JESSIE N. HOBAN
GIRARD, Ohio - Jessie Nicole Hoban, 88, of 431 Lawrence Ave., Girard, formerly of Midlothian, Md., died Sunday, June 27, 1999, at Northside Hospital.
She was born Aug. 21, 1910, in Midlothian, a daughter of the late George Filer and Minnie (Bennett) Filer.
On Sept. 28, 1930, she married
Wilbert Hoban, who preceded her in death on Feb. 23, 1980. Also preceding her in death were a daughter, Joann Grischow, in 1983; a sister, Ruth Gordon; and a brother, William Filer.
Mrs. Hoban was a member of First Assembly of God, Liberty Township. She was a member of the Bell Choir and Women's Christian Association, both of the church. She also was a member of the Girard Senior Citizens and a former member of their Hobby Club.
She is survived by these children, Wilma Jean Seggie, Myrtle Beach, S.C., Mary E. "Cotton" Fatkin, Cheyenne, Wyo., Sandra Lee Skerratt, Girard, and Lewis "Butch" Cutter, Girard, whom she helped raise; a sister, Fannie M. Bond, Frostburg, Md.; a brother, Benjamin Filer, Carlos, Md.; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Blackstone Funeral Home, 672 Churchill Road, Girard, Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted in the First Assembly of God, Liberty Township, Thursday at 1 p.m. There will be visitation at the church Thursday from noon to 1 p.m.
Interment will be in Greenhaven Cemetery.
ARDATH C. LUPIS
WESTERNPORT - Ardath Catherine Lupis, 80, of 240 Greene St., Westernport, died Monday, Sept. 27, 1999, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland.
Born Feb. 23, 1919, in Westernport, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Nellie (Durst) Stephens. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Denzel and Richard Stephens.
Mrs. Lupis was a loving mother and homemaker. She was a member of the Westernport United Methodist Church.
Surviving are her husband, Nick L. Lupis; a daughter, Catherine Lester and husband Dickie, of St. George's, Delaware; two sons, Steven V. Lupis and wife Sandie, of Westernport, Joseph P. Lupis, Redding, Calif.; two brothers, Donald Stephens, of Westernport, and Paul Stevens, of Cumberland; five grandchildren, Julie (Foote) Hill, Nickie Foote, Mitchell Lupis, Rachel Lupis, and Adam Lupis; three great-grandchildren, William Lupis, Jason Hill, and Jeffrey Hill.
The family will receive friends at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home chapel on Thursday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. John Footen, officiating.
Interment will be in the Philos Cemetery, Westernport.

EVELYN E. LONG
BALTIMORE - Evelyn E. (Monahan) Long, Baltimore, died July 3, 1999, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland.
Mrs. Long was the beloved wife of the late Labertus Long, devoted mother of Vernita Beaulieu, Doris Auld and James Monahan. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Services were held at the George J. Gonce Funeral Home, P.A., 4001 Ritchie Highway, on Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. Interment was in Glen Haven Memorial Park.
EDNA F. JUDY
CRESAPTOWN - Edna F. Judy, 90, of Cresaptown, died Sunday, Aug. 8, 1999, at her home.
Born Feb. 4, 1909, in Cresaptown, she was the daughter of the late Wrussell and Mary (Grabenstein) Winter. She was also preceded in death by her husband, William H. Judy; one son, Earl Lafferty; and one daughter, Roberta Lafferty.
Mrs. Judy was a homemaker. She was a member of Cresaptown Assembly of God Church.
Surviving are two sons, Glen R. Lafferty and wife Audrey, Hampstead, and Donald E. Lafferty and wife Shirley, Hope Mills, N.C.; three brothers, Rev. Harold Winter and wife Mary, Monaca, Pa., Arthur Winter and wife Viola, Lewis Winter and wife Patricia, all of Cresaptown; two sisters, Kathleen Chaney and husband Otis, and Delores Shipe, all of Cresaptown; nine grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., Cresaptown, Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home Wednesday at noon with the Rev. Harold Winter and Rev. Harold R. McClay, Jr. officiating.
Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens, LaVale.
ELEANOR C. HODGSON
SEBASTOPOL, Calif. - Eleanor Campbell Hodgson, 84, passed away on Monday, Aug. 2, 1999, of cancer, at home in the company of her family. She was a longtime resident of San Francisco, but was born and raised in Lonaconing, Md.
