RENA MAE PNESKI
FROSTBURG - Rena Mae Pneski, 73, of South Water Street, Frostburg, died Saturday, Feb. 20, 1999, in Jefferson Memorial Hospital, Ranson, W.Va.
She was born June 23, 1925, in Frostburg, the daughter of the late William David and Lottie Mae (Williams) Jones. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Pneski.
Mrs. Pneski was a member of Welsh Memorial Baptist Church and was retired as a surgical nurse from Frostburg Community Hospital.
Surviving are two daughters, Robin Akin, Martinsburg, W.Va., and Renee Lynn Weber, Annapolis; a sister, Audrey Nazelrod, LaVale; a brother, William D. Jones, Byron, Minn.; and a grandson, Chad Raymond Esrig.
Friends will be received in the Hafer Frost Mansion Funeral Home, 58 Frost Ave., Frostburg, on Tuesday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. William G. Boyer officiating.
Interment will follow in Frostburg Memorial Park.

HELEN R. MICHAEL
CUMBERLAND - Helen Ruth Michael, 98, of Cumberland Nursing Center, formerly of First Street, died Thursday, Dec. 30, 1999, at the nursing center.
Born Dec. 10, 1901, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late George Henry and Lousanna (Liller) Michael.
Ms. Michael was retired from the Celanese Corporation. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church.
Surviving are cousin, Louis K. Reynolds, Cumberland; good friend, Laura Shoemaker, Cumberland; and several other cousins.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, Monday from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home, Monday at 11 a.m.
Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Cumberland.
HARRIET F. MCKENZIE (CAROLAN)
CUMBERLAND - Harriet F. McKenzie, 84, of Trost Avenue, Cumberland, died Saturday, July 31, 1999, at her residence.
Born on Oct. 1, 1914, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Philip T. Carolan Sr. and Gertrude P. (Speelman) Carolan. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard A. McKenzie Sr., who died on Dec. 15, 1964; and one daughter, June Ann McKenzie, who died July 18, 1959. Two brothers, Philip T. Carolan Jr., Howard T. "Bud" Carolan; one sister, Patricia Griener; and a son-in-law, Ronald H. Whetsell Sr., also preceded her in death. Mrs. McKenzie was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
She was employed as a case worker for the Department of Social Services on Paca Street, where she retired in 1982. Prior to that she was employed at the library at Frostburg State College. She was a lifelong member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Cumberland.
She is survived by one son, Leonard A. McKenzie Jr., and wife, Janet, LaVale; two daughters, Dorothy L. Whetsell, Cumberland, Mary Jo Davalli, and husband, Paul, Baltimore; seven grandchildren, Ron H. Whetsell Jr. and Allen C. Whetsell, both of Cumberland, Jacob A. Davalli and Joshua M. Davalli, both of Baltimore, Linda L. Jenkins, Cumberland, Kathryn F. Brackett, Waldorf, Jennifer L. McKenzie, LaVale; five great-grandchildren, Scott Whetsell, Shannon Isner, Zachary, Nicole and Dillen Jenkins; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Kight Funeral Home, 309-311 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, 9 a.m., at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Cumberland. The Rev. Thomas Bevan will be the celebrant.
Interent will be in the parish cemetery.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Ron H. Whetsell Jr., Allen C. Whetsell, Jacob A. Davalli, Joshua M. Davalli, Joshua Brackett and Steven Wilhelm. Honorary pallbearers will be great-grandsons, Scott Whetsell, Shannon Isner and Zachary Jenkins.
The Christian Wake and rosary service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday at 8:30 p.m.
The family has requested that memorials take the form of contributions to St. Patrick's Catholic Church.
MARGARET L. MAUST
FROSTBURG - Margaret Lucille Maust, 84, of 1 Kaylor Circle, Frostburg Village Nursing Center, Frostburg, died Monday, Nov. 8, 1999, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland.
Born Aug. 22, 1915, in Meyersdale, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Robert and Cora (Maust) Faidley. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Galen N. Maust.
Mrs. Maust was a homemaker and a member of Saint John's United Church of Christ, Salisbury, Pa., and a former member of the Somerset County Women.
Surviving are one son, Barry Maust, Grantsville; one daughter, Linda Snyder, Cumberland; one sister, Mildred Urbin, Garrett, Pa.; three grandchildren, Chelsey Lee Maust, Charles W. Palmer and Bryan L. Palmer; and three great-grandchildren, Ryan Palmer, Brenden Palmer and Logan Palmer.
Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., Grantsville, Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted there Wednesday, Nov. 10 at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Raymond Brown officiating.
Interment will be in the Salisbury Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Harrison Yommer, Charles Yommer, Eric Yommer, Robert Vought, Kevin Vought and Brian Snyder.

JAMES E. MINNICK
FROSTBURG - James Edward Minnick, 88, of 12507 Carlos Road, Frostburg, died Friday, June 4, 1999, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland.
Born Sept. 18, 1910, in Frostburg, he was the son of the late Edward R. and Annie (Blucher) Minnick. He also was preceded in death by his wife, Agnes E. (Pfaff) Minnick, on Dec. 5, 1997; and a daughter, Judith. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Mr. Minnick was a former coal miner and retired as a licensed boiler operator from Frostburg State University's Maintenance Department.
Surviving are a daughter, Beverly Lowery, Carlos; a son, David Minnick and wife Carol, LaVale; two grandchildren, Lora Winebrenner and Matthew Combs; and two great-granddaughters, Ciara and Cenoa.
Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, P.A., 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral and committal services will be conducted at the Durst Funeral Home on Monday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. George Aist officiating.
MARY H. MARPLE
CUMBERLAND - Mary Henrietta Marple, 92, formally of 410 Pulaski Street, Cumberland, died Friday, Feb. 26, 1999, at the Lions Manor Nursing Home on her birthday.
Born Feb. 26, 1907, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late William Barnard and the late Emma (Gabler) Barnard. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Albert L. Marple, in 1986.
Mrs. Marple was a retired teacher of the Allegany County school system and most of her years were at Gephart School. She was a life member of First United Methodist Church and a charter member of the Gleaner Bible Class. She was a member of McKinley Chapter 12, Order of the Eastern Star and a volunteer worker at both Memorial and Sacred Heart hospitals. She was a life member of the Gephart PTA and the Retired Teachers Association.
Surviving are seven nieces and two nephews.
Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Lee Brotemarkle officiating.
Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery.
Donations may be directed to the Ali Ghan Shrine Children's Transportation Fund.
Pallbearers will be Larry Crabtree, Robert Barnard Sr., Robert Barnard Jr., Robert Kuhlman, Paul Kuhlman and Edward Kuhlman.
McKinley Chapter 12 OES will have a memorial service, Sunday at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
