MARY M. MARPLE
OAKLAND - Mary Magnolia (Metcalfe) Marple, 89, of Oakland, formerly of Beryl and Piedmont, W.Va., went to be with the Lord on Sunday, Oct. 31, 1999, at the Garrett Memorial Hospital, Oakland.
Born April 21, 1910, in Sulpher City, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Jesse and Elizabeth (Poling) Metcalfe. She also was preceded in death by her husband Melvin T. (Pappy) Marple; a twin daughter, Kathleen Marple; two sons, Terry Marple and James Marple; four sisters, Isabelle Keller, Marie Trenum, Libby Crawford and Virginia Whisner; and two brothers, Fitzugh Metcalfe and an infant brother.
Mrs. Marple was a charter member of the Piedmont Church of God.
Surviving are five daughters, Doris Welch and husband Clifford, Oakland, Vera Whisner and husband Paul, Piedmont, W.Va., Joy Feaster, Keyser, W.Va., Maxine Shugars and husband Glen, New Comerstown, Ohio, and Darlene Smiley and husband Bill, Swanton; two sons, Kenneth Marple and wife Sarah, Gorman, and Leon Marple and wife Jean, Bloomington; proud grandmother of twenty grandchildren, Reba Rush, Mary Hinebaugh, Tommy Welch, Clifford Welch Jr., Carol McAvoy, Brenda Lee, Doug Feaster, Dale Feaster, Duane Feaster, Kimberly Feaster, Robin Shugars, Denise McDonnell, Jimmy Marple, David Marple, Donald Marple, Terry Marple, Tammy Marple, Jason Marple, Bill (Hony) Smiley, and Christa Smiley-Lytle; 33 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral service will be conducted at the Piedmont Church of God, Piedmont, Wednesday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Bill Trenum and the Rev. Ada Kittle officiating. A viewing will be held at the church Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Interment will be in the Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser, W.Va.
A beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother will surely be missed by her whole family. She was a very strong prayer-warrior who kept her family going with her love and great belief in God.
JESSE J. MARKLEY
CUMBERLAND - Jesse J. Markley, 59, of Cumberland, died Friday, Feb. 12, 1999, at Memorial Hospital.
Born Feb. 26, 1939, in Farmington, W.Va., he was the son of the late David F. and Emma F. (Bray) Markley. He was preceded in death by one sister, Freda D. Coffman; and one brother, David F. Markley Jr.
Mr. Markley was a brakeman at the CSX Corporation. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War.
Surviving are his wife, Joyce L. (Cook) Markley; five step-daughters, Denise Chandler and Frank Steinmetz, Marilyn Shook, Donna Nines and Joe Taylor, Lisa Shields and husband, Patrick, Angie Patrick and husband, Charles; 13 step-grandchildren, Kenneth Chandler, Samantha Steinmetz, Amy Shook, Shawn Shook, Joy Nines, Lavista Nines, Michael Nines, Christopher Shields, Matthew Shields, Jessica Durbin, Justin Durbin and Shana Patrick, all of Cumberland; two step-great-granddaughters, Kierra and Nikya Jesse; three sisters, Loretta Siebel and husband, Melvin, Jenetta Wilson, all of Cumberland, Ada Welch and husband, Edward, Ellicott City; two brothers, Delbert L. Markley Sr. and wife, Janette, James R. Markley and wife, Rita, all of Cumberland.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., on Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with Major Harvey Adams officiating.
Interment will be in the Maryland Veterans cemetery at Rocky Gap, Flintstone.
Military honors will be accorded by the Combined Veterans Honor Guard.
DIANE K. MAMICH
FROSTBURG - Diane K. (Cessna) Mamich, 40, of Frostburg, died Wednesday, June 30, 1999, in Sacred Heart Hospital.
She was born Nov. 12, 1958, in Frostburg.
She is predeceased by her maternal grandparents, Godfrey and Dorothy Stott, and paternal grandfather, Herbert Cessna Sr.
