THEODORE H. HALL
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - Theodore H. Hall, 73, formerly of Rosedale, Md., passed away Tuesday, Sept. 7, 1999, at Caseman Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque.
Born Oct. 10, 1925, in Baltimore. He the son of Elizabeth Hall, Rosedale, and the late Albert Hall, Sr. He also is preceded in death by his first wife, Beverly Ann Hall.
Mr. Hall was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was a retired employee of the Bell Atlantic Telephone Company with 40 years of service.
Surviving are his wife, Betty (Smith) Hall, San Jong, N.M., a daughter, Susan Basler, Albuquerque, N.M.; two sons, Theodore Hall, Cockeysville, Md., and Eric O. Hall, Ridgeley, W.Va.; a brother, Albert Hall, Jr., Brunswick, Ga.; a sister, Gloria Bennett, Baltimore; and seven grandchildren whom he loved very much.
A memorial service will be conducted at a later date.
VERNA B. JONES
GRANTSVILLE - Verna Barbara Jones, 92, of 351 Shade Hollow Road, Grantsville, died Monday, March 15, 1999, at Meyersdale Medical Center, Meyersdale, Pa.
Born Nov. 27, 1906, at Grantsville, she was the daughter of the late Wilson E. and Lydia (Wisseman) Miller. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert H. Jones, on Oct. 2, 1971; one son, Robert Jones; four brothers; one sister; and two grandsons.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Springs Mennonite Church, Springs, Pa.
She is survived by her two daughters, Marilyn "Mollie" Crowe and husband, Delford, Grantsville, Janice Miller and husband, Vernon, Winter Haven, Fla.; one brother, Ivan E. Miller, Grantsville; three sisters, Melba Farrell, Randallstown, Wilma Younkin and Virginia Mahaffey, both of Confluence, Pa.; 10 grandsons; seven great-grandsons; six great-granddaughters; two nephews; and two nieces.
Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., Grantsville, on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the Springs Mennonite Church on Thursday, March 18, 1999, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Steven Heatwole officiating. The body will be taken to the church one hour prior to the service.
Interment will be in the Grantsville Cemetery.
Mrs. Jones' grandsons and great-grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Contributions may be directed in her memory to the Springs Mennonite Church.
JOHN EARL "OAK" KERR
FROSTBURG - John Earl "Oak" Kerr, age 67, of 10405 Borden Road, N.W., died Wednesday, Feb. 10, 1999, at his residence.
Born Oct. 21, 1931, in Frostburg, he was the son of the late Charles F. and Martha (Phillips) Kerr. He was also preceded in death by one sister, Doris Ann Wright.
Mr. Kerr was a retired orderly from the Cumberland Nursing Home. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, and was a member of the Zion United Church of Christ, Frostburg.
Surviving are one brother, Charles "Chill" Kerr and wife, Dorothy, Cumberland; one sister, Elner Powers and husband, James, Boise, Idaho; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, P.A., 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Diane Smith officiating. Military honors will be accorded at the funeral home by Farrady Post #24 American Legion Honor Guard.
In accordance with his wishes, Mr. Kerr will be cremated.
Inurnment will be held in the Frostburg Memorial Park at a later date.
JOHN E. LEAKE
LONACONING - John Earl Leake, 76, of 15614 Old Coney cemetery Road, S.W., Lonaconing, died March 9, 1999, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland.
Born in Gilmore on Feb. 24, 1923, he was a son of the late John Sidney Leake and Maud Margretta (Winters) Leake.
Mr. Leake was a former employee of Potomac Motors and was retired from Lonaconing Motors as an auto technician. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Surviving are his wife, Mabel I. (Brown) Leake, whom he married
on May 5, 1951; and a special niece, Bridgette Kady, Keyser, W.Va. Also surviving are four sisters, Grace Powers, Egle Nursing Home, Lonaconing, Ruth Wattenschaidt, Midland, Maud Wilson, Midland, and Marie Lauder and husband, Dave, Glen Burnie.
At Mr. Leake's request his body will be cremated and there will be no viewing or service.
Inurnment will be at Sunset Memorial Park, Cumberland.
Arrangements are being handled by Eichhorn-McKenzie Funeral Home, P.A., Lonaconing.
JOSEPHINE C. LEASURE
CUMBERLAND - Josephine Clara Leasure, 83, of Cumberland, died Saturday, April 10, 1999, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland.
Born Dec. 2, 1915, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late William L. and Clara (Martz) Schute. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Vincent P. Leasure Sr.; and one son, Vincent P. Leasure Jr.
Mrs. Leasure was former owner and president of Leasure-Stein Funeral Home and a former employee of Rosenbaum's Department Store. She was a 1933 graduate of Ursuline Academy. She was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, LaSalle Mothers Club, Christian Mothers, and the Sacred Heart Hospital Auxiliary where she was the Volunteer Chairwoman of the gift shop for 27 years. She received the medal of honor from the Archdiocese of Baltimore and The Josephine Leasure Scholarship was established in 1994 by the Sacred Heart Hospital Auxiliary Board in honor of her many years of dedicated service.
Surviving are one daughter-in-law, Mary F. ``Mame'' Cunningham Shipley, Murrells Inlet, S.C.; two grandchildren, Michele Lynn Musgrove and husband Brian, Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Mark S. Shipley, Fairfax, Va.; two great-grandchildren, Alexander P. Musgrove and Andrew S. Musgrove; and a special nephew, John G. Kylus and wife Louise, Bowie.
There will be no visitation.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church on Tuesday at 10 a.m. with Father Vance Pastorius, O.F.M., Cap., as celebrant.
Interment will be in the SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery.
The family requests that contributions be made to SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church or the Sacred Heart Hospital Auxiliary.
The Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, is in charge of arrangements.
DONNA M. LEE
CRESAPTOWN - Donna Murl Lee, 72, of Cresaptown, died Tuesday, Sept. 21, 1999, at her residence.
Born February 17, 1927, in Thomas, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Pearlie and Eva (White) Carr. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Harley Lee, on January 10, 1974, and a special friend, Howard Longerbeam.
Mrs. Lee was retired from H.R.D.C. She attended First Wesleyan Church, Cresaptown.
Surviving are one daughter, Glenda A. Boor, Cresaptown; one son, Steve G. Lee and wife Christine, Grand Island, NE; one sister, Twila Fridley, Hendricks, W.Va.; three grandchildren, Wes L. Boor and wife Rebecca, Towson, Eric S. Lee and wife Becky, Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and Mike H. Lee and special friend, Sommer, State College, Pa.; and five great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., Cresaptown, Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home, Friday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Keith Riffle officiating.
Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park, Cumberland.
The family requests contributions be made to First Wesleyan Church, Cresaptown.
Pallbearers will be Eric Lee, Mike Lee, Bob Robison, Shannon Robison, Tim Murphy, and Danny Fridley.
