MAUDE PAUGH
Maude Paugh, 85, McHenry, died Friday, May 5, 2000, at Garrett County Memorial Hospital, Oakland.
Born April 22, 1915, in Deer Park, she was a daughter of the late Edmund and Bertha (Harvey) Harvey.
She attended the McHenry United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Bennett M. Paugh; one son, B. Dale Paugh, McHenry; one sister, Norma Carr, Oakland; and one brother, Carroll E. Harvey, Leesburg, Fla.
Friends were received at the Stewart Funeral Home, Oakland. A service was conducted at the McHenry United Methodist Church on Monday, May 8, with the Rev. Warren Friend officiating. Interment was in Garrett County Memorial Gardens, Oakland.

ELBERT R. KNICK
Elbert Roscoe Knick, 77, Cresaptown, died Thursday, May 4, 2000, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland.
Born Nov. 7, 1922, in Alum Springs, Va., he was a son of the late Ora Lee and Mattie (Hicks) Knick. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Clifford Knick.
He was retired after 29 years of service with the Kelly-Springfield Tire Company. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, having served on the USS Pensacola. He was actively involved with the Cresaptown United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Margaret Virginia Knick; two daughters, Donna Lee Knick, Cresaptown, and JoAnn "Dee" Bohn, Newton, N.C.; one son, Leo Raymond Sayilisky, Huntington, W.Va. and Deep Creek Lake; two brothers, Omer Knick, Baltimore, and Edward Knick; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Friends were received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, Cresaptown, where a service was conducted Sunday, May 7, with the Rev. Harold R. McClay Jr. officiating. Interment was in Sunset Memorial Park.
Military honors were accorded at the cemetery by members of the Combined Veterans Honor Guard.
FRANCES L. GREEN
Frances Louise Green, 73, Cresaptown, died Friday, May 5, 2000, at the Cumberland Nursing Home, where she had been a resident.
Born Jan. 18, 1927, in Jennings, she was a daughter of the late Ray and Gladys (Palmer) Wilt. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Chester H. Green, in 1985; one sister, Hattie Housel; and one brother, Claire Wilt.
She was a member of the Jennings United Methodist Church.
Survivors include three sons, James L. Green, Cumberland, David G. Green, New Bethlehem, Pa., and Willard Wilt, Boonesboro; three brothers, Raymond Wilt, Friendsville, and Robert Wilt and Willard Wilt, both of Jennings; one sister, Phyllis Donahue, Jennings; and three grand-children.
Friends were received at the Boal Funeral Home, Lonaconing, where a service was conducted Monday, May 8, with the Rev. Harold McClay officiating. Interment was in the Laurel Hill Cemetery, Moscow Mills.
E. MAE CAPLE
E. Mae (Hill) Caple, 90, Hanover, Pa., formerly of Reese, died Saturday, May 6, 2000, at Homewood at Plum Creek, where she had been a resident since March 1995.
Born Jan. 16, 1910, near Gamber, she was a daughter of the late James Henry and Mary Emily (Lockhard) Hill. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth G. Caple, in 1979; one son, Ray Allen Caple; and three brothers, Charles, J. Harry, and George Hill.
She was a homemaker and a charter member of the Reese Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, the Carroll County Hospital Auxiliary, and the Sandymount United Methodist Church, Finksburg.
Survivors include two sons, K. Grady Caple Jr., Roaring Spring, Pa., and Wayne Hill Caple, Oakland; two daughters, Phyllis Bowersox and Pat Burkholder, both of Westminster; one sister, Mary G. Harden, Hanover; eight grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
Friends were received at the Pritts Funeral Home, Westminster, and the Sandymount United Methodist Church, where a service was conducted Wednesday, May 10, with the Rev. E. James Stutler and the Rev. Bill Boyer officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.

OLEN N. SCHROCK
Olen N. Schrock, 72, Oakland, died Saturday, May 6, 2000, at his home.
Born Nov. 30, 1927, in Oakland, he was a son of the late Noah D. and Cora (Burkholder) Schrock.
Survivors include three brothers, Norman Schrock and Ernest Schrock, both of Oakland, and Sim Schrock, Fairfax, Va.; and one sister, Lydia Miller, Roodhouse, Ill.
Friends were received at the Pleasant Valley Community Center, where a service was conducted Tuesday, May 9, with Bishop Sanford Bender and Alva Maust officiating. Interment followed in the Slabaugh Cemetery.
The Durst Funeral Home, Oakland, was in charge of arrangements.
EDWARD T. MARONEY
Edward Thomas Maroney, 88, Baltimore, formerly of Garrett County, died May 7, 2000, in Baltimore.
He was born Oct. 14, 1911 in Garrett County. He was preceded in death by two daughters, Mary Catherine Guidry and Patricia A. Hamor.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Maroney; four sons, Thomas E. Maroney, William H. Maroney, Michael J. Maroney, and Patrick J. Maroney; three daughters, Rosemary A. Littlejohn, Elizabeth A. Pierce, and Teresa L. Booz; 23 grand-children; and 20 great-grandchildren.
