GARVIN STEELE
LONACONING - Garvin Steele, 81, of 96 Douglas Ave., Lonaconing, died Tuesday, Dec. 21, 1999, at Memorial Hospital.
Born June 11, 1918, at Knootz Addition, Lonaconing, he was the son of the late Andrew Steele and Elizabeth (Todd) Steele. He was also preceded in death by six brothers and three sisters.
Mr. Steele was a member of First United Methodist Church, Lonaconing, he was a Scout Master, Leader of Troop 26 Boy Scouts of America, and a member of the Senior Citizens of Georges Creek, Lonaconing. He retired from Kelly Springfield, Cumberland, and was a veteran of the U.S. Army World War II.
Surviving are his wife, Matilda (Jenkins) Steele; five children, Sonja K. Thompson and husband, Paul, Vineland, N.J., Garvin Steele, Jr., and wife, Sherley, Severn, Pam Llewellyn and husband, Gary, Pekin, Jim Steele and wife, Margaret, Woodstock, Va., Robert and wife, Susan, Fort Drum, N.Y.; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Margaret Johnston, Leanora Steele, and Nova Steele, all of Lonaconing; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the Eichhorn-McKenzie Funeral Home, P.A., Lonaconing, Wednesday, Dec. 22, 1999, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be held at the First United Methodist Church, Lonaconing, Thursday, Dec. 23, 1999, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Richard Mortimore, officiating.
Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park.
The body will be taken to the church one hour prior to the service.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
RICHARD DAVID 'R.D.' TAYLOR
LAVALE - Richard David 'R.D.' Taylor, 63, of LaVale, died Tuesday, May 4, 1999, at Sacred Heart Hospital after a long battle with cancer.
Born March 27, 1936, in Lynn, Mass., he was the son of the late Millard D. and Virginia (Cummings) Taylor.
Mr. Taylor was a retired millwright for the Carpenters & Millwright Local #1024. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran during the Korean Conflict. He was Protestant by faith. He was a member of the Moose Lodge and the Covington, Va., Masonic Lodge #171.
Surviving are his wife, Jo Ellen (Fleckenstein) Taylor; one daughter, Mary Taylor, Brentwood, Calif.; one stepson Kenneth E. Keller Jr.; six grandchildren, Brian, Danielle, Fred Jr. and Michael Breining, Kenneth E. Keller III, and Trey Jacob Keller; one sister, Marilyn Harrington and husband, Peter, Sterling, Va.; three sisters-in-law, Janice Long, LaVale, Peggy Clayton and husband, Michael, North Port, Fla., Lou Ann Fleckenstein and husband and very special brother-in-law, Michael Jangali, Bowie; and brother-in-law, William 'Bill' Fleckenstein and wife, Linda, Portsmouth, N.H.
Friends will be received at Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Masonic service will be conducted by the Ohr Lodge, Thursday at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home Friday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Wayne R. Turner officiating.
Interment will be in the Maryland Veterans cemetery at Rocky Gap. Graveside military honors will be accorded by the Combined Veterans Honor Guard.
Pallbearers will be Bucky Whiteman, Kenneth E. Keller Jr., Kenneth E. Keller III, James Wright, Eddie Hartman, Bob Twigg and Glen Miltenberger.
DANIEL L. WHITE, SR.
OAKLAND - Daniel Lester White, Sr., 87, of 842 Nest Lick Acres Rd., Oakland, died Tuesday, Nov. 9, 1999, at Garrett Memorial Hospital.
Born Nov. 12, 1911, near Deer Park, he was the son of the late George Alva White and Emily Grace (Harvey) White. He was also preceded in death by one son, Gerald Roger White; three brothers, Leon White, Roy White, Grant White; and one sister, Gertrude (White) Webster.
Mr. White was employed as Deputy Clerk of Court in Oakland, Garrett County, for 40 years, with the exception of the four years he served with the U.S. Army in the European Theater during World War II. He retired from his position with the Circuit Court in January 1977. He was a long standing member of the board of Commission on Aging in Garrett County, and also served as a representative for the Commission. He also served as a member of the board for the Garrett County Forest and Parks. Mr. White was a charter member of the Methodist Men's Club of Mountain Lake Park. As a member of the White United Methodist Church, where he attended, he served as Sunday School Superintendent and held various offices in the church over the years.
Surviving are his wife, Thelma M. (Steyer) White, Oakland; one daughter, Betty J. (White) VanSlycke and husband, John, Olney; two sons, Daniel L. White, Jr., and wife, Linda, Baltimore, George T. White, Sr., and wife, Regina, Oakland; seven grandchildren, Lisa VanSlycke, George T. White, Jr., Kellie (White) Misenheimer, Christina VanSlycke, Robin White, Rochelle White, Amy (White) Graham; and three great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, Oakland, Wednesday, Nov. 10, 1999, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the White United Methodist Church, Thursday, Nov. 11, 1999, at 11 a.m.
