MINNIE K. WESLOW
FROSTBURG - Minnie K. Weslow, 88, a resident of the Egle Nursing Home, formerly of New Hope Road, Frostburg, died Sunday, April 25, 1999, in Memorial Hospital.
She was born on Aug. 23, 1910, in Maysville,W.Va., the daughter of the late George and Amanda (VanMeter) Ketterman. She was preceded in death by her husband, John K. Weslow, on Feb. 9, 1992.
Mrs. Weslow was a member of the Frostburg Church of the Nazarene.
Surviving are two sons, John O. Weslow, Severn, Md., and G. Edison Weslow, Huntington, Md.; a daughter, Dolores B. Poland, Keyser, W.Va.; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Gladys Jones, Nashville, Tenn., and Helen Neat, Pittsburgh, Pa.; and a brother, Curtis Ketterman, Frostburg.
Friends will be received in the Hafer Frost Mansion Funeral Home, 58 Frost Ave., Frostburg, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted in the funeral home chapel on Wednesday, April 28, 1999, at 1 p.m. with Pastor Jack R. Pease officiating.
Interment will follow in Frostburg Memorial Park.
Contributions may be made to the Egle Nursing Home in memory of Minnie Weslow.
Pallbearers will be grandsons.
ANNA M. ROBERTSON
SHAFT - Anna Margaret Robertson, age 76, of 19033 Brick Row Road, Frostburg, died Friday, March 12, 1999, at Washington County Hospital, Hagerstown.
Born July 18, 1922, in Shaft, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Clara (Winebrenner) Tippen. She was also preceded in death by three brothers and was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Mrs. Robertson was a graduate of St. Michael's School, Beall High and Catherman's Business School. She was retired from H.U.D., having worked at Meshach Frost Village. She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, Frostburg, The Sodality, and the Catholic Daughters of America, the Midland Democrat Club, and was a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Shaft Volunteer Fire Department.
Surviving are her husband of 52 years, Don R. Robertson.
Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, P.A., 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Prayers for the departed will be recited at the funeral home on Tuesday at 8:30p.m. by the Rev. Fr. William Moody.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Michael's on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Fr. Paul Byrnes as celebrant.
Interment will be in the Parish cemetery.
HELEN C. WINKLER
CRESAPTOWN - Helen Cecil Winkler, 80, of Cresaptown, died Thursday, March 18, 1999, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born July 12, 1918, in Cresaptown, she was the daughter of the late Bernard and Mary (Hite) Cecil. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Martin D. Cuff; one daughter, Mary Frances Cuff; and four brothers, Homer, Joseph, Richard and Leo Cecil.
Mrs. Winkler was the former co-owner of Cuffy's Corner, Cresaptown. She was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Cresaptown, and the McCoole V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary.
Surviving are her second husband, James R. Winkler; one daughter, Paula O'Brien and husband, Michael, Romney, W.Va.; three step daughters, Mary Paton and husband, Hugh, Westernport, Norma Porter and husband, John, Barton, Sandra Rizer and husband, Roger, Potomac Park; one step son, James W. Winkler and wife, Sheena, Westernport; a brother, Carl Cecil, Batesville, Mo.; two granddaughters, Christa Daskal, Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Erin Daskal-Meerzaman and husband, Daoud, Alexandria, Va.; 13 step grandchildren; and 17 step great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., Cresaptown, on Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. A Christian Wake will be conducted on Sunday at 8:45 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Ambrose Catholic Church on Monday at 10 a.m. with Fr. Reginald Russo, O.F.M., Cap. as celebrant.
Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park, Cumberland.
ROBERT C. STONESIFER
CUMBERLAND - Robert Charles Stonesifer, 80, of Cumberland, died Sunday, Feb. 21, 1999, at the Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland, after an extended illness.
Born May 31, 1918, in Carroll County, he was the son of the late Charles I. and Harriet Tressler Stonesifer. He was the husband of Mary Iona Stonesifer.
He was a superintendent at Shriver's Canning Factory for many years and was also a salesman and carpenter. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a pilot during World War II and was a member of American Legion Carroll Post #31, Frederick Amvets Post #2, and the Frederick Moose Lodge #371.
Surviving besides his wife are two daughters, Donna Lou Hargett, Frederick, and Connie Mae Thibodeaux, South Pasadena, Fla.; one step daughter, Mary Jane Allen, Cumberland; brother and sister-in-law, J. Richard 'Dick' and Marie Stonesifer, Naples, Fla.; devoted friend, James Frazier, Cumberland; and son-in-law, Lionel Thibodeaux. He is also survived by four grandchildren; two step grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his brother, Lewis D. Stonesifer.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the Fletcher Funeral Home, 254 E. Main St., Westminster, Md., with the Rev. Dr. Frederick P. Eckhardt officiating.
Interment will be in Pipe Creek Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 6 to 9 p.m.
CAROLYN A. ROBERTSON
CUMBERLAND - Carolyn A. Robertson, 53, of Bel Air, Cumberland, formerly of Cresaptown, died Saturday, March 13, 1999, at the Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born in Cumberland on Dec. 21, 1945, she was the daughter of Eleanor (Skelley) Hivick Bridges, Cresaptown, and the late Merl N. Hivick. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
A homemaker, Mrs. Robertson was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Cresaptown.
She is survived by her husband, William J. Robertson Jr.; two daughters, Maria M. Barclay and husband, Tim, Cresaptown, and Melanie M. Robertson and fiance, Eugene 'Skeeter" George Jr., Cresaptown; a brother, Carl P. Ryan Jr. and wife, Rhonda, Cumberland; a sister, Rita M. Woodward, Cresaptown; two special and adorable grandchildren, Kody J. Barclay and Alexis N. George; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Margaret Driver Robertson and William J. Robertson Sr., Cumberland; a brother-in-law, Robert J. Robertson and wife, Susan, Hagerstown; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., Cresaptown, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. There will be a Christian Wake conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday at 8:45 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Ambrose Catholic Church with the Rev. Reginald Russo, O.F.M., Cap. as celebrant. At Mrs. Robertson's request, she will be cremated.
Contributions may be made in honor of Mrs.Robertson to The Arthritis Foundation or to St. Ambrose Catholic Church.
JOHN N. STEVENSON SR.
FROSTBURG - John H. 'Johnny' Stevenson Sr., 89, of Frostburg, died Thursday, Jan. 21, 1999, at home.
Born Jan. 13, 1910, in Fairmont, W.Va., and raised in Lonaconing, he was the son of the late John H. Stevenson and Mary (Anderson) Stevenson Scott. He also was preceded in death by his sister, Willa Scott Furey.
Mr. Stevenson was employed by the Celanese Fibers Corp. for 32 years and was a member of the Frostburg United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Annie (Athey) Stevenson; one son, John H. 'Jack' Stevenson Jr. and wife Barbara, York, Pa.; two daughters, Shirley Owens and husband Jack, Silver Spring, and Mary Lynn Pegg and husband William, Frostburg; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one brother, Robert Scott, Lonaconing; and two sisters, Novella Duncan, Frostburg, and Eileen Lashbaugh, Lonaconing.
Friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral Home, P.A., 60 W. Main St., Frostburg, on Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Sunday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. George A. Aist officiating.
Interment will be in Frostburg Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Jim Duncan, Robert Furey, Marshall Hadley, Harold Lashbaugh, Bill Lashbaugh and John Stevenson III.
