DOUGLAS S. MAY
CUMBERLAND - Douglas Stanford May, 89, formally of 715 Sylvan Ave. and Cumberland Nursing Home, passed away Wednesday, March 3, 1999, at Memorial Hospital.
Born in Cumberland Jan. 30, 1910, he was the son of the late Harvey M. May and the late Hester H. (Holler) May. He also was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel M. (Ketterman) Berndt May; a son, Russell May; a grandson, Charles Douglas Berndt; and a sister, Beulah Yutzy.
Mr. May was a retired carpenter for Local 1024 Carpenters Union; a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church; and a U.S. Navy Seabees veteran of World War II.
Surviving are one son, Carl W. "Bill" Berndt, Waynesboro, Pa.; one brother, Denzil May, Cumberland; three grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Lee A. McDaniel officiating.
Interment will be in the Lybarger Cemetery, Hyndman, Pa.
JOHN D. MAY
CUMBERLAND - John David May, 67, of Cumberland, died Tuesday, Sept. 28, 1999, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born March 3, 1932, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Wilbur Dewey and Gretchen Jane (Miller) May.
Mr. May was a 1950 graduate of LaSalle High School. He also graduated from Catherman's Business School.
Mr. May served in the U.S. Army from 1951-57, holding the rank of sergeant.
Mr. May was the former owner and operator of May Motors on Mechanic Street. He then went to Shaffer Toyota, Chevrolet, and Buick, where he was involved in car sales and leasing.
Mr. May was a lifelong member of Saint Peter and Paul Catholic Church. He was a long-standing member of Lodge #271, Loyal Order of Moose; Aerie #245, Fraternal Order of Eagles; Lodge #63, Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks; Past Grand Knight, Council #586, Knights of Columbus, and Wamba Caravan #89, Order of Alhambra.
Surviving are his wife, Donna Lou (Allamong) May; one daughter, Beth Kline, Philadelphia, Pa.; two sons, John David May II, Chambersburg, Pa., and Steve May, Cumberland, and six grandchildren, Brandi, Jordan, Allison, Rachael, Jacob, and Samuel.
Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, P.A., 202 Greene St., Cumberland, on Thursday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.
The Christian Wake Service will be held there on Thursday at 8:45 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church on Friday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Vance Pastorius, OFM, Cap, as celebrant.
Interment will be in MSVC, Rocky Gap.

REGINA K. O'ROURKE
SUFFOLK, Va. - Regina Kathryn O'Rourke, 87, of 126 Pitchkettle Point Circle, Suffolk, passed on to eternal life on Wednesday, Dec. 29, 1999, at the Obici Hospital in Suffolk, Va.
Born Nov. 11, 1912, in Lord, Md., she was the daughter of the late Harry McKenzie and Ida (Wilhelm) McKenzie. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph I. O'Rourke.
Surviving are two daughters, Elaine Muir and husband Jim, Lonaconing, Md., and Tillie Rivenbark and husband David, Suffolk; two brothers, Gordon McKenzie and wife Betty, Frostburg, Md., and Clinton McKenzie and wife Mary, Grantsville, Md.; 10 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Kathryn was a member of St. Mary's of the Presentation for the past nine years., and the Sodality of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Lonaconing. She was a devoted and loving mother and grandmother. She will always be remembered for her devout faith, love of nature, and gentle spirit. She has touched the lives of many and will be greatly missed.
The family will receive visitors at the Eichhorn-McKenzie Funeral Home, Lonaconing, on Thursday, Dec. 30, 1999, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Christian Wake Service will be conducted at the funeral home Thursday, Dec. 30 at 7 p.m. with Sister Marietta Culhane, OSF Pastorial Life Director of St. Mary's Church, officiating.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the St. Mary's of the Annunciation Catholic Church, Lonaconing, on Friday, Dec. 31, 1999, at 9:30 a.m. with Father Paul Byrnes as celebrant.
Burial will be in the Laurel Hill Cemetery, Moscow Mills, Md.
WANDA L. PARTLOW
CUMBERLAND - Wanda Lee Partlow, 70, of Cumberland, died Tuesday, July 27, 1999, at Memorial Hospital.
Born Nov. 7, 1928, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Effie (Hamilton) Parsons.
Mrs. Partlow was a graduate of Fort Hill High School in 1946 and was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Cumberland. She was formerly employed with C&P; Telephone Company and was the retired General Manager of the Wes-Mar Telephone Company Credit Union.
Surviving are her husband, William V. Partlow Sr.; two daughters, Kay Atkins and fiance, John Wright, Florida, Carolyn Smith, Cumberland; one son, William V. Partlow Jr. and wife, Elisa, Cumberland; four grandchildren, Allison Smith, Julie Smith, both of Cumberland, Michael Atkins and Timothy Atkins, both of Florida.
Graveside and interment services will be conducted at Maryland State Veterans cemetery at Rocky Gap on Thursday at 2 p.m.
The family requests that contributions be made in memory of Wanda Partlow to the American Heart Association or to the charity of the donor's choice.

EDWARD K. MCALPLINE
LONACONING - Edward Kenneth McAlpine, 71, of 15570 Lower Georges Creek Road, S.W., Lonaconing, died Feb. 15, 1999, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland.
Born June 7, 1927, in Lonaconing, he was a son of the late Alexander Bell McAlpine and Anna Marie (Hausrath) McAlpine. He was also preceded in death by one brother George McAlpine; and one sister, Lib Penner.
He retired June 20, 1989, from Pittsburgh Plate Glass with 33 years' service. Mr. McAlpine was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of John J. Devlin Post #169 American Legion, Midland, and Midland Sportsmen's Club.
He was of the Methodist faith.
Surviving are his wife, Rose Marie (Spiker) McAlpine; four children, Lee Ann Foote, Lonaconing, Gayle L. Kenner and husband, Ed, Midland, John Edward McAlpine, Bedford, Pa., Mary L. Pinder and husband, Will, Lonaconing; three sisters, Annabelle Neilson, Frostburg, Mary Blanc, Cleveland, Ohio, Carolyn Stafford, Lonaconing; three brothers James McAlpine, Baltimore, Charles McAlpine, Colonial Heights, Va., and Alex "Cue-Ball" McAlpine, Lonaconing; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the Eichhorn-McKenzie Funeral Home, P.A., Lonaconing, Wednesday, Feb. 17, 1999, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
