DOROTHY F. UMSTOT
WESTERNPORT - Dorothy Frances Umstot, 85, of 22510 Minnetonka Ave., Westernport, died Saturday, Feb. 20, 1999, at Potomac Valley Hospital, Keyser, W.Va.
Born Jan. 20, 1914, at Bloomington, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence A. and Mary Jane (Heatley) Elliott. She was also preceded in death by two husbands, Walter H. Grove, in 1950, and Arthur Umstot, in 1977; a daughter, Dorothy Jean Colvin; four brothers; and three sisters.

Mrs. Umstot was retired from Westvaco Corporation, and was a member of the Christ Memorial Baptist Church, Westernport.

She is survived by a brother, Lawrence C. Elliott and wife, Lorraine, Kitzmiller; three grandchildren, Mary Silva, Nancy Moore and Tim Colvin, all of California; and several great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Monday, Feb. 22, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday, Feb. 23, at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Steffan Carr officiating.

Interment will be in Bloomington Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Christ Memorial Baptist Church or to Tri-Towns Rescue Squad, both of Westernport.

ZERNIE A. VANMETER
FLINTSTONE - Zernie A. VanMeter, 76, of Flintstone, died Friday, July 2, 1999, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland.
Born June 26, 1923, in Petersburg, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late George and Lula (Nelson) Self. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Enoch L. VanMeter; three sisters, Mildred Mooney, Vernie Ash, Vicey Kimble; two brothers, Will Self, Raymond Self; and one grandson, Gregory Allen Pifer.

Mrs. VanMeter was a former owner and operator of VanMeter's Grocery in Flintstone, and was a member of Glendale Brethren Church.

Surviving are three daughters, Hazel M. Ryan and husband, William, Flintstone, Doris Tippens, Woodstock, Ga., Janet Mallow, Cumberland; one son, George A. Fogle and wife, Julia, Clearville, Pa.; four brothers, Alvin Self, Earl Self, both of Flintstone, Jonas Self, Cletus Self, both of Cumberland; 16 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday at 1 p.m. with Pastor Richard Ketterman officiating.

Interment will be in Glendale Cemetery.

ELOISE P. SHIPLEY
CUMBERLAND - Eloise Pearl (Payne) Shipley, 87, formerly of South Cumberland, died Tuesday, March 23, 1999, at the Allegany County Nursing Home.
She was born Aug. 7, 1911, in Cumberland. She was preceded in death by her husband, William O. Shipley. She was also preceded n death by one son, Robert Joseph Shipley; one sister; three brothers; and one grandson.

Mrs. Shipley was a homemaker and a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.

Surviving are one son, William O. Shipley and wife, Mary Jane, North Myrtle Beach, S.C.; two grandsons, Dirk Shipley, Robert Shipley, both of Cumberland; and two great-grandchildren, Steven Shipley and Kaytlyn Shipley.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Thursday at 9:30 a.m. with the Rev. Thomas R. Bevan officiating.

Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.

ERVIN YUTZY
SWANTON - Ervin "Ivan" Yutzy, of 1211 Dry Run Road, Swanton, died Thursday, Aug. 12, 1999 at Garrett County Memorial Hospital, Oakland.
Born in Frostburg, he was the son of the late Elmer and Emma (Baker) Yutzy.

Mr. Yutzy had been employed as a truck driver for Fike's Vault Co. and also at the Somerset Foundry, Diehl's Exxon Station and Clapper's Building Supply Co.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict and served on board the USS Enterprise, Air Craft Carrier.

Survivors include his wife, Agnes Viola (McKenzie) Yutzy; three sons, Ivan Julius Yutzy, Somerset, Pa., Thomas Yutzy, Fla., and Gerald Keith Yutzy, Grantsville; two brothers, Cobey Yutzy, Frostburg, and Harold Yutzy, Mount Savage; two sisters, Mae Margaret Hoover, Frostburg, and Rosella Lottig, Philadelphia, Pa. and six grandchildren, Jessica Lee Yutzy, Gerald Keith Yutzy, Jr., Justin Sweitzer, Joseph Yutzy, Kiana Yutzy and Chelsea Yutzy.

Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., Grantsville on Saturday and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be conducted in the funeral home Monday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Duane Frederick officiating.

Interment will be in the Meadow Mountain Mennonite Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be directed in care of the family.

