News, Va., died Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2000, at the St. Francis Nursing Home.
A native of Gormania, W.Va., he had been a resident of Newport News for 34 years.
He retired from Fort Eustis in 1972 after 32 years of service. He also retired from his job for the city of Newport News as an electrician after 10 years of service. He was a member of the local VFW.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Joan Shambaugh; three daughters, Patricia Ann Hicks, Newport News, formerly of Oakland, Marjorie Sue Wanzer, Columbus, Ga., and Mary Anne Rauchfuss, Chesapeake, Va.; two sisters, Louise Knotts, St. George, W.Va., and Audria G. King, Oakland; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Friends were received at the Umphlett Funeral Home, Newport News. Interment, with full military honors, was March 2, at Arlington National Cemetery.
BLAINE W. MEYERS
Blaine Wilbur Meyers, 60, Friendsville, died Tuesday, March 7, 2000, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland.
Born Sept. 7, 1939, in Friendsville, he was a son of Ethel (Friend) Meyers and the late Cubert Meyers.
He was a heavy equipment operator and truck driver for Meyers Lumber, Markleysburg, Pa. He was a member of the Blooming Rose United Methodist Church, Friendsville.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Lilly (Coddington) Meyers; one son, Charles Meyers, Friendsville; five brothers, James Meyers and Walter Meyers, both of Friendsville, Dale Meyers, Addison, Pa., Paul Edward Meyers, Somerset, Pa., and Richard Meyers, Brandon, Fla.; and one sister, Helen Lancaster, Friendsville.
Friends were received at the Newman Funeral Home, Friendsville, where a service was conducted at 2 p.m. today, March 9, with the Rev. Robert Milliren officiating. Interment was in the Sand Spring Cemetery, Friendsville.
DOROTHY L. LEIGHTON
Dorothy L. "Dottie" Leighton, 69, Oakland, died today, March 9, at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, W.Va.
Born March 19, 1930, in Cumberland, she was a daughter of the late Walter B. and Mabel (Chapin) Brock.
She helped found the Garrett County League of Women Voters, was a member of the Garrett County Historical Society, where she served on the fund raising committee; was a member of the Garrett County Arts Council; and was a charter member of the Garrett Lakes Arts Festival.
She taught music for many years in Keyser, W.Va., and in Baltimore area schools. She was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Oakland, where she served for 25 years as the choir director.
Surviving are her husband, Dr. Herbert H. Leighton; three daughters, Dr. Barbara Leighton, Philadelphia, Pa., Catherine E. Boulter, Lima, Ohio, and Ann E. Leighton, Oakland; one son, Vernon Leighton, Winona, Minn.; two sisters, Marian B. See, Baltimore, and Edith G. Brock, Mtn. Lake Park; two brothers, Richard W. Brock, Florham Park, N.J., and Lawrence W. Brock, Indianapolis, Ind.; and seven grand-children.
The Durst Funeral Home in Oakland is in charge of arrangements which are in-complete.
The family suggests memorials take the form of contributions to the Ruth Enlow Library, the Garrett County Historical Society, or a charity of the donor's choice.
RUTH S. WRIGHT
Ruth S. Wright, 80, Winchester, Va., formerly of Rowlesburg, W.Va., died Thursday, Feb. 24, 2000, in Winchester.
Born Aug. 9, 1919, in Rowlesburg, she was a daughter of the late William J. and Phoebe (Bolyard) Calhoun. She was also preceded in death by her husband, John R. Wright; four brothers, Clarence and Willis Hayes and Lawrence and Roy Calhoun; and one sister, Stella Goff.
She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, Rowlesburg, and was a homemaker.
Survivors include one son, Robert W. Wright, Tunnelton, W.Va.; one daughter, Linda Stemple, Winchester; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Friends were received at the Browning Funeral Home, Burke Chapel, Rowlesburg, where a service was conducted Sunday, Feb. 27, with the Rev. Marvin Cline officiating. Interment was in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Oakland.
E. PHEBE SPOONER
E. Phebe Spooner, 73, Oakland, died Thursday, Feb. 24, 2000, at her home.
Born Sept. 28, 1926, in Chelmsford, Essex, England, she was a daughter of the late Edwin J. and Winifred M. (Rolfe) Cleave. She was also preceded in death by two husbands, Burl Kegley Sr. and Alfred J. "Alf" Spooner; one son, Burl Kegley Jr.; and one sister, Joan Brady.
She was a graduate of the Rainsford, England, Secondary School, and was a former bus conductor for the Eastern National Bus Co., Chelmsford, England.
Survivors include two daughters, Zelma Neary, Mountain Lake Park, and Joan Rounds, Oakland; four sisters, Mary Padgham and Dolly French, both of Chelmsford, Edna Michaels, San Antonio, Texas, and Jean Monk, Clactonon-Sea, England; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Friends were received at the Stewart Funeral Home, Oakland, where a service was conducted Sunday, Feb. 27, with the Rev. Gail Hixon officiating. Interment was in Garrett County Memorial Gardens, Oakland.
JOSEPH F. DAVIS
Joseph F. Davis, 63, Oakland, died Saturday, Feb. 26, 2000, at Garrett County Memorial Hospital, Oakland.
Born July 26, 1936, in Vennettsville, S.C., he was the son of the late Frank "Toby" Davis and Laura Davis Lenezer.
He was a retired salesman for the Pepsi-Cola Co., Cheverly.
Survivors include his wife, Harriett (Disney) Davis; one son, Robert L. Davis Sr., Clearwater, Fla.; and two grandsons.
At the deceased's request, his body was cremated. A memorial service will be conducted at a later date.

FRANK L. BLAMBLE
Frank L. Blamble, 93, Oakland, died Thursday, Feb. 24, 2000, at his home.
Born April 29, 1906, in Oakland, he was the son of the late John and Letetia (Feather) Blamble. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Madelein M. "Woodie" (Hilleary) Blamble, in 1992.
He was a member of the Fairview Church of the Brethren. He was a retired farmer who raised and butchered black Angus beef cattle. He was retired from the Garrett County Roads Department.
Survivors include two daughters, Sophronia L. LaPere, Porterville, Calif., and Jannie M. Yilmaz, Oakland; one son, John E. Blamble, Kill Buck, N.Y.; two grandsons whom he reared, Chuck Blamble, Oakland, and John Blamble, Norfolk, Va.; four additional grandsons; and three great-grandchildren.
Friends were received at the Stewart Funeral Home, Oakland. A service was conducted at the Fairview Church of the Brethren on Sunday, Feb. 27, with the Rev. David Moon officiating. Interment was in the Fairsweep Cemetery, Oakland.
