CATHARINE J. MILLER
GRANTSVILLE - Catharine J. Miller, 92, of 223 Peavine Rd., Grantsville, died Wednesday, Nov. 10, 1999, at the Goodwill Mennonite Home.
Born April 23, 1907, in Garrett County, she was the daughter of the late Jonas and Barbara (Swartzentruber) Miller. She is the last surviving member of her family being preceded in death by four brothers, Evan J. Miller, Floyd J. Miller, Ivan J. Miller, Harvey J. Miller; and six sisters, Alma, wife of Allen Maust, Verna, wife of Harvey Maust, Annie, wife of Lee Scheffel, Mabel, wife of Irvine Miller, Edna, wife of Alvin L. Maust, Rhoda, wife of Elmer L. Maust. She is survived by many nieces and nephews, great, and great-great nieces and nephews.
Ms. Miller was a member of Oak Dale Mennonite Church where she was very active in church groups and activities and severed as a missionary in Luxembourg for the Conservative Mennonite Conservative Mennonite Conference. She worked as both a missionary and a bookbinder.
Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., Grantsville, Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted a the Maple Glen Mennonite Church on Sunday, Nov. 14, 1999, at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Joseph Byler, officiating.
Interment will be in Maple Glen Cemetery.

WILLIAM R. PETERSON
MCHENRY - William Richard Peterson, 70, of 2105 Mosser Road, McHenry, died Friday, July 30, 1999, at Monongalia General Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va.
Born May 14, 1929, in Oakhill, Pa., he was a son of the late Joseph Peterson and Ida (Nuckols) Peterson Campbell. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Andrew.
Mr. Peterson was retired president of Teamsters Local No. 453, Cumberland, and was a retired member of the Health & Welfare Fund and Joint Council No. 40. He was also a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and Deep Creek Lions Club.
Survivors inclue his wife, Kathleen V. (Bevan) Peterson; three daughters, Sharon L. Glotfelty, Grantsville, Sheri Y. Paugh, Oakland, and Kathleen V. Seaman, McHenry; a brother, Charles H. Peterson, Clifton Forge, Va.; and five grandchildren, Amy and Lori Glotfelty, Ryan and Jordan Seaman, and Michael Paugh; and great-uncle, Ralph Rugh, McHenry.
Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., McHenry, on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 8:30 p.m.
Services will be conducted in the funeral home on Monday at 8:30 p.m. with the Rev. Samuel Wachter officiating. Cremation will follow.
Expressions of sympathy may be directed to the American Heart Association.
Honorary pallbearers will be Clark Glotfelty, Dave Paugh, Glenn Seaman, Eugene Cervi, Mark Diehl and Todd Doerr.
REV. NELLIE KIGHT PHILLIPS
BROOKEVILLE - The Rev. Nellie (Yokum) Kight Phillips, age 81, of Brookeville, and formerly of Moorefield, W.Va., died Wednesday, July 21, 1999, at Montgomery General Hospital, Olney.
Born Feb. 13, 1918, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late John W. and Lettie R. (Judy) Yokum. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Donald A. Kight, May 29, 1944; and her second husband, the Rev. Anderson W. Phillips, April 29, 1999. One grandson, Roy Kight, also preceded her in death.
She was ordained with the Assemblies of God in 1953. She pastored the Moorefield Assembly of God Church in Moorefield from 1953-1966.
She is survived by one son, Ronald E. Kight; five grandchildren, Ronald Kight Jr., Michael Kight, Lisa Kight, Melissa Kight and Nathan Kight; five great-grandchildren; one daughter and three sons of the late Rev. Anderson Phillips and their children; one sister, Rachel Leasure, Boonsboro; four brothers, Lemuel P. Yokum, John S. Yokum and Richard D. Yokum, all of Clearville, Pa., Denver C. Yokum, Bedford, Pa.
Friends will be received at the Schaeffer Funeral Home, Petersburg, Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the Moorefield Assembly of God Church, Sunday at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Alton Lee and the Rev. D. Wendel Cover officiating.
Interment will be in Newhouse Cemetery, Rig, W.Va.
DAVID D. MILLER
CRESAPTOWN - David Dayton Miller, 74, of Cresaptown, died Thursday, Jan. 7, 1999, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born July 9, 1924, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late David Lot and Emily (Dayton) Miller.
Mr. Miller was a 1943 graduate of Fort Hill High School, where he played tackle for the football team.