H. REX TEAGARDEN
OAKLAND - H. Rex Teagarden, age 72, of 214 N. Tenth St., Oakland, died on Saturday, July 3, at his home.
He was born May 16, 1927, in Wheeling, W.Va., and was a son of the late Harold O. Teagarden and Mabel (Morgan) Teagarden.

Mr. Teagarden retired from the Garrett National Bank with 32 years' service and served as vice president and cashier. He was then employed by Garrettland Realty for 12 years. Mr. Teagarden was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, a member of the Mountain Lake Independent Baptist Church, a graduate of the University of Wisconsin School for Bank Administration, and the International Bible Memory Association. He was also a member of the American Red Cross and was a 12-gallon blood donor, a member of Oakland Lodge #192 A.F. & A.M., and was one of the founding members of the Southern Garrett Rescue Squad, where he served for 11 years.

He is survived by his wife, Sue (Filsinger) Teagarden; one son, Sherwin R. Teagarden, Oakland; three daughters, Sharon A. Watson, York, Pa., Lisa L. Durst, Swanton, and Lori A. Maffett, Lynchburg, Va.; two brothers, Kenneth Teagarden, Parsons, W.Va., and Donald Teagarden, Mountain Lake Park; two sisters, Evelyn Biser, Oakland, and Bonita Snyder, Mountain Lake Park; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Friends were received at the Durst Funeral Home, Oakland.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Mountain Lake Independent Baptist Church, Tuesday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Dennis Leatherman officiating.

Interment will be in the Oakland Cemetery.

Friends may call at the church one-half hour prior to the services.

Military honors will be accorded at graveside by various local veterans organizations.

The family requests memorials be directed to Hospice of Garrett County.

MARGARET V. WARREN
FAIRBORN, Ohio - Margaret Virginia (Wallizer) Taylor Walker Warren, 67, of Fairborn, formerly of Flintstone, Md., died Monday, Jan. 4, 1999, at the USAF Medical Center, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.
She was born Oct. 8, 1931, in Allegany County, Md., and was the daughter of the late Joseph Lee and Edna Marie (Weimer) Wallizer.

She was a graduate of Sinclair College and was the Dietary Coordinator at Maria Joseph Care Center, Fairborn.

She is survived by her husband, Charles 'Cliff' Warren; three sons, James Taylor and wife, Alice, Berlin, Pa., Edward Walker and wife, Julie, Meyersdale, Pa., and Jonathan Walker and wife, Marie, Fairborn; two daughters, Barbara Naill and husband, Richard, Spring Valley, and Susan Walker, Fairborn; one stepson, John 'Jack' Warren; two stepdaughters, Judith Johnson and Janis Brenneman; four brothers, Joseph Wallizer, Flintstone, Donald Wallizer and wife, Doris, Flintstone, Russell Wallizer and wife, Janet, Springfield, W.Va., Vernon Wallizer and wife, June, Manassas, Va.; two sisters, Helen Stotler and husband, Charles, Flintstone, and Carol Deihl, Clear Springs, Md.; 17 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held on Jan. 8, 1999.

Burial was in Fairfield Cemetery, Fairborn.

DAVID M. WATSON
FROSTBURG - David Mitchel Watson, 76, of 11101 Welsh Hill, Frostburg, died Saturday, June 26, 1999, at Memorial Hospital.
Born July 2, 1922, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late C. Glenn Watson and the late Ethel Mae (Swauger) Watson. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Onolee Louise Watson, in 1985.

Mr. Watson was the owner of the Watson Agency on Virginia Avenue. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, the Methodist Men of Trinity United Methodist Church, the Cumberland Lions Club, Fort Cumberland Post #13 American Legion, Henry Hart Post #1411 VFW, and the South Cumberland Business and Civic Association. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II.

Surviving are his wife, Eleanor H. Watson, Frostburg; two daughters, Diane K. McMillan and husband, Fred, LaVale, Sharon L. Rowan and husband, Robert, Cumberland; a sister, Betty Alkire, Cumberland; four grandchildren, Christina McMillan, Shawn McMillan, Adam McCoy and Justin McCoy; and two special nieces, Leslie Stevens, Cumberland, and Nancy Theriault, New York.

Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted on Monday at 1 p.m. at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., with the Rev. James L. McMahan officiating.

Interment will be in Hillcrest Burial Park.
