ANNA L. (PATE) HOLMES
CORRIGANVILLE - Anna Laura (Pate) Holmes, 76, of Old Hollow Road, Corriganville, died Sunday, Aug. 22, 1999 at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland.
Born July 23, 1923 in Alum Creek, W.Va., she was one of eight children of the late Johnson and Laura Anna (Priestley) Pate. Her husband, Marshall Holmes; a daughter, Frances Kay Kendall; four brothers and two sisters also preceded her in death.
Mrs. Holmes is survived by four sons, James Howard Holbrook and wife Judy, Cresaptown, Frank Holbrook, Corriganville, David Henry Diehl and wife Karen, Corriganville, and Curtis Ray Diehl and wife Dee, Hyndman, Pa.; two daughters, Etta Marie Helmstetter, Corriganville, and Dora Stranathan and husband Mike, Ebensburg, Pa.; a sister, Thelma Rhodes, Corriganville; 18 grandchildren, Tommy and Bobby Robertson, Robin Stair, Jill Stitcher, Bobby Kendall, Carol Rose, Robbie and Jamie Holbrook, Jimmy and Missy Matrey, Jerimie, Brittany and Travis Diehl, Levi and Mazy Diehl, and Nicole, Ronald and Brandon Stranathan; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Holmes, a homemaker, was a member of Calvary Bible Church, Ellerslie.
Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Hyndman, Pa., on Monday, Aug. 23 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be conducted at the funeral home Tuesday, Aug. 24 at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Ken L. Korns officiating. Interment will be in Palo Alto Hilltop Cemetery.
Friends of the family will serve as pallbearers for Mrs. Holmes.
MARGARET M. HOLSING
CUMBERLAND - Margaret McKinley Holsing, 86, of Cresap Street, Cumberland, died Thursday, Feb. 11, 1999, in the Allegany County Nursing Home.
Born on Jan. 22, 1913, in Lonaconing, she was the daughter of the late James Orr and Sara (Corfield) Marshall. She was preceded in death by her husband, Allan T. Holsing, on March 2, 1990; and two sisters, Helen Moore Mitchell and Virginia Harman.
Mrs. Holsing was Protestant by faith. She was a member of the Morning Star Temple #1, Pythian Sisters, Lonaconing Central High School Alumni Association, and the A.A.R.P.
She was a former employee of G.C. Murphy Company, Frostburg, Maryland Employees Retirement System, Baltimore, Medical College of Virginia, Richmond, Va., U.S. Army, Arlington, Va., Post Exchange, Fort Myer, Va.
She is survived by four nieces, Virginia Delawder and husband, Roy, Edye Harman, Margaret Bernaquer and husband, Jack, Susan Curvel and husband, Tom, and Sarah Mitchell; a nephew, Douglas W. Harman and wife, Constance; three grand-nephews; and three grand-nieces.
Mrs. Holsing requested no visitation to be held. A private graveside service will be conducted on Saturday, February 13, 1999, at noon at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Interment will follow in the Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Hafer Chapel of the Hills, 1302 National Highway, LaVale, is in charge of the arrangements.
CHARLES B. HOLTZMAN
CUMBERLAND - Charles Beverly "Bung" Holtzman, 87, of 413 Arch St., Cumberland, died Tuesday, Dec. 21, 1999, at Memorial Hospital.
Born January 22, 1912, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Edgar C. Holtzman and Carrie E. (Wilson) Holtzman.
Mr. Holtzman was a retired employee of the Kelly Springfield Tire Co. He was former member of St. John's Lutheran Church. He was a member of the Cumberland Elks B.P.O.E. Lodge 63, and he was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, World War II.
Surviving are a wife, Martha J. (Licot) Holtzman, Cumberland; two daughters, Shirley Baldwin and husband, James, Cumberland, Marcia Bartlett and husband, William, Cumberland; three brothers, Leonard E. Holtzman, Donald E. Holtzman, and Paul W. Holtzman, all of Cumberland; one sister, Dorothy Fleek, Ft. Ashby, W.Va.; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Wednesday from 12 to 1:30 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Mark Dill, officiating.
Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
JONATHAN R. JENKINS
FROSBURG - Jonathan R. "Big Daddy" Jenkins, 73, of Frostburg, died Wednesday, June 30, 1999, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born June 17, 1926, in Frostburg, he was the son of the late William E. and Bessie (Sleeman) Jenkins. He also was preceded in death by his daughter, Laura Lesley; a son, Charles Scott; and four brothers, William, Kenneth, Philip and James.
Jonathan attended Beall High School and was a graduate of St. Christopher's Prep School, Richmond. He attended Dartmouth College, where a routine test given to all incoming freshmen proved he was the strongest freshman to enter Dartmouth in 15 years. He still holds that record. He played on the Dartmouth football team and in 1948 was selected for the All-New England team by the Boston Post, the All-Eastern team by the Chicago Tribune, and the All-American team by the Boston Adviser; and he was captain of the North team during the Blue-Gray game of 1949. That year he joined the Baltimore Colts as both an offensive and defensive tackle.
He was associated with his father and brothers in the coal business and was a member of the board of directors of the Jenkins Development Co. of Frostburg. His many business ventures included founding the Au-Petit-Paris Restaurant, Frostburg, and he was a real estate broker.
He was a member of the Frostburg United Methodist Church, the Maplehurst and Cumberland country clubs, the Provost Guard Unit of the Ali Ghan Shrine Temple, Frostburg Mountain Lodge 99 of AF & AM, the Loyal Order of Moose, and the Frostburg Elks Lodge 470.
He is survived by his wife, Joan (Hare) Jenkins; one stepdaughter, Bettye Elizabeth Blake; two stepsons, Jimmy and Bobby Poland; six grandchildren; and three sisters, Gladys Wheeldon, Richmond, Isabel Bell, Baltimore, and Wilton Young, Cumberland.
Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, PA, 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be private at the funeral home with the Rev. Lloyd McCanna officiating.
Interment will be in the Frostburg Memorial Park.

FLOYD E. LOGSDON
ELLERSLIE - Floyd Ellsworth Logsdon, 84, of 10014 Bottom St., Ellerslie, died Monday, Sept. 20, 1999, at Frostburg Village Nursing Home.
Born May 7, 1915, in Neffsville, Pa., he was the son of the late Oscar Logsdon and Mary (Shroyer) Logsdon.
Mr. Logsdon was retired from Kelly-Springfield Tire Co. He was a member of the Ellerslie Volunteer Fire Department for 54 years. He served in the United States Army in World War II.
Surviving are a wife of 59 years, Josephine S. (Edwards) Lodsdon, Ellerslie; a son, Frank W. Clinedinst and wife Shirley, Cumberland; a daughter, Linda Ann Shaffer and husband Charles, Ellerslie; four sisters, Goldie Wilkins, Altoona, Pa., Minnie Troutman, Hyndman, Pa., Jean Emerick, Manns Choice, Pa., and Arvella Lowery, Cumberland; seven grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

HELEN B. HOOPENGARDNER
OCALA, Fla. - Helen B. Hoopengardner, 80, of Ocala, formerly of Hagerstown, Md., died on Tuesday, March 16, 1999, in Florida.
Born July 31, 1918, in Swanton, Md., she was the daughter of the late Edgar and Mabel McRobie Barnard of Bloomington, Md.
Helen was educated at Bruce High School in Westernport, Md., receiving a BS degree from Frostburg State College. She did graduate work at the University of Wyoming and the University of Denver. She taught elementary school in Garrett, Washington and Caroline counties in Maryland, retiring after 20 years.
She was a member of the Washington Square United Methodist Church, Hagerstown, and an associate member of Ocala West United Methodist Church, Ocala.
She is survived by her husband, Wilbur Scott Hoopengardner; three sons, Gary and wife, Valerie, Summerfield, Fla., Roger and wife, Bonnie, Vienna, Va., and David and wife, Joan, Centreville, Va.; two sisters, Naomi Warnick, Keyser, W.Va., and Juanita Tichnell, Fort Ashby, W.Va.; one brother, Alfred Barnard, Bradenton; three granddaughters, Susan, Sara and Anna Lyn; and four grandsons, Andrew, David, Brian and Stephen.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Washington Square United Methodist Church, 538 Washington Ave., Hagerstown. The Rev. Harold P. Atkins will officiate.
Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown.
Friends may call on the family at the Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m.