Interment will be at White Church Cemetery, Steyer.
SANDRA J. WILSON
SHELBY, Ohio - Sandra J. Dietz Wilson, 48, of 4476 Stiving Rd., Shelby, formerly a resident of Costa Mesa, Calif., died Monday, Nov. 8, 1999, following a lingering illness.
Born Aug. 8, 1951, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of Calvin and Alice (Robinette) Dietz, with whom she made her home in Shelby.
Ms. Wilson was a 1969 graduate of Shelby High School. She was employed with the Harbor Justice Center in New Port Beach, Calif., of 15 years and attended the Costa Mesa Calvary Church.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by one son, Dustin Wilson, of Bardstown, Ky.; one brother and sister-in-law, Calvin Charles and Connie Dietz, of Shelby; one sister and brother-in-law, Brenda and Richard Bowden, of Rocky Mount, N.C.; four nephews, Calvin and Andrew Dietz, and Kevin and Craig Bowden; her devoted friend, Craig Truman, of Irvine, Calif.; her aunts and uncles, Lois and Robert Cessna, Charles and Jessie Robinette, all of Wellersburg, Pa.
Friends may call the Barkdull Funeral Home, P.O. Box, 644, Shelby, Ohio, on Wednesday from 6 to 8:30 p.m.
A Memorial Service will be held at the funeral home, on Wednesday at 8:30 p.m. with the Rev. Lester Champer of the Church of the Nazarene, officiating.

HARRY B. TWIGG SR.
CUMBERLAND - Harry Blondel Twigg Sr., 77, of 432 Seymour St., Cumberland, died Sunday, June 6, 1999 at his home.
Born Oct. 26, 1921, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late James Claude Twigg and the late Martha Elizabeth (Turner) Twigg. He also was preceded by two brothers, James Claude Twigg Jr. and John Twigg; and a sister, Thelma Marie Buckley.
Mr. Twigg Sr. was retired from Queen City Brewing Co. He was a member of the Redmen Club and Fort Cumberland Post 13 American Legion. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and Korea.
Surviving are a wife, Phyllis Marcie (Stokes) Twigg, Cumberland; a son, Harry B. Twigg Jr. and special friend June Spicer, Cumberland; three daughters, Bonnie Miller and husband Frank, Pasadena, Donna Boggs and husband Calvin, Oldtown, and Judy Boggs and husband Wayne, Oldtown; a sister, Jean Wagner and husband Daniel, McHenry; five grandsons, Shawn and Brandon Twigg, Cumberland, Wayne Boggs Jr. and fiancee Brenda, Owings Mills, James Boggs and wife Laura, Oldtown, and Frankie Miller, Pasadena; two granddaughters, Christi Bauer and husband Louis, Oldtown, and Amy Boggs, Oldtown; a great-grandson; and three great-granddaughters.
Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Tuesday from 9 to 10 a.m.
A memorial service will be conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Merdith Shryock officiating.
His cremated remains will be interred at Maryland State Veterans cemetery at Rocky Gap.
Military honors will be accorded at graveside by the Combined Veterans Honor Guard.
The family requests memorials be made to the American Heart Association or the Diabetes Foundation.
BESSIE G. YONKER
LITTLE ORLEANS - Bessie G. Yonker, age 88, of Stotlemyer Road, N.E., died Tuesday, June 15, 1999, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland.
Born Dec. 10, 1910, in Flintstone, she was the daughter of the late George Oliver and Elizabeth (Davis) Garland, and the widow of Delmer L. Yonker Sr., who died July 19, 1994.
She was a member of Piney Plains United Methodist Church, Little Orleans, and a member of the Ladies Aid of Piney Plains United Methodist Church.
She is survived by two sons, Delmer L. Yonker Jr., Little Orleans, and Edward Allan Yonker, Mountain View, Ark.; four grandchildren; one step-grandchild; five great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by three sisters, Catherine Vangrift, Amanda Duvall and Nettie Bodkin; one brother, Oliver Garland.
Services will be held on Friday, June 18, at 11 a.m. at the Piney Plains United Methodist Church. The Rev. W. Scott Summers will officiate.
Burial will be in the adjoining church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the Grove Funeral Home, 141 W. Main St., Hancock, on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and at the church one hour prior to the service. For the convenience of friends, the funeral home will be open on Thursday from 2 to 9 p.m.
