JOYCE A. MILLS
MCCOOLE - Joyce A. Mills, 52, of 24914 Crooks Ave., S.W., McCoole, died Sunday, Jan. 10, 1999, at the Winchester Medical Center, Winchester, Va.
Born July 4, 1946, at Ridgeville, W.Va., she was a daughter of Margaret H. (Dawson) Metcalf, Keyser, W.Va., and the late Walter Metcalf.
Mrs. Mills was formerly employed at the News-Quik Stations in both Cresaptown and McCoole.
Mrs. Mills was a 1964 graduate of Fort Ashby High School, Fort Ashby, W.Va. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Keyser, and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary to Nancy Hanks Post #3518, V.F.W., Keyser.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Douglas I. Mills; one son, David M. Mills, at home; four daughters, Lora J. Elkins and husband, Norman Elkins Jr., Burlington, W.Va., Susan D. Parish and husband, William A. Parish Jr., Keyser, Jeannine M. Mills and fiancee, Paul Anderson, and Brittany M.K. Mills, both at home; two brothers, Jacob Metcalf and wife, Paulette, Morgantown, W.Va., Jeffrey Metcalf and wife, Lois, Burlington; five sisters, Sara Leatherman and husband, Philip, Antioch, W.Va., Nelva Abshear and husband, Paul, Nicholasville, Ky., Linda Roleff and husband, Frank, New Creek, W.Va., her twin sister Judith Myers and husband, Bruce, Fort Ashby, and Sharon Price, Keyser; three grandchildren, Courtney, Kayla and Kelly.
Friends may call at the Rotruck-Smith Funeral Home, Keyser, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted in the Rotruck-Smith Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Andrew Agnew officiating.
Interment will be in the Thrush Cemetery, Antioch, W.Va.

CUMBERLAND - There will be a special EMS Memorial Service and pass through by the EMS Community (EMS, fire, Medevac, and hospital personnel) for Dr. Frederick W. Miltenberger, the Region I EMS Medical Director, on Thursday, Aug. 5, at 7:15 p.m. at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland.

CATHERINE MINELLA
FROSTBURG - Irene Catherine Minella, 89, formerly of Rochester, N.Y., died June 29, 1999, at the St. Vincent de Paul Nursing Center, Frostburg.
Born Dec. 4, 1909, in Rochester, she was the daughter of the late Edward Scheid Sr. and Johanna (Weber) Scheid. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Minella Sr., in 1964.
Mrs. Minella was a bank teller at the Eastman Kodak Co. and delivered the Rochester morning newspaper for five years following retirement.
She was Catholic by faith.
Surviving are a daughter, Sister Joan Minella, S.S.N.D., Mount Savage; a son, Joseph J. Minella II, Los Lunas, N.M.; two grandsons, Joseph J. Minella III, San Antonio, Texas, Eric William Minella, Albuquerque, N.M.; a sister, Anna Burkhardt, Rochester; two brothers, George Scheid and Gerard Scheid, both of Rochester; and 18 bieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Mount Savage, on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m.
A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 7 p.m. at the church.
Interment will be in the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Rochester.
The Durst Funeral Home, PA, Frostburg, is in charge of local arrangements.