Diane graduated from Beall High School in 1976 and was employed at Unitel as a Customer Service Representative.
She is survived by her parents, Herbert "Buzz" and Delores (Stott) Cessna Jr.; husband, Thomas Mamich, Frostburg; a daughter, Andrea Mamich, Frostburg; a sister, Vickie Mazer and husband, Barry, Frostburg; niece, Jordin Mazer, Frostburg; and her paternal grandmother, Edith Cessna, Cumberland.
Friends will be received in the Hafer Chapel of the Hills Mortuary, 1302 National Highway, LaVale, on Friday from 6:30 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Fr. Fred Cutajar officiating.
Interment will follow in St. Ann's R.C. Cemetery, Grantsville.

SYLVIA M. MALONE
CUMBERLAND - Sylvia Marie Malone, 73, of Cumberland, died Friday, Feb. 5, 1999, at Memorial Hospital.
Born March 19, 1925, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Coyle W. and Lucinda P. (McMillan) O'Neal. She also was preceded in death by her husband, James W. "Bud" Malone; three brothers, William, Joseph and Ronald O'Neal; and two sisters, Emma Canfield and Melissa P. "Pat" Gray.
Mrs. Malone was retired from the Bead Room at the Kelly-Springfield Tire Company. She was a graduate of Fort Hill High School, Class of 1943. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, the A.A.R.P., and the Golden Age Bowling League. She volunteered in the Tax Program and was an avid traveler and bowler.
Surviving are two brothers, Charles H. O'Neal, William H. O'Neal and wife, Norma; mother-in-law, Annie Malone, all of Cumberland; three sisters-in-law, JoAnn Malone, Winchester, Va., Anita Porter, Leesburg, Va., Mildred Malone, West Virginia; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Richard Jewell officiating.
Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Charles Gray Jr., Robert Gray and John Gray.
THOMAS JEFFERSON MALLOY
SAVAGE - Thomas Jefferson Malloy, 72, of Lincoln Street, Savage, died Tuesday, May 18, 1999, at the Laurel Regional Hospital.
Born on June 12, 1926, in Thomas, W.Va., he was the son of Guy and Freda Malloy. He was preceded in death by his father, Guy Malloy; his mother, Freda Malloy; and a sister, Mamie Crooner.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Etta Lashley Malloy; a daughter, Rhonda Smith and husband, Larry; two grandsons, Justin and Brady Smith; one sister, Edna Mueller, Fairview Park, Ohio; three brothers, Guy, Sun City, West Ariz., Edward, St. Cloud, Fla., and David, Baltimore.
At his request, the body was cremated.
A Memorial Service was held at the Savage United Methodist Church on Sunday, May 23, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Winfield Hall and the Rev. Clift Webner officiating.
Arrangements were made by the Fleck Funeral Home in Laurel.
LOUIS D. MAHEW
LAVALE - Louis D. "Don" Mahew, 88, of LaVale, died Tuesday, Oct. 12, 1999, at the Egle Nursing Home, Lonaconing.
Born Feb. 11, 1911, in Crystal City, Mo., he was the son of the late Frank E. and Ella (Davis) Mahew. He was also preceded in death by three brothers.
Mr. Mahew was retired from the Pittsburgh Plate Glass Company after 48 years of service. He attended Central Assembly of God Church and was an extensive traveler of America.
Surviving are his wife, Martha J. (Hart) Mahew; two sons, Don Mahew and wife, Mary Jeanne (Knieriem), LaVale, Frank T. Mahew and wife, Jean, Berlin; seven grandchildren, Linda K. Meckley, Cynthia Browning, Amy Sue Mahew, David D. Mahew, Lisa Gall, Adam T. Mahew, and Ehrin Mahew; four great-grandchildren, Robert, Andrew, Kelsey, and Brady; three sisters all of Mo.; and two brothers of Fla., and Mo.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home, Thursday at 1 p.m. with the Pastor Douglas Seaman, officiating.
Interment be in Sunset Memorial Park, Cumberland.
