R. FLORENCE HARRIS
OAKLAND - R. Florence Harris, age 93, of Oakland, formerly of College Park, died on Monday, July 5, at Dennett Road Manor Nursing Home, Oakland.
She was born Aug. 4, 1905, in Thornwood, W.Va., and was a daughter of the late Michael E. Long and Amanda (Wilt) Long. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin H. Harris, in 1951; and by four grandchildren.
She was a retired Licensed Practical Nurse, having worked at hospitals in Crownsville, Pa., and Camarillo, Calif. She was Baptist by faith.
Surviving are four sons, George T. Perrine, Loch Lynn, Edwin E. Perrine, Fountain Valley, Calif., Benjamin S. Harris, Annapolis, and Larry W. Harris, Camarillo; four daughters, Maxine J. Reddy, Baja, Mexico, Shirley A. Smaby, Camarillo, Ellen Gae Ward, Thomas, W.Va., and Rosalie Smith, College Park; 24 grandchildren; and 39 great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Durst Funeral Home, Oakland, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Donald Wilson officiating.
Interment will be in Garrett County Memorial Gardens.
JOHN T. KAZLO
WESTERNPORT - John T. Kazlo, of 517 Maryland Ave., Westernport, passed away from this life on Wednesday, Oct. 13, 1999, at Southside Regional Hospital, Petersburg, Va., after a long illness.
Born Nov. 24, 1915, in Westernport, he was the son of the late John P. and Alexsina (Waitekunas) Kazlo. He was preceded in death by one brother, Orville, and one sister, Amelia Hartman.
Mr. Kazlo was a 1933 graduate of Bruce High School, where he excelled in athletics, particularly soccer. He went to attend classes at Catherman's Business School, Cumberland. He was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, Westernport, as well as a life member of Kelly-Mansfield Post 52 American Legion, Piedmont, W.Va., the Queens Point V.F.W. Post 6775, and the Piedmont Council 685 Knights of Columbus.
He was a honorably discharged veteran of the United States Navy, serving as a Petty Officer 1st class with the Atlantic Fleet in World War II. He was a member of the Ships Company of the U.S.S. Vixen, Admiral King's flagship during the war.
The Westvaco Corporation employed Mr. Kazlo as a purchasing agent at their Luke Mill. Later, he was employed by the U.S. Postal Service where he retired in 1982.
Mr. Kazlo leaves behind his beloved wife, Pearl Kazlo; one son, John T. Kazlo, Jr.; daughter-in-law, Patricia Kazlo, of Chester, Va.; two grandchildren, Blair Ross Kazlo, and Brynne Walker Kazlo, of Chester, Va.; a brother, Joseph Kazlo, of Clemmons, N.C.; and a sister, Helen House, of Keyser.
The family will receive friends at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, Friday, Oct. 15, from 7 to 9 p.m. The Knights of Columbus will conduct a Christian Wake Service at the funeral home, Friday at 7:30 p.m.
Mass of a Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Peters Catholic Church, Westernport, Saturday, Oct. 16, at 10 a.m. with Father James Hannon, as celebrant.
Interment will take place in St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery, Westernport, where full military honors will be accorded at graveside.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Peter's Catholic Church.
GLADYS M. KILMER
CUMBERLAND - Gladys M. (Newman) Kilmer, 82, of Willow Court, Cumberland, died Wednesday, Dec. 8, 1999, at Memorial Hospital.
Born on March 26, 1917, in Sunbury, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Edward P. and Bertha (Campbell) Newman. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Marshall White; two sons, George Edward White, and Marshall Lee White; and one brother, Stanley Newman.
Mrs. Kilmer was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, Schenectady, New York.
Surviving are her husband, Delmar N. Kilmer; one stepdaughter, Constance Lain, Penns Grove, Calif.; one stepson, Donald D. Kilmer and wife, Cathy, Troy, N.Y.; one daughter-in-law, Charlotte White, Wiley Ford, W.Va.; two (twin) brothers, Robert Newman and wife, Dorothy, William E. Newman and wife, JoAnne, all of Cumberland; three grandsons, Andrew White, Aaron White, Adam White; and two step-grandchildren, Brook Lain, and Chris Kilmer.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., on Friday from 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Benny R. Brakeall and the Rev. Paul Dietz, officiating.
Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Cumberland.
The family requests that contributions be made to the Wiley Ford Church of the Brethren.
Pallbearers will her three grandsons, Andrew, Aaron, and Adam White, and two nephews, Brian, Jeff, and William Newman.
JAMES A. HARRIS
CUMBERLAND - James Arthur Harris, 63, of 722 Golden Lane, Cumberland, died Monday, Dec. 27, 1999, at his residence. He had been in ill health for the past 10 years.
Born July 30, 1936, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Bernard A. Harris and Blanche (Rowe) Harris.
Mr. Harris was the operator of the Harris Esso Service Station on the corner of Centre and Mechanic Streets in Cumberland. He also was a self-employed auto mechanic. He was a member of the SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, and a graduate of LaSalle High School in 1954.
Surviving are his wife of 41 years, Catherine E. Harris, Cumberland; two sons, James A. Harris II and wife Michelle, Cumberland, and Bernard T. Harris, Jessup; one daughter, Deborah E. O'Brien and husband John, Laurel; two brothers, George Harris and wife Delores, Middletown, and Charles Harris and wife Donna, Cumberland; and two grandchildren.
A private family mass and burial was held at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church with Father Vance Pastorious officiating.
Interment was in SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery.
Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, was in charge of arrangements.

BLANCHE G. KLAVUHN
LONACONING - Blanche Genevieve (Beeman) Broadwater Klavuhn, 83, of 17101 Lower Georges Creek Road, S.W., Lonaconing, died Sept. 28, 1999, at her residence.
Born June 22, 1916, in Pine Swamp, Barton, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Beeman and Mary Ann (Clark) Beeman. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Harry T. Broadwater, 1947, and her second husband, George Klavuhn, 1997.
Mrs. Klavuhn was a member of the First Assembly of God, Lonaconing.
Surviving are four sons, Wilbert Broadwater and wife Eloise, Lonaconing, Clarence Broadwater and wife Sue, Lonaconing, Leo Broadwater and wife Michele, BelAir, and H. Eugene Broadwater and wife Peggy, Lonaconing; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one sister, Mary Schriver, Moscow, Barton; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the Eichhorn-McKenzie Funeral Homes, P.A., Lonaconing, Wednesday, Sept. 29, 1999, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the First Assembly of God, Lonaconing, on Thursday, Sept. 30, 1999, at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Donald Webb, officiating. The body will be taken to the church one hour prior to services.
Interment will follow in Philos Cemetery, Westernport.
Pallbearers will be Jim Posey, Ed Jones, Leslie Broadwater, Keith Broadwater, Steven Broadwater, Tom Broadwater. Honorary pallbearer will be Shawn Jones.
GEORGE R. JOHNSON
OAKLAND - George Rodney Johnson, age 74, of Dennett Road Manor Nursing Home, passed away Friday, March 26, 1999, in the nursing home.
Born April 7, 1924, in Matterim, Pa., he was a son of the late Alex and Aileen (Moore) Johnson.
Mr. Johnson was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
Friends will be received at the David A. Burdock Funeral Home, Kitzmiller, on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m.
Graveside services will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. at the Restlawn Memorial Gardens, LaVale, with the Rev. Donald Nelson officiating.
