WINIFRED V. PETERSON
MOUNT SAVAGE - Winifred V. Peterson, 81, of Mount Savage, died Thursday, March 25, 1999, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland.
Born Aug. 7, 1917, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Alfred T. and Effie P. (Karnes) Crutchley. She also was preceded in death by her husband, William John Peterson, on Sept. 13, 1976; one brother, Alfred C. Crutchley; and one sister, June Hare.
Mrs. Peterson was a former employee of Bendex Corporation, Baltimore, and the Celanese Corporation, Cumberland. She was a member of the Oliver Grove United Methodist Church, Oldtown.
Surviving are one daughter, Peggy Trimble and husband, Thomas, Mount Savage; four grandchildren, Konnie Christman, Billy Christman, Seth Trimble, Kendra Trimble; two sisters, Pauline Robinette, Wiley Ford, W.Va., Betty Evans, Oldtown; two brothers, Paul Crutchley, Oldtown, Jimmy Crutchley, California; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., on Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Richard Broome officiating.
Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be John Hutzell, Tom Trimble, Earl Trimble, Alan Lowery and Danny Martin.
MARGARET L. MARTIN
FROSTBURG - Margaret Louise Martin, age 77, of 51 Broadway, died Saturday, July 10, 1999, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born March 11, 1922, in Clarysville, she was the daughter of the late Bernard and Hilda (Delaney) Martin. She was also preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
Miss Martin was retired from Babcock and Wilcox Company, Barberton, Ohio. She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, the Sodality, and the Catholic Daughters of America.
Surviving are one sister, Agnes Fisher and husband, Albert; one brother, William Donahue and wife, Lena, all of Frostburg; a special niece, Susan Johnson, Cumberland; and several other nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, P.A., 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10 a.m. in St. Michael's Catholic Church with the Rev. Father William E. Moody as celebrant.
Interment will be in the Parish Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Allen Fisher, John Williams, Jim Martin, John Martin, Bill Vogel and James Martin. Honorary Pallbearers are Fred Collins and Lionel Norris.
Family requests memorials be directed to St. Michael's Catholic Church or the Frostburg Area Ambulance Service.
FISHER S. PAGE
CUMBERLAND - Fisher Sutton Page, 79, formally of 439 Pine Ave., Cumberland, and the Dennett Road Manor Nursing Home, Oakland, died Tuesday, Dec. 29, 1998, at Garrett County Memorial Hospital, Oakland.
Born Dec. 22, 1919, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Jesse Page and Gertrude (Davis) Page.
Mr. Page was a parking garage manager and a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army.
Surviving are his wife, Thalia (Mallory) Paige, Brooklyn, N.Y.; three sons, Darryl Page, Frostburg, Glenn Page, New Jersey, and Mallory Page, New York; one daughter, Arsene Tolliver, New Jersey; four sisters, Virginia Flurry, Jessup, Marion Page, Cumberland, Wiona Mitchell, Pittsburgh, and Mayola Banks, Cumberland; and three brothers, Marvin Page, Cerritos, Calif., William Page, New York City, and Kenneth Page, Queen City, Texas.
Mr. Page was cremated at the Cumberland Crematory.
Services will be scheduled at a later date.

RUTH G. MARTIN
OAKLAND - Ruth G. Martin, 78, of 13908 Garrett Highway, Oakland, died Sunday, April 4, 1999, at Cuppett-Weeks Nursing Home, Oakland.
Born March 7, 1921, in Bittinger, she was a daughter of the late John and Rosa (Stark) Beitzel.
Mrs. Martin was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Oakland, and was a retired cook for Juvenile Services, having been employed at the Backbone Mountain, Lonaconing, and Meadow Mountain boys camps for more than 25 years.
She is survived by her husband, Matthew Ellis Martin Jr.; and a brother, Marvin Beitzel, Chelsea, Okla.
Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., McHenry, on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Michael Robinson officiating.
Interment will be in the Bittinger Cemetery.
Expressions of sympathy may be directed to either Hospice of Garrett County, Southern Garrett Rescue Squad, or Oakland Volunteer Fire Department.
GENE R. MARTZ
TOLEDO, Ohio - Gene R. Martz, age 56, residing in Toledo, died April 26, 1999, at Northwest Hospice of Perrysburg, Ohio, of cancer after a short illness.
He was born July 19, 1943, in Cresaptown, Md.
He was employed for Clopper Oil Company and was a manager of the Gulf service station in Bowling Green.
He was twice married, and was the son of the late Julius W. Martz and Anna M. (Casserly) Martz of Cresaptown. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Albert J. Martz, Akron, Ohio, and Leo Joseph Martz, Canton, Ohio.
Surviving are two daughters, Victoria Martz and Patricia Laws, both of Toledo; and son, Gene Robert Martz Jr., LaVale, Md. Also surviving are five sisters, June M. Dine, Canton, Betty Clarke, Louisville, Ohio, Mary Kunkle and husband, John, and Shirley A. Baker, both of Cresaptown, and Alice Rizer, Hyndman, Pa.; also six grandchildren, all of Toledo.
His wishes were to be cremated. A private service will be held at St. Ambrose cemetery in Cresaptown at a later date.
ALICE J. NIGHTINGALE
LONACONING - Alice Johnson Nightingale, 87, formerly of 2 Bridge St., Lonaconing, died Sunday, Oct. 31, 1999, at the Egle Nursing Home, Lonaconing.
Born March 1, 1912, in Lonaconing, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Ternent) Johnson. She also was preceded in death by her husband, William Wesley Nightingale on Nov. 11, 1973; two brothers, Onis and Arthur Johnson; and two sisters, Edna Russell and Mary Crawford.
Mrs. Nightingale was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Lonaconing.
Surviving are one son, Norman William Nightingale and wife Juanita, Bel Air, Cumberland; two grandchildren, Brian K. and Mark N.; five great-grandchildren, Sarah B., Kelsey L., Patrick B., Tyler B., and Hannah E.; three brothers, Elmer Johnson, Midland, John Johnson Jr., Detmold, and Curtis Johnson, Gilmore; one sister, Pearl Alexander, Detmold; and nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Eichhorn-McKenzie Funeral Home, P.A., Lonaconing, Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted there Tuesday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Richard Mortimore officiating.
Interment will be at the Oak Hill Cemetery, Lonaconing.
