CHARLES R. EMERICK
MOUNT SAVAGE - Charles Robert "Sonny" Emerick, 67, of Mount Savage, died Monday, Aug. 16, 1999.
Born Oct. 6, 1931, in Barrelville, he was the son of Raymond Emerick, Boonsboro, and the late Beulah (Michaels) Emerick. He also was preceded in death by his wife, H. Claudine (Pancake) Emerick, and one brother, Donald Emerick.
Mr. Emerick was a retired machinist for CSX Transportation Co. He was a US Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a 1949 graduate of Beall High School, a crew member of the Valley Racing Team, trustee and gold card member of the Barrelville Outdoor Club, member of the Allegany and Garrett Counties Sportsmen Assoc., where he had served as President for 16 years. He was also a member of the American Assoc. of Retired Persons, Mason Dixon Saddle Club, National Rifle Assoc., Cresaptown Eagles and the American Legion Fort Cumberland Post 13. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, who enjoyed the outdoors.
In addition to his father, surviving are, one daughter, Debbie L. Winters and husband Mike, Mount Savage; two grandchildren, Aubrie L. Davis and husband Brian, Jared S. Martin, all of Mount Savage; one great-grandson, Tyler W. Davis; two sisters, Helen House and husband Leroy, Boonsboro, Barbara Claggett, Hagerstown; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends will be received at Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home Thursday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Richard Broome, Jr. officiating.
Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens, LaVale.
C. ERNEST FITZWATER
BOWLING GREEN - C. Ernest Fitzwater, 87, of Bowling Green, died Sunday, Sept. 19, 1999, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born Sept. 16, 1912, in Swanton, he was the son of the late James Albert and Ada (Howell) Fitzwater. He also was preceded in death by his brother, Arthur Fitzwater; and three sisters, Mabel Fitzwater, Elizabeth Riley and Nora Fitzwater.
Mr. Fitzwater was a veteran having served in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers during World War II. He owned and operated the Mineral Coal Company of West Virginia. The mining operation was located in Philippi, W.Va. He was a member of Kingsley United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Nadine Marie (Hardesty) Fitzwater; two daughters, Nancy Diggs, Glendale, and Lynda Poore, Dunkirk; one sister, Hulda Elliott, Plainfield, N.J.; five grandchildren, James Diggs Jr., Malynda Kettner, Jason Diggs, Nora Diggs and Charles Poore; and two great-grandchildren, Melanie Kettner and Jakob Diggs.
Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, P.A., 202 Greene St., Cumberland, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Richard Jewell officiating.
Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.

ERNEST C. EMERY
LAVALE - Ernest Clifton Emery, 100, of LaVale, died Friday, Oct. 8, 1999, in Memorial Hospital.
Born in Mineral County, W.Va., on March 27, 1899, he was the son of the late John and Hannah Emery. He also was preceded in death by his wife, Willabelle Emery; two sisters; and four brothers.
Mr. Emery was retired as an electrician with the Kelly Springfield Tire Company, was a member of LaVale United Methodist Church, member of the Ohr Lodge 131 A.F. and A.M., Cumberland, member of the Scottish Rite since 1942, a charter member of the Tall Cedars, the Ali Ghan Shrine Club and Ali Ghan Legion of Honor.
Survivors are two nephews, Richard Robey and wife, Bettina, of Baltimore, and Harold Robey and wife, Mae, of Chicago, Ill.
Friends will be received in the Hafer Chapel of the Hills Mortuary, 1302 National Hwy., LaVale, on Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. Masonic services will be conducted at the funeral home Monday at 7:30 p.m.
Services will be conducted in the funeral home chapel on Tuesday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Lowell Garland, officiating.
Interment will follow in Davis Memorial Cemetery, Cumberland.
LEO C. EMRICK
CUMBERLAND - Leo Curtis Emrick, 89, of Valley Road, Cumberland, died Friday, Sept. 3, 1999, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland.
Born June 22, 1910, in Fairhope, Pa., he was a son of the late Richard Commadore and Martha Mazure (Kennell) Emrick. He also was preceded in death by five brothers and four sisters. Mr. Emrick was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Mr. Emrick is survived by his wife of 54 years, Eva Elizabeth (Emerick) Emrick, whom he married
on July 6, 1954.
Mr. Emrick, former fire chief and car man, worked for the B&O; Railroad for 47 years, and was former chief and charter member of Bowman's Addition Fire Company.
Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Hyndman, Pa., on Sunday, Sept. 5, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and at Comps Church on Monday, Sept. 6, from 1 to 2 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the church on Monday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Edward Shockey officiating.
Interment will be in the Comps Cemetery.
EDWARD F. ENDERLE
CUMBERLAND - Edward "Ed" Frank Enderle, 65, of 730 Adams Ave., Cumberland, died Friday, Dec. 3, 1999, at Memorial Hospital.
Born April 24, 1934, in Elmira, N.Y., he was the son of the late Clifford and Sarah Helen (Hutchinson) Enderle. He also was preceded in death by one brother, Joseph Enderle.
Mr. Enderle was a retired radio personality in the local area. He also was a political talk show host in the Washington, D.C. market, and was a professional opera singer years ago in New York prior to being located in Cumberland. He was an army veteran of the Korean War, and a member of the Christ United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Linda (Fuller) Enderle; one son, Eric Edward Enderle, Valley, Ala.; two daughters, Ingrid Enderle Smith and husband Len, Harrisburg, Pa., and Heidi Diaz and husband Matthew, Cumberland; two brothers, Ronald Enderle, Wellsboro, Pa., and Phillip Enderle, Elkland, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews. At Mr. Enderle's request, he was cremated at the Cumberland Crematory.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in the Christ United Methodist Church.
Inurnment of ashes will be at the Rocky Gap Veterans Cemetery.
The Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, was in charge of arrangements. The family requests that expressions of sympathy in the form of donations be made to the Christ United Methodist Church, 4th and Race Streets, Cumberland, MD 21502, or the American Heart Association.
GEORGE L. EPPLER
WESTMINSTER - George L. Eppler of Westminster, died March 18, 1999, at home.
He was the husband of the late Dorothy Eyerman Eppler; father of Frederick Eppler, Westminster; and Jean Harris, Taneytown; father-in-law of Emma Eppler; and Jerry Harris. He is also survived by five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
He was a brother of the late Willliam Peterman and John Eppler.
Friends may call at Pritts Funeral Home and Chapel, 412 Washington Road, Westminster, on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m., at which time services will start.
Private graveside services will be conducted at Greenmount Cemetery, Cumberland. Graveside services will be Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. at the cemetery.

MICHAEL AUGUSTINE GARRETT II
PASADENA - Michael Augustine Garrett II, 59, of Bayside Drive, Pasadena, died Thursday, May 20, 1999, at his home.
Born on Oct. 12, 1939, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Robert Browning Garrett Sr. and Nelle C. (Nethken) Garrett.
A graduate of Loyola High School and Loyola College in Baltimore, he retired in 1995 after 35 years as a special agent for the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
He is survived by two sisters, Sheila G. Reams, Niantic, Conn., and Jane G. Nolan, Deer Park; and two brothers, Robert B. Garrett Jr., Timonium, and Patrick J. Garrett II, Crofton.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Oakland, on Sunday, May 23, 1999, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Fr. Donald Parson as celebrant.
Interment will be in the Oakland Cemetery.
The Stewart Funeral Home, Oakland, is in charge of arrangements.