She graduated from Hood College in Maryland with a bachelor's degree in English. For many years, she served as a docent at the Palace of the Legion of Honor and the de Young Museum in San Francisco. Her aesthetic sense showed in the beauty of her surroundings, whether at her home or her ranch in the mountains near Cazadero in Sonoma County. She will be especially remembered for her lovable wit, humor, and style, as well as her hospitality, generosity, and devotion to family and friends.
Her husband, physician Henry Marvin Hodgson, died eight years ago. She is survived by her sister, Jeannette Campbell Johnson; numerous nieces and nephews; and by her four children, Mary Hodgson Rose, Jean Allison Hodgson, Susan Hodgson Fisher, and James Marvin Matison. She had five grandchildren and one great-grandson.
A memorial service will be held on Sept. 12 for immediate family. Donations in recognition may be made to the de Young Museum or the Palace of the Legion of Honor in San Francisco.
Our dear Eleanor will not be soon forgotten.
WILLIE C. HOLBROOK
CLARKSVILE - Willie C. Holbrook of Clarksville, formerly a long-time resident of the Kensington in Cumberland, and formerly of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Akron, Ohio, died May 12, 1999.
Born Oct. 16, 1895, in Hickory, Ky., he was the son of the late Winfield Scott Holbrook and Cicero Dyer Holbrook of Hickory, Ky.
He also was preceded in death by his wife and the beloved mother of his sons, Pansy Marie (Allbritton) Holbrook; a son, Wallace Scott Holbrook; his wife of many years, Lela Miller Holbrook; five brothers; and four sisters.
Mr. Holbrook retired as a truck tire builder for the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. in Akron, Ohio, in 1960 after 45 years of service. He was a veteran of the Sixth Regiment of the United States Marine Corps in World War I. He was wounded during the war and received the Croix de Guerre from the French government for bravery during his service in the Marines. He was a member of the Loyalty Lodge F. & A.M. of Akron, and a former member of Goodyear Heights Methodist Church of Akron.
Surviving are two sons, William C. Holbrook Jr. and his wife Sophie of Tucson, Ariz., and Robert R. Holbrook and his wife Rita of Clarksville; nine grandchildren, Dr. Karen Holbrook of Frostburg, Dr. Billie Holbrook Shafer, Tucson, Debbi McCullough, Tucson, Lisa Lofthouse, Fayetteville, N.C., Sara Holbrook, Bay Village, Ohio, Faun Meyer, Fort Collins, Colo., Scott Holbrook and Stewart Holbrook, Clarksville, Kristin Bedford, Hilton Head, S.C.; and nine great-grandchildren.
Mr. Holbrook will be sadly missed by his family and many friends.
A memorial service will be conducted at the Rose Hill cemetery in Akron in the near future.
Any memorial may be sent to the Alzheimer's Association.
LULA T. HOLLIDAY
OKEECHOBEE, Fla. - Lula "Gertrude" Twigg Holliday, 73, of Okeechobee, died Wednesday, Oct. 27, 1999, at her residence.
Born Jan. 9, 1926, in Cumberland, she was preceded in death by her husband, John W. Holliday, Sr.; and a son, John W. Holliday, Jr.
Mrs. Holliday had been a resident of Okeechobee since 1976, having formerly resided in Elkins, W.Va. She worked for the Okeechobee County School Board from 1977 to 1992 as a teacher/bus aide in the Special Education Department.
Survivors include four sons, Roger E. Holliday, of Elkins, W.Va., David W. Holliday and his wife, Joan, of Raleigh, N.C.. Bobby G. "Doc" Holliday and his wife, Beanie and Steele L. Holliday and his wife, Rosemary, all of Okeechobee; and two daughters, Tinda Thomas and her husband, Sam, of Okeechobee, and Linda "Tuck" Wilson and her husband, Paul, of Culman, AL; daughters-in-law, Eileen Holliday, of Elkins, and Rosemary Holliday, of Bridgeport, W.Va.; 18 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister, Ethel Monnett, of Cumberland; two brothers, Earl F. Twigg and his wife, Janet, of Clairmont, Fla., and Carl F. Twigg, of Goochland, Va.
The family will receive friends at the Buxton Funeral Home, on Saturday, Oct. 30, 1999, from 5 to 7 p.m.
Service will follow at 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
