RAYMOND. E. JONES
OAKLAND - Raymond E. "Jock" Jones, 55, of Oakland, died Sunday, Dec. 12, 1999, at his home.
Born July 18, 1944, in Garrett County, he was the son of Edna R. "Piddle" Jones of Oakland and the late Virgil R. Jones.
Mr. Jones was a farmer and timberman.
Surviving in addition to his mother, is his wife, Donna (Bosley) Jones; one son, Johnny R. Jones and wife Kim, Oakland; two daughters, Johnna S. Jones and Carol "Flip" Cussins and husband Greg, all of Oakland; one sister, Helen Gnegy, Oakland; four grandchildren, Catlin Jones, Jenny Jones, Cassy Cussins and Randy "Bubba" Cussins.
Friends may call at the Durst Funeral Home, Oakland, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with Mr. James Reed and the Rev. Charles Teets officiating.
Interment will be in the Jones Family Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Walter Kwarta, Gene Buckley, Brad Morris, Kelly Morris, Bill Didawick, and Billy Didawick. Other close friends will serve as honorary pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, family requests memorials take the form of contributions to the Hospice of Garrett County.
COURTNEY H. "COURT" KESSELL
MOUNT SAVAGE - Courtney H. "Court" Kessell, 83, of Mount Savage, died Wednesday, April 28, 1999, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland.
Born Jan. 27, 1916, in Moorefield, W.Va., he was the son of the late James and Maggie (Roadcap) Kessell. He was also preceded in death by two brothers; and three sisters.
Mr. Kessell was the retired owner and operator of Kessell's Used Cars and was a former staff member of the Celanese Corporation, Cumberland. He was Protestant by faith. He was a member and past president of the Barrelville Outdoor Club, a member of the Teamsters Bowling League, and was an avid hunter.
Surviving are his wife, Marion (Morgan) Kessell; three daughters, Sheila R. Cameron and husband, J.J., Mount Savage, Rhonda D. Hensel and husband, Tim, Corriganville, and Kim J. Emerick and husband, Mike, Neffsville, Pa.; one son, Randy R. Kessell and wife, Tanya, Mount Savage; five sisters, Leona Jewell, Fort Ashby, W.Va., Esther Goodfellow and husband, Russell, Springfield, W.Va., Ethel Michael, LaVale, Janet Dodson, Greensboro, N.C., and Gladys Phillips, California; six grandchildren, Kelly Hensel, Michael Kessell, Courtney Kessell, John Cameron, Katie Emerick and Dylan Emerick.
Friends will be received at Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, Friday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home Saturday at noon with Pastor James R. Glass officiating.
Entombment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens.
HELENA G. HAYS
WESTERNPORT - Helena G. Hays, 89, formerly of 400 Spruce Street, Westernport, died Wednesday, March 24, 1999, at the Egle Nursing Home, Lonaconing, where she had been a resident.
Born July 24, 1909, in Westernport, she was a daughter of the late George and Catherine (Neiffeneggar) Jonosha. She was also preceded in death by her husband, William A. Hays, four sisters, Anna Crowthers, Marguerite Hays, Frances Hays, Louise Juditz, and one brother, Carl Jonosha.
Mrs. Hays was a homemaker. She was a member of Mount Calvary Lutheran Church where she had served on the Altar Guild for many years. She was also a member of the Bethlehem Chapter No. 14, Order of the Eastern Star.
She is survived by her daughter, Regina Catherine Stephens of Rawlings; her son, Phillip William Hays and daughter-in-law, Patricia Lynn Hays of Westernport; three grandchildren, Brian D. Hays, Heather L. Hays and Stephen T. Hays; three great-grandchildren, Rachel E. Derham, Sarah E. Hays and Gillian M. Hays.
The family will receive friends at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Friday, March 26, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday, March 27, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Matthew Riegel officiating.
Interment will be in Philos Cemetery, Westernport.
The Bethlehem Chapter No. 14, Order of the Eastern Star, will hold a memorial service at the funeral home on Friday evening at 7:15 p.m.
NANCY L. LASHBAUGH
CUMBERLAND - Nancy Louise Lashbaugh, 60, of 1501 Holland St., Cumberland, went to be with her Lord, Friday, Sept. 10, 1999 at Memorial Hospital.
Born March 27, 1939, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Herman and Elizabeth Almeda (Ruppert) Curry. She also was preceded in death by a sister, Dortha Ruckman, in 1990, and a brother, Carlton Curry, in 1994.
A loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, she was the precious Nancy who meant more to her loving husband, Roy, than you could possibly measure. He knows the Lord has her now, and she will be out of pain. He prays that he will look after and protect her until he gets there.
