CATHERINE E. MURPHY
CUMBERLAND - Catherine Elizabeth Murphy, 74, of 1104 Frederick St., Cumberland, died Monday, Dec. 13, 1999, at Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore.

Born July 30, 1925, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of Norman Ruppert Hast, Cumberland, and the late Wanda Waneta (Hardesty) Hast. She also was preceded in death by her husband, John J. Murphy.

Mrs. Murphy was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church.

Surviving besides her father, are one son, Timothy A. Murphy and wife Cheryl, Baltimore; one brother, John H. Hast and wife Jean, Rockville; and two granddaughters, Grace K. Murphy and Jean E. Murphy, both of Baltimore.

Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Christian Wake service will be held at the funeral home Wednesday at 8:45 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church on Thursday at 10 a.m. with Father Vance Pastorius as celebrant.

Interment will be in the Union Cemetery, Burtonsville, Md.

ORA MARY PRICE
HAGERSTOWN - Ora Mary Price, 80, of 902 Pope Ave., Hagerstown, died on Monday, Jan. 4, 1999, at the Western Maryland Hospital Center, Hagerstown.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Nelson Price, on Sept. 2, 1972.

Born Jan. 11, 1918, in Avilton, she was the daughter of the late Charles Henry and Matilda A. McKencie Warne.

She was of the Catholic faith.

She is survived by three daughters, Bonnie M. Price Rice, Betty L. Whittington and Beverly D. Johnston, all of Hagerstown; one son, Charles William Price, Williamsport; one sister, Regina Rafferty, Grantsville; one brother, Thomas Austin "Boss" Warne, Grantsville; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two nieces; one nephew; and several great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Virginia Stark; and one brother, Daniel G. Warne.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday at the Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. Mr. George I. Jakopac will officiate.

Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown.

Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Prayers will be recited at the funeral home on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Western Maryland Hospital Center, 1500 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, MD 21742, or to the Washington County Commission on Aging Inc., 9 Public Square, Hagerstown, MD 21740.

CLYDE GORDON PAGE
LAVALE - Clyde Gordon Page, 86, formerly of LaVale, died Tuesday, June 15, 1999, at Northampton Manor Nursing Center in Frederick, where he had been a resident since 1996.

Born in Port Clinton, he was the son of the late John and Bertha (Gordon) Page. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Thelma (Eagan) Page, in 1996.

Mr. Page attended Virginia Avenue School throughout the eighth grade, then began working at the Cumberland Glass Factory. Several years later he began employment at the Celanese Fortrel Company, then joined the security force of the Kelly-Springfield Tire Company. Mr. Page served in the U.S. Navy during World War II aboard the U.S.S. Currituck in the Pacific Theatre. He was a combat veteran of the battles of Leyte and Lin Gan Gulf. Following his discharge from Naval services, Mr. Page returned to the Kelly-Springfield as a tire builder. He retired in 1975 with over 30 years of service. As a young man, he participated in club sports and was a member of the Cumberland Bluebirds. He was a lifelong fan of major league baseball, particularly the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Baltimore Orioles. His interests included watercolor painting and woodworking, and he attended the 1990 reunion of Navy veterans assigned to the U.S.S. Currituck, in Phoenix, Ariz.

Survivors include his daughter, Patricia E. Charuhas and son-in-law, Peter C. Charuhas, Walkersville; two grandchildren, Christopher Gordon Charuhas, Alexandria, Va., and Patricia Diane Myers, Beaufort, S.C., and her husband, Trent King Myers; and a great-granddaughter, Rachel Cecilia Myers.

Friends will be received in the Hafer Chapel of the Hills Mortuary, 1302 National Highway, LaVale, on Saturday from 8:30 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 a.m. in St. Patrick Catholic Church, Cumberland, with the Rev. Fr. Thomas R. Bevan as celebrant.

Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Military rites will be accorded at the cemetery by the Combined Veterans Honor Guard.

CLARENCE R. MURPHY
LONG STRETCH - Clarence R. Murphy died April 24, 1999, at his home in Houston, Texas. He had been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 1982.

