KEVIN R. JOY
LITTLE ORLEANS - Kevin Ritchie Joy, 36, of Little Orleans, died Friday, July 9, 1999, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland.
Born Nov. 9, 1962, in Cumberland, he was the son of Leona Louise (McDonald) Joy, Little Orleans, and the late Melvin P. Joy.
Mr. Joy was a Deputy Sheriff for the Allegany County Sheriff's Department. He was a member of the Potomac Lodge #100 A.F. and A.M., the Scottish Rite Bodies, and he was a Protestant by faith. Last year Mr. Joy was recognized by the Allegany County Commissioners and the Woodmen of the World service organization for outstanding performance of duty.
Surviving, in addition to his mother, are his wife, Marjorie Elaine Joy; one son, Phillip Aaron Joy, at home; one sister, Debra Louise Snyder, Little Orleans; and one brother, Gerald Melvin Joy, Bel Air.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The Potomac Lodge #100 A.F. and A.M. will conduct a service Monday at 7:30 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday at 10 a.m. with Pastor Mark C. Dill officiating.
Interment will be in Piney Plains Cemetery, Little Orleans.
Pallbearers will be members of the Allegany County Sheriff's Department.
GERALDINE M. HUGHES
BOWLING GREEN - Geraldine "Tiny" Merici Hughes, 70, of Bowling Green, Cumberland, died Tuesday, Oct. 26, 1999, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born Feb. 3, 1929, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Henry L. and Bessie E. (Wallace) McGee. She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Peter, Wally, and George McGee.
Mrs. Hughes was a homemaker. She was a 1948 graduate of Fort Hill High School and attended St. Mary's Catholic Church.
Surviving are one daughter, Kimberly L. Hughes, Cumberland; one sister, Catherine Olilla and husband, William, Sparks, NV; and several nieces.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home, on Friday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Milton A. Hipsley, officiating.
Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
BEULAH HUMBERTSON
CUMBERLAND - Beulah Humbertson, 79, of the Allegany County Nursing Home, formerly of Williams Road, Flintstone, died Saturday, July 10, 1999 at the nursing home.
Born April 1, 1920, in Flintstone, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Gustavia (Ketterman) Bennett. She also was preceded in death by her husband, John Humbertson, in 1986.
Mrs. Humbertson was a homemaker and a lifetime member of Murley's Branch United Methodist Church.
Surviving are two sons, Kermit Humbertson Sr. and wife, Lillian, Flintstone, Harold D. Humbertson and wife, Georgie, Oldtown; one daughter, Ruth "Sally" Youngblood and husband, Charles, Oldtown; two brothers, George Bennett and wife, Violet, Randolph Bennett and wife, Linda, all of Flintstone; one sister, Minnie Piper, Oldtown; a half-sister, Grethel Bennett, Flintstone; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Fred Iser officiating.
Interment will be in Glendale Cemetery.
EDDIE C. HUMBERTSON
CUMBERLAND - Eddie Cecil Humbertson, 52, of Baltimore Pike, Cumberland, died Tuesday, July 27, 1999, at Memorial Hospital.
Born Oct. 19, 1946, in Cumberland, he was the son of Thomas C. and Edith A. (Humbertson) Humbertson, both of Oldtown. He was preceded in death by one sister, Lois Crowe.
Mr. Humbertson was a baker for D'Atri's Bakery, LaVale. He was an active coach and referee for many area youth leagues.
In addition to his parents, surviving are his wife, Linda L. Humbertson; one daughter, Debra Brown and husband, Jeffery, Bethesda, Ohio; two sons, Richard Allen Humbertson and wife, Janice, San Angelo, Texas, and Mark Humbertson and wife, Angela, Allentown, Pa.; one sister, Kay Aumiller, Cumberland; two brothers, Larry W. Humbertson and wife, Sheila, and Steve Humbertson and wife, Debbie, all of Oldtown; five grandchildren, Jeffery Brown II, Bethanie Brown, Allison Brown, Jacklyn Brown and Benjamin Humbertson.
Friends will be received at Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 10 to 11 a.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home Friday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Richard Ketterman officiating.
FRED F. HUMBERSON
FRIENDSVILLE - Fred Franklin Humberson, 94, formerly of 1637 Old Morgantown Road, West, Friendsville, died Monday, March 29, 1999, at Goodwill Mennonite Home, Grantsville.
Born Sept. 27, 1904, in Friendsville, he was a son of the late Franklin and Annie (Guard) Humberson and was the last surviving member of a family of 13 children. He also was preceded in death by a son, Vernon, on April 14, 1995.
He was a member of Rush Baptist Church and was a retired farmer and timberman.
Survivors include two sons, Bruce Humberson, Friendsville, and Ronald Humberson, Meyersdale, Pa.; six grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., Friendsville, Md., on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at Rush Baptist Church on Thursday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Steven Rose officiating.
Interment will be in Humberson Cemetery.
Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the services.
Expressions of sympathy may be directed to Rush Baptist Church.
TEMPERANCE E. IMES
OLDTOWN - Temperance Elizabeth Imes, 88, formerly of P.O. Box 73, Main Street, Oldtown, and residing at the Allegany County Nursing Home, went to be with the Lord on Friday, June 25, 1999, at the Allegany County Nursing Home.
Born March 8, 1911, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late James William Pettit and the late Temperance (Jordan) Pettit. She was also preceded in death by her husband, the late Walter Imes, in 1992.
Mrs. Imes was a member of First United Methodist Church.
Surviving are a son, Walter James Imes, Cumberland; three daughters, Julia Stevens, Cumberland, Kathleen Hose and husband, Ned, Oldtown, and Dorothy Blanco, Cumberland; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted on Monday at 10 a.m. at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., with the Rev. Kay Barmoy officiating.
Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be W. James Imes, Michael Davis, Rodney Milburn, Jose Blanco, Michael Hose and Derek Hose.