Mrs. Lashbaugh was a homemaker for most of her life. Previously, she was employed by the Berkburnett, Texas, School District as a substitute teacher, and by the Potomac Edison Company, Cumberland, in the billing department. She was a lifetime member of Kingsley United Methodist Church, and was involved in the women's society there.
Mrs. Lashbaugh was an honors graduate of Fort Hill High School Class of 1957. She graduated at the top of her class, and received awards for being the top English student and the girl with the top scholastic average. She continued her education by taking courses at Allegany Community College.
Surviving are her husband, Joseph Roy Lashbaugh, Jr., Cumberland; two daughters, Ms. Brenda L. Bridges; Cumberland; Mrs. Sherri L. McBride and husband Matt, LaVale; one son, Mr. Brent R. Lashbaugh, Cumberland; one sister, Mrs. Maxine Cook and husband Clifton, Cumberland; three grandchildren, Patricia L. Bridges, Cumberland; Matthew and Amanda McBride, LaVale; an aunt; an uncle; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Monday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral Home on Tuesday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. John Park officiating. Soloist will be Mr. Earl Clark, brother-in-law. He will perform "How Great Thou Art" and "Amazing Grace".
Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Kingsley United Methodist Church or the Arthritis Foundation.
Pallbearers will be Daniel Clark, James Clark, Gary Cook, Stephen Cornachia, Jr., David Curry, nephews; and Fred Darber, friend of the family.
MILTON E. HEAVNER
ROCK HILL, S.C. - Milton E. "Butch" Heavner, 58, of 242 Ghent Court, Rock Hill, died Tuesday, Dec. 28, 1999, at the Bowman-Gray Medical Center, North Carolina Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem, N.C.
Born March 9, 1941, in Cumberland, Md., he was the son of Oleta V. Furman and the late Eston B. Heavner.
Mr. Heavner was retired from Hoechst-Celanese. He was a member of St. Anne's Parish, the Rock Hill Moose Lodge No. 1720, the Winthrop University Eagles Club, and the Rock Hill Bowling Association.
Surviving are his wife of 39 years, Wendelle "Wendy" Morrissey Heavner; one son, Todd Eston Heavner, Gaithersburg, Md.; two daughters, Lori Ann Heavner Greene and Krista Lynn Heavner Hupp, both of Rock Hill; his mother, Oleta V. Furman, Olney, Md.; three sisters, Virginia Brown, Wilmington, N.C., Patricia Bassler, Richmond, Va., and Helen George, Cumberland, Md.; and six granddaughters (who were the love of his life), Erin Hupp, Elizabeth Hupp, Caitlyn Greene, Kiersten Greene, Sarah Heavner and Samantha Heavner.
The Vigil will be held at the Cauthen Funeral Home, Rock Hill Chapel, on Thursday, Dec. 30, 1999, at 6:30 p.m. to which everyone is welcome. The family will receive friends following the Vigil from 7 to 9 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at St. Anne Catholic Church on Friday, Dec. 31, 1999, at 11 a.m. with Father William Pentis officiating.
Final commendation and farewell will be at the Forest Hill Cemetery.

DAVID J. LICHTY
CUMBERLAND - David J. Lichty, 84, Cumberland, died Sunday, July 25, 1999, in Memorial Hospital.
Born on May 7, 1915, in Salisbury, Pa., he was the son of the late Jonas Simon and Lela Myrtle (Schramm) Lichty. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Edith Deihl Darnley Lichty; his twin brother, James J. Lichty; a brother, Edward Lichty; and a sister, Ruth Boyer.
Mr. Lichty was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Cumberland, a World War II veteran serving in the U.S. Army 101st Infantry I Company, 26th Division, Past Post Commander and member of the DAV Fort Washington Chapter No. II. He had attended Penn State Dairy School, was retired from the Allegany County Board of Education as a custodian at Washington Junior High School, and was a member of the South Cumberland Business and Civic Association.
Surviving are three sisters and one brother, Mrs. Mary Jo Shultz, Miss Sarah Jane Lichty, Mrs. Patricia Louise Werner, and Paul J. Lichty, all of Salisbury, Pa.; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received in the Hafer Chapel of the Hills Mortuary, 1302 Hational Hwy., LaVale, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday at 11 a.m. in St. John's Lutheran Church, Cumberland. Pastor Mark C. Dill will officiate. The body will be taken to the church at 10 a.m.
Interment will follow in Maryland State Veterans cemetery at Rocky Gap. Military rites will be accorded at the cemetery by the Combined Veterans Honor Guard.
DAV Fort Washington Chapter No. II will conduct services in the funeral home on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
