PEARL L. MCKENZIE
RAVENNA, Ohio - Pearl L. McKenzie, age 79, of Ravenna, formerly of Finzel, Md., died Monday, June 21, 1999, at the Cleveland Clinic following several months of failing health.
Born Nov. 17, 1919, in Meyersdale, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Henry and Mae (Jones) Shockey. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Raymond C. McKenzie, in March 1998; and four brothers, Carl, Freeman, Leonard and Roy Shockey.
Mrs. McKenzie was retired from Lamb Electric in Kent where she worked for 25 years.
Surviving are one daughter, Darlene McKenzie, Ravenna; one brother, Harold Shockey and wife, Mary Margaret, Johnstown, Pa.; two sisters, Verda Werner and husband, Nelson "Scootch," and Charlotte Willey, Barberton; and a half-brother, Edison Shockey, Florida.
Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, P.A., 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday at 11 a.m. by her nephew, Benny Werner, as speaker.
Interment will be in the Finzel Cemetery.
LUTHER F. PLATTER
GRANTSVILLE - Luther Francis Platter, 75, of 49 Old Farm Lane, Grantsville, died Friday, May 21, 1999, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland.
Born Dec. 3, 1923, in Grantsville, he was a son of the late Irvin and Mintie (Durst) Platter. Mr. Platter was a member of Laughlin Church of the Brethren and was currently employed as a custodian at Flushing Shirt Factory, Grantsville.
He is survived by his wife, Wilma A. (Sell) Platter; a son, Harold E. Platter, Waynesburg, Pa.; two daughters, Debra Holliday, Grantsville, and Rose Platter; a stepson, Roy D. Kinsinger, Rapid City, S.D.; a stepdaughter, Sandra Kinsinger, Grantsville; four sisters, Orpha Wisseman, Hilda Younkin and Melva Platter, all of Grantsville, and Marie Willison, Eckhart; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., Grantsville, Md., on Monday, May 24, 1999, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Ross Glotfelty officiating. Interment will be in the Grantsville Cemetery.
JAMES L. MONAHAN
ECKHART - James L. Monahan, 79, of Eckhart, died Friday, Sept. 24, 1999, at the St. Vincent de Paul Nursing Center.
Born Feb. 18, 1920, in Frostburg, he was the son of the late Hugh and Matilda (Sperry) Monahan. He also was preceded in death by his wife, Neva Monahan, on Dec. 18, 1989; and two brothers, Francis Monahan and Elmer Monahan.
Mr. Monahan retired after 19 years as a salesman for Home Beneficial Life Insurance Co. He attended Eckhart Baptist Church.
Mr. Monahan was a World War II, U.S. Marine Corps Aviation, veteran having served in the Philippines. He was a lifetime member of American Legion Farrady Post 24.
Surviving are one son, the Rev. Kenneth J. Monahan and wife Cynthia, Somersworth, N.H.; one daughter, Darla M. Plummer and husband Robert, Eckhart; five grandchildren, Erin Kiefer, Kenneth Monahan, Sarah Monahan, Timothy Monahan and James Plummer; and five sisters, Matilda Bittinger, Frostburg, Louise Swadley, Carpendale, W.Va., Agnes Clark, Frostburg, Evelyn Lloyd, Furnace Acres, W.Va., and Leona Young, Warren, Ohio.
Friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral Home, P.A., 60 W. Main St., Frostburg, on Sunday from 3 to 7 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Kenneth Monahan and the Rev. Richard Metrick officiating.
Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens.

MARGARET E. MCKENZIE
FROSTBURG - Margaret E. McKenzie, 85, of 100 Honeysuckle Lane, Frostburg, died Monday, Sept. 13, 1999, at the Frostburg Village Nursing Care Center, Frostburg.
Born March 17, 1914, in Frostburg, she was the daughter of the late Harry E. and Agnes (Winner) Dishong Sr. She also was preceded in death by her husband, John "Mac" McKenzie; an infant daughter, Mary Margaret McKenzie; and three brothers, Harry E. Dishong Jr., Bernard S. Dishong and Haybert Younkins.
Mrs. McKenzie was a former seamstress at the Michael Berkowitz Shirt Factory.
She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, Frostburg.
Surviving are five nieces, Susan Dishong, Cumberland, Mary Beth Pirolozzi, Cumberland, Joann Myers, Rawlings, Carol Ann Carr, Frostburg, and Jean Dempsey, Pittsburgh; two nephews, Jack Dishong, Frostburg, and Henry McKenzie, Frostburg; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, P.A., 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at St. Michael's Catholic Church on Thursday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Father William Moody officiating.
Interment will be in the Frostburg Memorial Park.
CRAIG A. MONAHAN
TOWSON - Craig Anthony Monahan, 28, of Towson, formerly of Cumberland, died Sunday, Nov. 21, 1999, in Philadelphia, Pa.
Born April 2, 1971, in Cumberland, he was the son of Ronald J. and Mary Catherine (Deremer) Monahan, Cumberland. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Raymond E. Deremer and Vincent J. Monahan.
Mr. Monahan was an Independent Live-Camera Operator, covering major sports events for major networks such as CBS, FOX, ESPN and HTS. He was a member of Saint Patrick's Catholic Church, Cumberland. He was a 1989 graduate of Bishop Walsh High School. He attended Shippensburg University and received his Communications Degree from Towson University in 1995.
Surviving in addition to his parents are one sister, Amy L. Monahan; the love of his life, Heather Mower; special companion, his black lab, Calie; maternal grandmother, Anna I. Deremer; paternal grandmother, May E. Monahan; one aunt, Mary Kay Serafini and husband Nicholas and their children, Jennifer and Brian Cessna; one uncle and Godfather, Eric T. Deremer and wife Nancy and their son, Adam; several great aunts and great uncles, cousins and very good friends.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., Cresaptown, Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and Wednesday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. A Christian Wake will be conducted Tuesday at 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Patrick's Catholic Church Wednesday at 1 p.m. with the Monsignor Thomas R. Bevan as celebrant.
Interment will be in the Saint Mary's Cemetery, Cumberland.
The family requests contributions be made to Saint Patrick's Catholic Church or Bishop Walsh Middle/High School.
LAWRENCE J. MINNICK
FROSTBURG - Lawrence Joseph "Gomas" Minnick, 74, of 12001 Sandbank Road N.W., Frostburg, died Tuesday, Oct. 12, 1999, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland.
Born Oct. 24, 1924, in Frostburg, he was the son of the late James Bernard and Frances Loretta "Fannie" (McKenzie) Minnick. He also was preceded in death by one granddaughter; two brothers and six sisters.
Mr. Minnick was retired from Picker International of Ohio where they manufactured and tested x-ray equipment. He also was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II.
Mr. Minnick was Catholic by faith and a member of Farrady Post 24 American Legion, Frostburg.
Surviving are six daughters, Bonnita Cole, Frostburg, Loretta Minnick, Cumberland, Patricia Matthews, Wiley Ford, W.Va., Regina Kitzmiller, Midlothian, Marlene Broadwater, Mount Savage, and Elizabeth Enos, Eckhart; two sons, Tony Minnick, Midlothian, and Ronald Minnick, Bowling Green, Va.; one brother, Allen "Add" Minnick, Frostburg, one sister, Helen Brode, Frostburg; 25 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews; and a very special friend, Bill Dye, Eckhart.
Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, P.A., 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted there Friday at 11 a.m. Military honors will be accorded by the Farrady Post #24 Honor Guard.
The body will be cremated following the services. Inurnment will be in the Maryland State Veteran's Cemetery, Rocky Gap.
