ELYSE G. HARMON
CUMBERLAND - Elyse Garrison (Eiler) Harmon, 62, of Cumberland, died Friday, March 19, 1999, at Memorial Hospital.
Born June 11, 1936, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Frederic William and Mary Martha (Workmeister) Eiler.
Mrs. Harmon was a graduate of the Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. She had been employed as a registered nurse at Spring Grove State Hospital and the Baltimore County Chapter of the American Red Cross Blood Mobile.
She was a member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church and the Republican Central Committee.
For many years, Mrs. Harmon was a participant in the blood donor program.
Survivors include her daughter, Berkeley Harmon-Robey and husband Robert Lee Robey, Cumberland; two grandchildren, Clarissa Morgan Robey and Jordan Tyler Harmon; one sister, Kathryn (Eiler) Gaither and husband Herbert Gaither, Camp Hill, Pa.; two nephews, Frederic and Matthew Gaither; as well as other loving family and friends.
Friends will be received at Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 16 Washington St., Cumberland, on Tuesday from 1 to 3 p.m.
The funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Edward C. Chapman officiating.
Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.

BETTY L. HARPER
FROSTBURG - Betty Lou (Spataro) Harper, 32, of Frostburg, died Wednesday, Sept. 1, 1999, at Ocean City, Md.
Born Sept. 16, 1966, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of William and Mary Spataro of Frostburg.
Mrs. Harper was employed at WCI in Cresaptown as a correctional officer and recently was promoted to lieutenant. She was a member of the Eckhart Methodist Church. She was on the hostage negotiator team and an investigator at the prison. She was a graduate of Beall High School and received an associate's degree from Allegany College. She received training from the prison system in Hagerstown and Cresaptown.
Surviving are her husband Boyd, two sons, Joshua and Jarrod, and one stepson, Jayson Harper, whom she loved dearly; two brothers, Billy Joe Spataro and wife Kari, Bel Air, and Brian Spataro, Morantown; one sister, Cindy Walker and husband Munjo Walker, Frostburg; a number of nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly; a number of close friends and special aunts and uncles; maternal grandmother, Betty Myers, Frostburg; paternal grandfather, Albert Spataro, Morantown; father-in-law, Lucius C. Harper and wife Joyce, Frostburg; seven brothers-in-law; and one sister-in-law. She was loved and admired by all who knew her.
Friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral Home, P.A., 60 W. Main St., Frostburg, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. George M. Harpold officiating.
Interment will be in Frostburg Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Billy Joe Spataro, John Myers, Ed Schewe, Jarold Bittner, Gary Kline, Joe Williams, Wayne Harper and Argyle Lancaster.
MARY H. HARPER
CRESAPTOWN - Mary Helen Harper, 83, of 14201 Barton Blvd., SW, Cresaptown, died Sunday, Nov. 28, 1999, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland, of complications from Alzheimer's disease.
Born Jan. 27, 1916, at Commerce, Ga., she was the daughter of the late William "Bill" Edgar and Myrtie May (Higginbotham) Bailey. She also was preceded in death by her brother, Ralph W. Bailey; and sister, Frances B. McCree.
Mrs. Harper was married
for 61 years and, until becoming incapacitated with Alzheimer's, was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker. She was an avid gardener, a community volunteer, and an active member in the United Methodist Church for years. Most recently, she was a member of Cresaptown United Methodist Church.
Surviving are her husband, Dr. Rex S. Harper Sr.; one daughter, Sharon Elizabeth Sokol, Mobile, Ala.; two sons, Rex S. Harper Jr., Marietta, Ga., and Max Christopher Harper, Savannah, Ga.; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Hafer Chapel of the Hills Mortuary, 1302 National Highway, LaVale, on Tuesday from 3 to 5 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted in Georgia at the Baker Funeral Home, 7415 Hodgson Memorial Drive, Savannah, on Saturday at 10 a.m. Visitation in Savannah will be Friday from 6 to 8 p.m.
Interment will be in the Bonaventure Cemetery, Savannah.

DELORES W. HARRIS
FROSTBURG - Delores (Witt) Harris, 80, of Lions Manor Nursing Home, Cumberland, formerly of Hope Road, Frostburg, passed from this Earth to join our Heavenly Father on Monday, Feb. 22, 1999, at Lions Manor Nursing Home.
Born May 9, 1918, in Zihlman, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Cora (Winebrenner) Witt. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur T. Harris; one son, William Bittinger; and one sister, Anna Mary Witt.
Delores was a homemaker, a loving mother and grandmother, and caregiver to those whom she took into her heart and home.
Remaining to treasure her memory are a son, Donald "Jug" Bittinger and wife, Carolyn, Frostburg; and three whom Delores reared as sons, Donald "Homer" Petenbrink and wife, Gloria, Frostburg, Raymond Petenbrink, Texas, and James "Jeep" Harris and wife, Myrtle, Silver Spring; one brother, Arthur Shoemake and wife, Carolyn, Cresaptown; one sister, Molly (Shoemake) Paul, Cumberland. She was affectionately known as Nana by her two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, and by Mr. and Mrs. Charles Kerr, close friends of the family.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Thursday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. T. William Preston officiating.

HELEN J. KIRK
CUMBERLAND - Helen Joan Kirk, 64, of Cumberland, died Thursday, June 3, 1999, at her residence.
Born April 23, 1935, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Helen (Berkenbaugh) Ferrell. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Maurice J. Kirk; one brother, John G. Farrell; and one sister, Rosalie Speir.
Mrs. Kirk was a homemaker and a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church.
Surviving are one son, Michael M. Kirk, Crofton; one daughter, Beverly A. Davis and husband Donald, Cumberland; one brother, Donald Farrell, Cumberland; one sister, Dorothy Bartlett, Cumberland; and three grandchildren, Jessica Kirk, Ryan Davis and Jennifer Davis.
Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, P.A., 202 Greene St., Cumberland, on Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Vernon Busch officiating.
Interment will be in the Maryland State Veterans cemetery at Rocky Gap.
CLARK F. LUMAN
CUMBERLAND - Clark F. Luman, 81, of Old Towne Manor, died Thursday, Dec. 16, 1999, at the Cumberland Nursing Center.
Born Jan. 9, 1918, in Hyndman, Pa., he was the son of the late Jasper and Viola (Wolford) Luman. He also was preceded in death by four sisters, Ethel Hager, Mary Alexander, Nell Mae Swartz, Anna Louise Luman; and two brothers, Earl and Harold Luman.
Mr. Luman was an engineer for the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad and retired from the CSX Transportation Company in 1979. He was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge 271 and the Railroad Retired Employees Association. He attended St. Mary's Catholic Church.
Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Susan "Sue" (Sanner) Luman; one son, Michael Clark Luman and wife, Phyllis, Orange Park, Fla.; two daughters, Carolyn S. McClelland and husband, John, Lewes, Del., Louise Smyth, Ridgeley, W.Va., and fiancee, Mike Heine, York, Pa.; two sisters, Frances Clapper and husband, Roger, Buffalo Mills, Pa., Patricia Teal, San Pedra, Calif.; six grandchildren, Chris McClelland and wife, Kathy, Timonium, Susan McClelland Parson and husband, Dave, Bear, Del., Matthew Luman, Travis Luman, both of Orange Park, Fla., Garet Smyth, Heather Smyth, both of Ridgeley; two great-grandchildren, Allison and Michael McClelland; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and good friends.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Sunday from 3 to 6 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home, on Monday at 12 p.m. with the Rev. Milton A. Hipsley, officiating.
Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
