HENRY EARL HENSEL
CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. - Henry Earl Hensel, 79, formerly of Cumberland, Md., passed away Monday, Sept. 8, 1999, in Cocoa Beach, at Cape Canaveral Hospital.
Born in Cumberland, he retired as a receiving clerk for Kelly-Springfield Tire Co. and moved to Cocoa Beach in 1982.
Mr. Hensel was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army Air Corps and a 32nd degree mason of East Gate Masonic Lodge 216 in Cumberland, having been a member since 1964.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Yvonne Hensel, Cocoa Beach, Fla.; and a brother, Raymond J. Hensel, Corriganville, Md.
Services will be held in Cocoa Beach on Monday Sept. 13 at 10:30 a.m. at the Beckman-Williamson Funeral Home, 101 N. Brevard Ave., Cocoa Beach.
Masonic graveside services will be held at Sunset Memorial Park, Cumberland, at a later date.
Donations may be made to a favorite charity in his memory.
MERLE E. KENNELL
FROSTBURG - Merle E. Kennell, 78, of Frostburg, died Thursday, May 13, 1999, at Sacred Heart Hospital. He had been a resident of St. Vincent de Paul Nursing Center.
Born Aug. 25, 1920, in Kennells Mills, he was the son of the late Hobart and Erma (Lepley) Kennell.
Mr. Kennell had been a tractor trailer driver and a custodian for the board of education at Beall High School.
He was a member of the Welsh Memorial Baptist Church, Loyal Order of Moose #348 and Fraternal Order of Eagles #1273.
Surviving are his wife, Anna (Skidmore) Douty Kennell; one son, Edward Kennell and wife Nan, Felton, Pa.; three daughters, Elsie Collins, Mineola, Texas, Lois Walker and husband David, Meyersdale, Pa., and Karen Moore and husband Charles Jr., Clearville, Pa.; one stepson, Royce Douty and friend Wanda, Frostburg; and one stepdaughter, Sandra Kaye Powell and husband Gary, Cumberland; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; one step-granddaughter; four brothers, Homer Kennell, Hyndman, Pa., Junior Kennell, Cumberland, Wayne Kennell, Meyersdale, Pa., and Jerry Kennell, Meyersdale, Pa.; and one sister, Helen Kennell, Meyersdale, Pa.
Friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral Home, P.A., 60 W. Main St., Frostburg, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. L.O.O.M. #348 will hold a memorial service at 8 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. William G. Boyer officiating.
Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Charles Moore Jr., David Walker, Charles Spiker Jr., Lee Close, Kenny O'Rourke and John O'Rourke.
EARL C. KIGHT
MOUNTAIN LAKE PARK - Earl C. Kight, 59, of Deer Park Ave., Mountain Lake Park, died Monday, Sept. 6, 1999, at his home.
Born Oct. 5, 1939, in Cumberland, he was the son of Mary V. (Jordan) Kight, of Oakland, and the late Clinton G. "Gil" Kight.
Mr. Kight was a retired letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service, Washington, D.C., and worked as a correctional officer for the Garrett County Sheriff's Department. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and a member of Oakland Lodge 2481, BPO Elks.
Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife, N. Ann (Stump) Kight; two stepdaughters, Kimberly A. Kisner, Terra Alta, W.Va., and Melissa D. Alexander, Crellin; two stepsons, John W. Strawser, Manassas, Va., and Shawn M. Strawser, Terra Alta; one sister, Cassandra A. Stewart, Oakland; and two nephews, Jay E. Stewart, Oakland, and Michael L. Stewart, Gaithersburg.
Friends will be received at the Stewart Funeral Home, Oakland, on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m., and on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, Sept. 9, 1999, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Father Chip Lee officiating.
Interment will be in the Oakland Cemetery.
Oakland Lodge 2481 BPO Elks will conduct a memorial service at the funeral home Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
Military honors will be accorded at the cemetery by members of the various veterans organizations in southern Garrett County.

WAYNE L. KIGHT
TEMPERANCE, Mich. - Wayne L. Kight, 70, of Temperance, died April 19, 1999, at his home.
Born Jan. 13, 1929, near Oakland, Md., he was a son of the late Theodore and Medelia (Park) Kight.
He was retired from General Motors, where he worked for 30 years as a plant supervisor.
He was awarded two Bronze Stars and a United Nations Service Medal for his military service in the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Lynn C. Weeman Post #514, American Legion, Ida, and Samria Lodge #438, Free and Accepted Masons.
Survivors include his wife, Betty (Johnson) Kight; one son, Kenneth Kight, Lambertville, Mich.; a daughter, Mary Wertenberger, Tecumseh, Mich.; two brothers, Thomas Kight, Oakland, and Vernon Kight, Charlotte, N.C.; two sisters, Dolores Harsh, Brunswick, Ohio, and Lois Wilt, Hinckley, Ohio; and five grandchildren.
MARGARET M. HENSEL
CUMBERLAND - Margaret Mae Hensel, 76, of 13905 Winchester Road, S.W., Cumberland, died Saturday, July 3, 1999, at her home.
Born July 24, 1922, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Clyde Kenney and the late Amanda (Weigand) Kenney.
Mrs. Hensel was a retired employee of the Chessie System as a stenographer, and later retired as a secretary for the Allegany County Board of Education. She was a member of the Fort Ashby VFW Auxiliary, a past member of the Women's Sportsmen's Club, and a member of the LaVale Baptist Church.
Surviving are her husband, Walter R. Hensel, Cumberland; a son, Steven Hensel, Rockville; two daughters, Barbara J. Stitcher and husband, Thomas, Salisbury, Md., and Nancy S. Lehr and husband, Rich, Virginia Beach, Va.; a brother, Clyde E. Kenney, Wellersburg, Pa.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted on Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., with the Rev. Charles A. Erzkus, pastor of Christ Lutheran Church, LaVale, officiating.
Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
ROBERT H. HERBOLDSHEIMER
CUMBERLAND - Robert Henry "Spike" Herboldsheimer, 83, of 638 Fairview Ave., Cumberland, died Wednesday, Dec. 15, 1999, at Memorial Hospital.
Born March 9, 1916, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Harry Herboldsheimer and the late Mamie "Habig" Herboldsheimer. He also was preceded in death by his sister, Ruth Teague.
Mr. Herboldsheimer was a retired tin smith who was self-employed, and a former teacher at Mount Savage High School. He taught the apprentice program for the Local #100 Sheet Metal Workers Union of America. He was a 1934 graduate of LaSalle Institute and a 1957 graduate of Frostburg State Teacher's College. He was the founder of the North End Playground Association. He spent years officiating basketball, softball and baseball games. He was a very proud member of the American Civil Liberties Union, the National Organization for Women, and the Metropolitan Opera Foundation.
Surviving are his wife, Helen A. (Smith) Herboldsheimer; three daughters, Ann H. Dansie and husband William, Bethesda, Lea H. McCagh and husband Dr. Mike, Cumberland, and Joy H. Fiore and husband Joe, Key West, Fla.; one brother, Richard "Dick" Herboldshimer and wife Betty, Fresno, Calif.; one sister, Lois VanEvery and husband Captain Edwin, Naples, Fla.; eight grandchildren, Marta and Lucas Dansie, Chris McCagh-Herring and husband Dan, Casey McCagh-Coulehan and husband Kevin, Marcy McCagh, Michael Sean McCagh, Stacie Fiore-Cain and husband Barry, and Dax Fiore; four great-grandchildren, Madison Marie and John Dalton Cain, and Maclain Patrick and Colleen Erin Coulehan.
Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Friday from 7 to 9 p.m.