Clarence was born Nov. 24, 1915, in Garrett County on the family farm on Long Stretch. His parents were the late C. Arthur and Corlista (Groghan) Murphy. Clarence graduated from Grantsville High School in 1933. He had worked at the Celanese Plant in Cumberland until 1946 and then was transferred to the Celanese Lab in Corpus Christi as a chemical engineer. He joined Warren Petroleum in Tulsa, Okla., in 1947. Gulf Oil transferred the Warren Lab workers to Pittsburgh, Pa., in 1958. In 1975 he was transferred to Gulf's new polymer lab in Houston. In the 31 years at Warren/Gulf he was awarded 30 patents.

His brothers William, Sam, John, Charlie and Seth preceded Clarence in death. His sister, Sarah Shanholtz of Cumberland and two brothers survive him, Paul in Michigan and George of Zihlman. Also survived by his wife of 58 years, Eva (Miller) Murphy formerly of Mount Savage; two sons, David and his wife, Joanne of Corpus Christi, Texas; Dennis and wife Katie of Southlake, Texas; and two daughters, Carol Brown of Laurel, Mont. and Cindy with husband, John Bartos of Houston. The family extends to two grandsons and four granddaughters.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 10, at 10 a.m. at the Mount Zion Methodist Church, Long Stretch, Garrett County. The Rev. Steven Lightner will conduct the service. Burial will be in the family plot in Mount Zion Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Mount Zion United Methodist Church, c/o Rev. Steven Lightner, 2704 Green Lantern Road, Frostburg, MD 21532.

Sowers Funeral Home, P.A., 60 West Main Street, Frostburg, is in charge of arrangements.

ALEX E. PATTON
LONACONING - Alex E. Patton, 69, of 41 Douglas Ave., Lonaconing, died Sunday, June 20, 1999, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland.

Born on July 23, 1929, at Youngstown, Ohio, he was the son of Catherine (McCormick) Patton of Lonaconing and the late Alexander Patton.

Mr. Patton was a member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, Westernport, where he previously served on the church council and was Past Treasurer.

He was a life member of Good Will Fire Co. #1, Lonaconing, and was Past President, Past Secretary and Past Treasurer. He was a 1948 graduate of Central High School. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran having served from 1950 to 1952. Alex was a member of Alvin C. Neat V.F.W., Lonaconing, and a member of Victory Post American Legion, Westernport. He retired in 1992 from Westvaco Corp., having worked in the Accounting Dept. He was also previously employed by Allegany Ballistics. In addition, he previously served on the Lonaconing Town Council.

Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife of 45 years, B. Jean (Alkire) Patton; one son, Thomas E. Patton and wife Amy of Barton; one daughter, Jodi Ternent and husband James of Lonaconing; one brother, Thomas William Patton and wife Shirley of Lonaconing; and three granddaughters, Megan Patton, Jennifer Patton and Christine Ternent.

The family will receive friends at the Boal Funeral Home, Lonaconing, on Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be conducted at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, Westernport, on Wednesday at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Matthew Riegel and the Rev. Michael Tamorria officiating.

Interment will be in Frostburg Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Good Will Fire Co. or Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church. Cards for memorials are available at the funeral home.

CLEONA V. MURPHY
WESTERNPORT - Cleona V. Murphy, 80, of 104 Potomac St., Westernport, died Wednesday, Oct. 27, 1999, at her residence.

Born on June 5, 1919, in Blaine, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late John W. and Mary E. (Metz) Murphy. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Lyle L. Murphy.

Mrs. Murphy was a retired from Westvaco Corporation, having worked in the finishing department. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Westernport, and a member of Westernport Senior Citizens.

Surviving are a brother, Kenneth Murphy and wife, Phyllis, of Keyser, a sister-in-law, Roberta Murphy, of Springs, Texas; three nieces, Mary Jane Smith, Diane DeCort, and Susan Harvey; one nephew, Michael Murphy; a special cousin, Harry Harshbarger, of Piedmont, W.Va.; and several other cousins.

The family will receive friends at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home, on Saturday at 11 a.m.

Interment will be in Philos Cemetery.
