CUMBERLAND - Marguerite R. Pirkey, 80, of the Cumberland Nursing Home, died Tuesday, Dec. 7, 1999, at the nursing home.
Graveside services will be conducted at the Davis Memorial Cemetery, Cumberland, Thursday at 3 p.m. with Brother James Kirkpatrick officiating.
Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., is in charge of the arrangements.
SONDRA LEE "PEACHES" MOORE
RIVERDALE - Sondra Lee "Peaches" (Rice) Moore, age 61, of 5213 57th Ave., Riverdale, formerly of Cumberland, died Monday, Feb. 1, 1999, at her residence.
Born Feb. 18, 1937, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Virginia (Allamong) Weatherholt and Melvin "Buddy" Rice.
She is survived by her stepfather, Carl Raymond Weatherholt, Cumberland; and her husband, Richard E. Moore Sr.
Friends will be received on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Leasure-Stein Funeral Home, 230 Baltimore Ave., Cumberland.
Graveside services will be conducted on Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Greenmount cemetery with the Rev. Vance Pastorius, O.F.M. Cap., officiating.
GERTRUDE V. MORAN
FROSTBURG - Gertrude V. Moran, 80, formerly of 70 W. Mechanic St., Frostburg, died Saturday, April 3, 1999, at Memorial Hospital. She had been a resident of St. Vincent de Paul Nursing Center.
Born Feb. 15, 1919, in Frostburg, she was the daughter of the late William M. and Margaret (Niner) Youngerman. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Edward T. Moran; and one brother, Bill Youngerman.
Mrs. Moran was a Fuller Brush representative, and a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church.
Surviving are one daughter, Karen E. Moran, at home; one brother, Harold Youngerman and wife Leota, Frostburg; two sisters, Marguerite Keating, Frostburg, and Helen Brumage, Frostburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral Home, P.A., 60 W. Main St., Frostburg, on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The Christian Wake Service will be held at 8:30 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Michael's Catholic Church on Tuesday at 10 a.m. with Father William Moody as celebrant.
Interment will be in Rest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
CLEMENTINE A. OTWELL
DENTON - Clementine A. (Poland) Otwell, 84, formerly of Frostburg, died Wednesday, March 3, 1999, in the Easton Memorial Hospital, Easton.
Born on April 27, 1914, in Barton, she was the daughter of the late John S. and Lula (Foutz) Poland. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin L. Otwell, on Nov. 6, 1989; a sister, Florence A. Poland; and two brothers, John J. Poland and Donald R. Poland.
She was of the Brethren faith.
Surviving are her daughter, Norma L. MacDonald and husband, Robert; and one grandchild, Bruce, and wife, Gail; and two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Marshall W. Poland and wife, Norma, Reisterstown, and Glenn D. Poland and wife, Virginia, Baltimore; two sisters, Mrs. Sherry Liedigk and husband, Don, Toledo, Ohio, and Mrs. June Rank, Frostburg.
Services were held on Monday, March 8, 1999, at the Moore Funeral Home, Denton.
Interment was in the Concord Cemetery, Denton.
COSTON V. NERY
CUMBERLAND - Coston Victor Nery, 82, of Allegany County Nursing Home, formerly of Creek Road, Cumberland, died Friday, July 2, 1999, at Memorial Hospital.
Born Oct. 18, 1916, in Richwood, W.Va., he was the son of the late Giovanni and Maria Colaneri.
Mr. Nery was retired from the Kelly-Springfield Tire Company. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and was Catholic by faith.
Surviving are his wife, Dolly Elenora Nery; two daughters, Helen Coker, Cumberland, Vickie R. Nery, at home; four sons, Robert Nery and wife, Pam, New Rochelle, N.Y., Coston Victor Nery Jr., Cumberland, John Nery, Ivan, N.Y., Tony Nery, Cumberland; two sisters, Marguerite Phillips, Richmond, Va., Minnie Nery, Pittsburgh, Pa.; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home Monday at 10 a.m. with Fr. Milton A. Hipsley officiating.
Interment will be in Fellowship Cemetery, Centerville, Pa. Graveside military honors will be accorded by the Combined Veterans Honor Guard.
MABEL L. MORAN
FROSTBURG - Mabel L. Moran, 86, of S. Grant Street, Frostburg, died Monday, Dec. 13, 1999, at the Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland.
Born Dec. 21, 1912, in Horseshoe Run, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late James and Edna (Blamble) Lewis. She also was preceded in death by two husbands, George Knotts in 1990 and Vergis Moran in 1970.
Mrs. Moran attended the First Church of the Nazarene, Cumberland.
Surviving are one daughter, Janie Cuthbertson and husband John, Frostburg; three sons, Kenneth Knotts and wife Annabelle, North Lawrence, Ohio, Harold Knotts Sr., Cumberland, and Allen Knotts and wife Sally, Frostburg; two sisters, Freda Eye, Parsons, W.Va., and Alma Brake, Petersburg, W.Va.; five brothers, Roy Lewis and Rufus Lewis, both of Horseshoe Run, W.Va., Roland Lewis, Lancaster, Pa., Albert Lewis and Elbert Lewis, both of Aurora, W.Va.; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Stewart Funeral Home, Oakland, Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, Dec. 16, 1999, at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Gary Barkley officiating.
Interment will be in the Garrett County Memorial Gardens, Oakland.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Joe Knotts, Doug Knotts, Randy Knotts, Harold Knotts Jr., Shawn Cuthbertson and Jason Cuthbertson.
The family requests that memorials take the form of contributions to the First Church of the Nazarene, 508 Oldtown Road, Cumberland, MD 21502.
CARL W. MCKINLEY
CUMBERLAND - Carl William McKinley, 55, of Cumberland, went to be with the Lord Sunday, May 2, 1999, at his residence.
Born June 22, 1943, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Cristy John and Freda (McDonald) McKinley.
Mr. McKinley was a lieutenant for the Cumberland Fire Department, where he served for 32 years. He was a 1961 graduate of Fort Hill High School. He was a member of the Cumberland Outdoor Club, was a member of the Firefighters Local 1715, and attended St. John's Lutheran Church. He also was an avid fisherman and hunter.
Surviving are his wife, Donna Rae (Noel) McKinley, one daughter, Carla R. White, one stepdaughter, Kimberly D. Robinette, one stepson, Francis W. Jones, two sisters, Ruth V. Twigg and husband Virgil, and Penny S. Watson, one brother, Raymond V. McKinley and wife Virginia, all of Cumberland; five grandchildren, Mandy L. Smith, Shawn A. Jones, Amber N. Robinette, William F. White Jr. and Carlyn N. White; a fishing and hunting buddy, Bob Cameron; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at St. John's Lutheran Church on Thursday at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Bernard A. Yost officiating.
Friends will be received at the church one hour prior to the service.
Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Paul Borror, Jerry Davis, Alex Gross, Andy Wolf, Jim Kasecamp and Gary Shanholtz.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Cumberland Fire Department.