He was a veteran of World War II, where he worked as an Intelligence Specialist and Cryptographic Code Compiler.
Mr. Miller retired in 1985 from the Kelly-Springfield Tire Company, where he had been a machinist. He then became a real estate agent, having worked for BGS&G; and then, Long & Foster, until 1997.
He was a member of Cresaptown United Methodist Church, Fort Cumberland Lodge #211, A.F. & A.M., 32nd degree, Cumberland Scottish Rite Bodies, and Ali Ghan Shrine, where he belonged to the Ritualistic Unit and served as Temple Recorder for 17 years. He currently held the title of Recorder Emeritus at Ali Ghan. In addition, Mr. Miller was Imperial Past President of Recorders, Past President LaVale Lions Club, member of Lodge #63 B.P.O.E., and Fort Cumberland Post #13, American Legion.
Survivors include his wife, Florence G. Miller; two step-daughters, Gayle Marie Shaw, Frederick, and Margaret Ann Onest, Portland, Ore.; one sister, Virginia Lee Hersh, Rawlings Heights; and one granddaughter, Kelly Lynn Shaw.
Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, P.A., 202 Greene St., Cumberland, on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
The LaVale Lions Club will conduct a memorial service at the funeral home on Sunday at 7:15 p.m. Officers and members of Fort Cumberland Lodge #211, A.F. & A.M. will follow with a memorial service at 7:30 p.m.
The funeral service will be held on Monday, Jan. 11, 1999, at 1 p.m. in the funeral home, with the Rev. Harold McClay Jr. officiating.
Interment will be in the Maryland State Veterans cemetery at Rocky Gap, where military honors will be accorded by the local Combined Veterans Honor Guard.
Serving as pallbearers will be George Hersh, John Burkey, George Schoenadel, Randy Schry, Jim Glover and Jerome Robinette.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be William Beynon, Bruce Long, Donald Mason, Archie Cook and Robert Horn, members of the Ali Ghan Ritualistic Unit and the LaVale Lions Club.

JACK D. PARKER
BILOXI, Miss. - Jack Delton Parker, 60, of Biloxi, formerly of Cumberland, died suddenly Friday, Oct. 15, 1999, at his residence.
Born April 22, 1939, in Cumberland, he was the son of Harry Delton Parker and Opal Pearl (Phillips) Parker. He also was preceded in death by two brothers, Jerry G. and Larry A. Parker.
Mr. Parker graduated from Clear Spring High School in 1957 and immediately started his career in the United States Air Force. After 22 years, he retired as Senior Master Sergeant in the Biloxi area. Mr. Parker was an avid gardener, a gourmet cook, and spent many great days fishing on the river with his sons.
Surviving are his loving wife, Dolly (Robey) Parker; five wonderful sons, Johnny, Gary, Mark, David and Jeffery; two sisters, Ellen D. Brown and Sandra K. Sentz; three brothers, Eddie B., Danny C., and Charlie B. Parker; 15 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Mr. Parker's body was cremated at his request.
A memorial service will be conducted at the Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, Biloxi, on Tuesday, Oct. 19, 1999, at 10:30 a.m.
DENNIS W. MILLER
CUMBERLAND - Dennis Wayne "Denny" Miller, 45, of Cumberland, died Sunday, Dec. 12, 1999, at his residence.
Born Dec. 29, 1953, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Louis Woodrow and Hilda Christina (Rice) Miller. He also was preceded in death by one sister, Rosemary Miller; and two brothers, Steven and Michael Miller.
Mr. Miller was a clerk for the U.S. Postal Service. He was a member of the Goodfellowship Club, Maplehurst Country Club, Cumberland Eagles Aerie #245, Republican Club, Red Men Club and the Frostburg Elks #470.
Surviving are three brothers, B. Charles Miller and David Miller, both of Cumberland, and Billy Ransley, Bowling Green; one sister, Brenda Riley, Cumberland; three nieces, Michelle, Samantha and Jacklyn Riley; special friends, Barb and Jeremy Bridges; and numerous good friends.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. with the Rev. John Footen officiating.
Interment will be in the Greenmount Cemetery, Cumberland.
Pallbearers will be Denny Pollard, George Beal, Junior O'Neal, Todd Foote, Steve Kaylor and Doug Kaylor. Honorary pallbearers will be Ike Isner, Ron Isner, Gene Rowe, Jim Dermer, Jim Sevinsky, Paul Lanham and Steve Rice.