HILDA M. PETERSON
CUMBERLAND - Hilda Marie Rose Peterson, 49, of Cumberland, died Saturday, March 27, 1999, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born Nov. 25, 1949, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Ellis Augustus and Hilda Anna (Grabenstein) Rose. She also was preceded in death by one sister, Dolores J. Rose.
Mrs. Peterson was a homemaker and a member of Mount Tabor United Methodist Church. She was a student at Allegany College in the Physical Therapy program.
Surviving are her husband, William Glenn Peterson; five daughters, Latreacha Peterson Tufo, Chicopee, Mass., Twyla Peterson Bittinger, Karina Angelique Peterson, Gabrielle Rose Peterson, Felice Geneva Peterson, all of Cumberland; three sons, Blyth Augustus Peterson, Justus Emmanuel Peterson, Michael R. Fields, all of Cumberland; three sisters, Loretta Dixon, State College, Pa., Rita Crabtree, Jeanette, Pa., Mary Hadley, Cumberland; four brothers, Leo G. Rose, Donald Rose, Paul Rose, George Rose, all of Cumberland; and six grandchildren, Olivia Jane Fields, Casey Leah Fields, Victoria Sabrina Tufo, Jasmine Brooke Bittinger, Alysanne Elizabeth Tufo, and Elijah Adam Hartman.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., on Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. There will be visitation one hour prior to the service at the church.
Services will be conducted at the Mount Tabor United Methodist Church on Tuesday at 1 p.m. with Pastor Ken Hamilton and Pastor Steve Scheussler officiating.
Interment will be in the Maryland State Veterans cemetery at Rocky Gap.
The family requests contributions be made to the Mount Tabor United Methodist Church.
RALPH K. PATTERSON
FROSTBURG - Ralph K. Patterson, age 86, formerly of 201 East St., Frostburg, died Wednesday, April 28, 1999, at the Frostburg Village Nursing Care Center.
Born July 10, 1912, in Shaft, he was the son of the late Wally and Alice (Brode) Patterson. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Marie (Miller) Patterson, on Nov. 12, 1998.
Mr. Patterson was retired from Cumberland Cement and Supply Company, and formerly worked for the Celanese Corporation, and Frank Lewis & Sons Cement Company. Mr. Patterson drove the first cement truck in Frostburg.
He was a member of the Frostburg United Methodist Church, and also attended Faith Independent Baptist Church. He was a member of Mountain Lodge #99 Ancient Free and Accepted Masons, Knights of Pythias, an honorary member of the Flag Unit of the Ali Ghan Shrine, and was a charter member of the Shaft Volunteer Fire Department.
Surviving are a daughter, Lois J. Rank, and husband, James, Willis Wharf, Va.; two grandsons, Kenneth Jay Rank, Willis Wharf, and Robert K. Rank and wife, Cathy, Chesapeake Beach; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, P.A., 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Mountain Lodge #99 will conduct a memorial service at 7:30 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday at 11 a.m. with Pastor David Childs officiating.
Interment will be in the Frostburg Memorial Park.
MARY E. MINKE
CUMBERLAND - Mary Elizabeth (Stakem) Minke, 75, of Cumberland, died Thursday, June 3, 1999, at Devlin Manor Nursing Home, Cumberland, after a long illness.
Born March 5, 1924, in Midland, she was the daughter of the late Richard J. and Mary Angela (Cosgrove) Stakem. She also was preceded in death by three brothers, Leo B. Stakem, Joseph Stakem and Richard J. Stakem Jr.
Mrs. Minke was co-owner of Minke's Swimming Pool and a registrar for the Allegany County Election Board. She was a 1941 graduate of Catholic Girls Central High School and a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Cumberland. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister.
Surviving are her husband, Donald L. Minke; one son, James D. Minke and wife Ese, Port Harcourt, Nigeria; three daughters, M. Janet Minke, Baltimore, Patrice M. Hall and husband Dan, Hershey, Pa., and Kathleen M. Minke and husband Bob Sekinger, Abingdon, Md.; two brothers, William J. Stakem and wife Nancy, Frostburg, and Father Gary Stakem, O.F.M., Cap., Cleveland, Ohio; one sister, Rose Marie Webster and husband William, St. Louis, Mo.; one daughter-in-law, Noreen Minke, Santa Barbara, Calif.; seven grandchildren, Jennifer M. Minke, Adam, Aaron and Andrew Novak, James and Amanda Hall, and Melissa Minke.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Christian Wake service will be conducted Friday at 8:45 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Saturday at 11 a.m. with Father Gary Stakem, O.F.M., Cap., as celebrant.
Interment will be in SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery.
