JANE E. JONES
ARKRON, Ohio - Jane E. Jones, 82, of Akron, formerly of Frostburg, died Sept. 28, in Arkron.
Born Oct. 28, 1916, in Frostburg, she was the daughter of the late Allen C. Jenkins and the late Mary Elizabeth Jenkins.
She is survived by two daughters, Joyce Anne Kenney, of Clinton, Okla., and Carole Jean Weiss and husband, Gary, of Brecksville, Ohio; two sisters, Betty Morton and husband, Fred, and Eleanor Kenney and husband, Paul, both of Frostburg.
Interment was in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Akron, Ohio.
LESTER R. HOUSE
CUMBERLAND - Lester R. House, 78, of Cumberland, died Tuesday, Oct. 5, 1999, at the Martinsburg Veterans Center.
Born Nov. 19, 1920, in Magnolia, W.Va., he was the son of Alice (Hare) House, Cumberland, and the late Edgar J.R. House. He also was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda P. House in 1997; one sister, Margaret Roller; and two brothers, James House and Wally House.
Mr. House was retired from the Celanese Corporation and Frank's Dairy, Cumberland. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. He was a member of Saint Mary's Catholic Church.
Surviving are one son, Robert Scott House and wife Brenda, Short Gap, W.Va.; one daughter, Tammy Boyle and husband Terrance Jr., Hanover, Pa.; two brothers, Willard House and wife Mary, Cumberland, and Thomas House and wife Edith, Fredericksburg, Va.; and three grandchildren, Joshua and Brandon House, and Tara Boyle.
Mr. House was cremated at his request.
A memorial service will be conducted at a later date.

LUCILLE J. LYONS
CUMBERLAND - Lucille J. Painter Lyons, 87, of Miller Ave., Cumberland, died Monday, May 17, 1999, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born April 29, 1912, in Wildell, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late James M. and Pearl N. (Young) Painter. She was preceded in death by two sons, Michael Lyons and Thomas Lyons; and one grandson, Robert Hawkins. She was also preceded in death by two sisters; and three brothers.
Mrs. Lyons was a homemaker and worked for many years at Montgomery Ward in Cumberland. She enjoyed spending time with her family, and bowling. She was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Surviving are her husband of 67 years, John F. Lyons; one daughter, Mary Susan Shanks and husband, Jerry, New Market; three grandchildren, Deborah Stevens, Libertytown, Richard and Kevin Hawkins, both of Frederick; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She will be remembered by three special friends Brother Charles Scanlon FSC, King of Prussia, Pa., JoAnn Spencer, and Dr. Judy Stone, both of Cumberland.
Friends will be received at the Kight Funeral Home, 309-311 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be held at the funeral home on Thursday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Lee A. McDaniel officiating.
Interment will be in Frostburg Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will Richard and Kevin Hawkins, grandsons, Chip Stevens, grandson-in-law, Michael Stevens, great-grandson, Richard Twigg and David Milstead, special friends.
The family has requested that donations take the form of contributions to the Sacred Heart Hospice Unit.

CUMBERLAND - A memorial service for Lester R. House will be conducted at the Grace United Methodist Church, Virginia Ave., Cumberland, Sunday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Dr. W. Todd Turner, officiating.
Graveside military honors will be accorded by the Combined Veterans Honor Guard at the Maryland State Veterans cemetery at Rocky Gap on Tuesday at 11 a.m.

CLAUDE W. JONES
CORRIGANVILLE - Claude W. Jones, 69, of Corriganville, died Sunday, Jan. 3, 1999, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born Jan. 28, 1929, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Thomas B. and Anna Mae (Miller) Jones. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Carl, Thomas, Clarence "Buddy" and Arthur Jones; two sisters, Mildred Green and Virginia Mae Orndoff.
Mr. Jones was retired from P.P.G. Industries. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, and attended LaSalle High School.
Surviving are his wife, Jeanne L. (Clay) Jones; three daughters, Candace S. Geatz and husband, Thomas, Cumberland, Claudia J. Herdon and husband, Allen, Union Bridge, Jody J. College and husband, Michael, Woodbine; one son, Clay W. Jones, Cumberland; one sister, Anna Lee Landenberger and husband, John, Cumberland; one brother, Richard D. "Jim" Jones and wife, Betty Lou, Cresaptown; five grandchildren, Thomas A. Geatz III, Durango, Colo., Angela M. Geatz, Melissa J. Geatz, both of Cumberland, Katherine E. College and Lauren M. College, both of Woodbine; and beloved pet, Heidi.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., on Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. with Fr. William Moody officiating.
Interment will be in Rocky Gap Veterans Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded by the Combined Veterans Honor Guard.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation, Professional Arts Building, Hagerstown, MD.
Mr. Jones was a Maryland Eye Bank Donor.
Pallbearers will be Thomas A. Geatz II, Dick Orndoff, Philip Jones, Craig Jones, Thomas A. Geatz III and Michael College. Honorary pallbearer will be Mark Jones.
GEORGE LAWRENCE LAYMAN
FROSTBURG - George Lawrence Layman, 75, of 202 Braddock Heights, Frostburg, died May 23, 1999, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland.
Born Feb. 14, 1924, in Shaft, he was the son of the late George H. and Catherine (Long) Layman. He also was preceded in death by two brothers, Raymond L. Layman and Paul L. Layman; and a sister, Virginia Layman Dawson.
Mr. Layman was a retired Road Foreman for the Maryland State Highway Administration. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II having served in the South Pacific.
He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council #1442, Loyal Order of Moose #348, Old Rail Post V.F.W. #6025, Mount Savage, and Farrady Post #24 American Legion where he was a 50-year member, served on the Honor Guard, and twice served as Post Commander.
Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Mary Margaret (Bryson) Layman; two sons, Larry Layman and wife, Jackie, Baltimore, and Mike Layman and wife, Michelle, Frostburg; four grandchildren, Jim Layman and Lisa Layman, Baltimore, Lucas Layman and Rose Layman, Frostburg; three sisters, Rosalie Drew, Frostburg, Marjorie Densmore, Florida, and Mildred Minnick, Delaware; a brother, Charles Layman, Baltimore; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, P.A., 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Frostburg, on Wednesday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Fr. Paul Byrnes as Celebrant.
Interment will be in the St. Michael's Parish Cemetery, Frostburg.
Members of the American Legion Honor Guard will serve as pallbearers.