Friends were received at the Connelly Funeral Home of Dundalk. A service was conducted Wednesday, May 6, at Our Lady of Hope Church. Interment was in the Holy Rosary Cemetery.
HOWARD R. BRENNEMAN
Howard R. Brenneman, 94, Westernport, died Tuesday, May 9, 2000, at Moran Manor Nursing Home, where he had been a resident.
Born Nov. 20, 1905, in Grantsville, he was the son of the late Lewis and Ada (Swauger) Brenneman. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Alice B. (Rounds) Brenneman, in 1996, and one daughter, Barbara Ann Jones.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Westernport. He retired from Westvaco Corp., where he worked in research. He was a former member and past master of Hiram Lodge 103 AF&AM.
Survivors include two sons, Howard "Bob" Brenneman Jr., Titusville, Fla., and Keith Brenneman, Odessa, Fla.; two daughters, Lois Burke, Westernport, and Elaine Hiser, Stubenville, Ohio; one sister, Elsie Grimm, Baltimore; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday. A service will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday, May 13, at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Eric Durden officiating. Interment will follow in the Philos Cemetery, Westernport.
THELMA D. CLARKE
Thelma D. (Sliger) Clarke, 86, Wisconsin, formerly of Oakland, died Wednesday, April 12, 2000, at the Rennes Health Care Center.
Born Dec. 11, 1913, in Oakland, she was a daughter of the late Wilbert and Mary (Armstrong) Sliger. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Louis J. Clarke, in 1987; one grandson; and five brothers.
She was a former employee of Juvenile Furniture. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church and volunteered her time at St. Elizabeth Hospital.
Survivors include one daughter, Janet L. Liebert, Deerfield, Wisc.; one son, John L. Clarke, Appleton, Wisc.; her stepmother, Becky Sliger, Oakland; one brother, Ervin Sliger, Oakland; five sisters, Daisy Graham, Oakland, Effie Mae Wotring, Aurora, W.Va., Vida Sliger, Oakland, Judy Shaffer, Horse Shoe Run, W.Va., and Jennie Holtschneider, Deer Park; and one grandson.
Friends were received at the Wichmann Funeral Home, Appleton. A service was conducted at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Saturday, April 15. Interment was in St. Joseph Cemetery.
A parish prayer service was conducted at the funeral home on April 14.
DELMAR F. MOATS
Delmar F. Moats, 76, Oakland, died Sunday, May 7, 2000, at the Cuppett-Weeks Nursing Home, Oakland.
Born May 25, 1923, in Crellin, he was a son of the late Amos and Martha (Moats) Moats. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Dora K. (Moats) Moats, and three brothers, Virgil Moats, Russell Moats, and Cecil Moats.
He was U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include two daughters, Della Dice, Parsons, W.Va., and Nancy Marple, Piedmont, W.Va.; one son, Franklin D. Moats, Hutton; two sisters, Bertha White and Alberta Friend, both of Crellin; 11 grand-children; and six great-grandchildren.
Friends were received at the Stewart Funeral Home, Oakland, where a servcie was conducted Wednesday, May 10, with the Rev. Ruth Hall officiating. Interment was in the Aurora (W.Va.) Cemetery.
Military honors were accorded at the cemetery by members of the various veterans organizations in southern Garrett County.
JOSEPH A. MCKENZIE
Joseph Alfred McKenzie, 68, Frostburg, died Thursday, April 28, 2000, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland.
Born July 7, 1931, in Garrett County, he was a son of the late Thomas P. and Nellie (Garlitz) McKenzie. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Ralph McKenzie, and one in infancy.
He was retired from the warehouse department at the Celanese Fibers Corporation, and was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Korean Conflict.
He was a member of the Frostburg Eagles Aerie 1273, Farrady Post 24 American Legion, Frostburg, and the Big Savage Sportsmen's Club.
Survivors include his wife, Carlene (Rush) McKenzie; two sons, Troy McKenzie, Atlanta, Ga., and Randy McKenzie, at home; two daughters, Tracy McKenzie, Finzel, and Krista Clark, Zilhman; five brothers, David McKenzie, Lafe McKenzie, Regis McKenzie, Roger McKenzie, and Olin McKenzie, all of Garrett County; four sisters, Thelma Iser, Rawlings, Martha Fadley, LaVale, Helen Resh, Grantsville, and Ora Keister, Frostburg; four grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.
Friends were received at the Durst Funeral Home, Frostburg, where a service was conducted Monday, May 1, with the Rev. Fr. William Moody officiating. Interment was in the Finzel Cemetery.
Military honors were accorded at the cemetery by members of Farrady Post 24 American Legion Honor Guard.
