ACCIDENT - Alice Louise Kolb, 79, of 59 Emerald Valley Drive, Accident, died Wednesday, Sept. 8, 1999, at Garrett County Memorial Hospital, Oakland.
Born March 15, 1920, in Somerfield, Pa., she was a daughter of the late Tarlton and Ella (Leslie) Collier. She also was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Glen Collier.
Mrs. Kolb was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, M.S., the Cove, and was a homemaker. She was a former co-owner of the Kolb Country Store in Accident.
Surviving are her husband of 56 years, Richard J. Kolb, to whom she was married
Nov. 14, 1943; two sons, Paul Kolb and wife Saundra, Accident, and Fred Kolb and wife Sara, Charleston, W.Va.; and three grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., Grantsville, on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m., and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at St. John's Lutheran Church on Saturday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Douglas Kabell officiating.
Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the services. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
LEOLA B. LONGERBEAM
CRESAPTOWN - Leola Bowman Longerbeam, 78, of Cresaptown, died Wednesday, Feb. 24, 1999, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born Aug. 23, 1920, in Salisbury, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Miller and May (Holler) Bowman.
Mrs. Longerbeam attended the First English Baptist Church in Frostburg. She was a member of the Cresaptown F.O. Eagles 2883, and was retired from the Celanese Corp.
Surviving are a son, Darrell Bowman, Cresaptown; a brother, Mike Bowman, Cresaptown; three grandchildren, Brent Bowman, Cresaptown, Todd Bowman, LaVale, and James Coleman, Cresaptown; and three great-grandchildren, James Coleman, Blake Bowman and Joel Bowman.
Services will be conducted at the Hafer Chapel of the Hills Mortuary, 1302 National Highway, LaVale, on Thursday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. David Sandvick officiating.
Interment will follow in the Salisbury Cemetery, Salisbury, Pa.
Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Leola to the First English Baptist Church Building Fund, 136 E. Main St., Frostburg, MD 21532.
The family would like to extend thanks to the Greater Baltimore Medical Center, the IDF and Sacred Heart Hospital.
SANDY L. HARVEY
SWANTON - Sandy L. Harvey, 51, of Mount Zion Road, Swanton, died Sunday, Oct. 10, 1999, at her residence.
Born June 13, 1948, at Mount Zion, she was the daughter of the late Guy Duckworth.
Mrs. Harvey was Catholic by faith.
She was a graduate of Southern High School, in Oakland, and had worked for the U.S. Agriculture Department, Washington, D.C., Deer Park Spring Water Company, and Laurel Run Coal Company.
Surviving are her mother, Vera (Hamilton) Duckworth; two sons, Jeffrey W. Harvey and wife, Phyllis, of Alabama, Douglas Harvey and wife, Valjean, of San Leandro, Calif.; one brother, Donnie Duckworth and wife, Cathy, of Walnut Bottle; one sister, Joyce (Sue) Everett and husband, Daniel, of Swallow Falls; five grandchildren; and her maternal grandmother, Effie Tasker, of Moran Manor Nursing Home, Westernport.
Friends may call at the Fredlock Funeral Home, Wednesday, Oct. 13, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
A funeral service will be held there Thursday, Oct. 14, at 11 a.m. with the Father Jim Hannon, officiating.
Interment will be private.
Donations may be made to the rescue squad of their choice.
JOHN W. KAMAUFF
FROSTBURG - John William "Kaki" Kamauff, 62, of McCulloh St., Frostburg, died Monday, Nov. 15, 1999, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland.
Born Sept. 23, 1937, in Lonaconing, he was the son of the late Herman and Lanor (Fitzpatrick) Kamauff.
Mr. Kamauff was a retired lineman at Potomac Edison. He was a 1955 graduate of Valley High School. He was Catholic by faith. He was a member of Farrady Post 24 American Legion, Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge 470, member and past president of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 1273, life member and past governor of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 348, all of Frostburg, and he was an avid setback card player.
Surviving are his wife, Charlotte (Huston) Kamauff; two half sisters, Peggy Bevers and husband John, Olympia, Wash., and Judy Wilson and husband Charles, Olympia; two sons, Dr. John W. Kamauff Jr. and wife Susan, Baltimore, and Steven M. Kamauff and wife JoAnn, Manassas, Va.; three daughters, Karen Kamauff Devore and husband Mike, Cumberland, Kathy Miller and husband Michael, Meyersdale, Pa., and Kimberly Paul and husband Bryon, Frostburg; and 12 grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, P.A., 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Memorial services will be conducted at the funeral home on Thursday by members of the Frostburg Eagles at 7:30 p.m., Frostburg Moose at 8 p.m., and the Frostburg Elks at 8:30 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Michael's Catholic Church, Frostburg, on Friday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Father Paul Byrnes as celebrant.
Interment will be in the Frostburg Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be John Bartles, Tom Carter, Jarold Bittner, Jeff Kergan, Thomas Lillard and Keith Close. Honorary pallbearers will be Oberlin Chaney and John Bond.
Military honors will be accorded at graveside by the Farrady Post 24 Honor Guard.
A post-funeral dinner will be held at the Frostburg Moose Lodge.
KATHLEEN G. JOHNSTON
BALTIMORE - Kathleen G. Johnston, 82, of Baltimore, formerly of Cumberland, died Wednesday, Nov. 3, 1999, in Gilchrist Hospital Hospice Center, Baltimore.
Born July 12, 1917, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Luther and B. Pauline (Gardner) Grosh. She was also preceded in death by her husband, William E. Johnston; and a son, William E. Johnston, Jr.
Mrs. Johnston was a member of Centre Street United Methodist Church, Cumberland.
Surviving are her daughter, Mary Jo Lang, of Baltimore; grandchildren, Keith Lang, Kevin Lang, and Christine Johnston; two brothers, Charles Grosh, of Pacific Palisades, Calif., and James Grosh, of Los Altos, Calif.
Friends will be received at the Hafer Chapel of the Hills Mortuary, 1302 National Hwy., LaVale, on Saturday from 12 to 1 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted in the funeral home chapel Saturday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Lloyd McCanna officiating.
Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
S. RONALD "HUM" HUMBERTSON
CRESAPTOWN - S. Ronald "Hum" Humbertson, 57, of Cresaptown, lost his battle with cancer on Thursday, July 15, 1999, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland.
Born March 18, 1942, in Cumberland, he was the son of Salem "Pete" and Mary (Swach) Humbertson, Cumberland.
Mr. Humbertson was an employee of the Cumberland Times-News for 24 years, and McKesson Churchill for 10 years. He was a graduate of LaSalle High School Class of 1960 and a member of the Cumberland Outdoor Club, the Republican Club, and also a member of the National Hot Rod Association. He was a coach for the Pee Wee Football team and the PVAA Little League Baseball team.
He is survived by one daughter, Dawn-Yvette Mitchell and fiance, Michael Kincaid, Hagerstown; one son, Salem "Ty" Humbertson and wife, Misty, Ellerslie; two brothers, William Edward "Bill" Humbertson and wife, Cindy, Ohio, Gregory Allan Humbertson and wife, Corrie, Bel Air, Cumberland; one granddaughter, Kylie Allison Humbertson; his former wife of 34 years, Valerie Humbertson; four nephews; and one niece.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., Cresaptown, on Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Christian Wake service will be conducted at the funeral home on Sunday at 8:45 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church on Monday at 10 a.m. with Fr. Vernon Busch, O.F.M., Cap. as celebrant. At Mr. Humbertson's request his body will be cremated.
