CLEAMON W. YOMMER
GRANTSVILLE - Cleamon W. Yommer, 89, of 10827 National Pike, Grantsville, died Wednesday, April 21, 1999, at Goodwill Mennonite Home, Grantsville.
Born Feb. 22, 1910, in Somerset County, Pa., he was a son of the late Henry and Annie (Handwerk) Yommer. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Freda (Hershberger) Yommer, Dec. 20, 1979; a brother, Alvin; and two sisters, Alta Bowman and Edith Yommer.
Mr. Yommer was a member of Springs Mennonite Church. He was a retired laborer for Country Belle and Hagan Cremories, Grantsville, a janitor for Casselman Motor Company, and also was a farmer.
Survivors include a son, C. Edward Yommer and wife, Viola, Accident; a sister, Beulah Saler, Berlin, Pa.; two granddaughters, Karen M. Palmer and husband, Monte, and Sheri L. Yommer-Sechler and husband, Scott; and a great-grandson, Christian Sechler.
Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., Grantsville, on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted on Friday at 2 p.m. in the Springs Mennonite Church, Springs, Pa., with the Rev. Steven Heatwole officiating.
Interment will be in the Grantsville Cemetery.
Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the services.
JAMES H. SPEICHER, SR.
MCHENRY - James Hubert Speicher, Sr., 54, of 1028 Pysell Road, McHenry, died Monday, Sept. 27, 1999, at Memorial Hospital.
Born Aug. 3, 1945, in Grantsville, he was the son of Hubert Spiker, Grantsville, and the late Virginia (Durst) Spiker. He was also preceded in death by a son, David.
Mr. Speicher was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam Conflict and was a member of Grantsville Post 214, American Legion and Casselman Valley Sportsmen's Club, Grantsville. He had been employed in the maintenance department at Garrett Community College for 18 years.
In addition to his father, he is survived by his wife, Verna Elizabeth (Butler) Speicher; two sons, James Hubert Speicher, Jr., and Jason Ray Speicher; a daughter, Nellie Teresa Sue Speicher, all of McHenry; a granddaughter, Tiffany Marie Murdock; seven brothers, John David Durst, Frostburg, William H. Spicher, Joseph Spiker, Terry "Butch" Spiker, and Robert Spiker, all of Grantsville, Raymond R. Spiker, Crellin, Md., Gary W. Spiker, Meyersdale, Pa.; and a sister, Judy Uphold, Grantsville.
Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., McHenry, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted in the funeral home on Thursday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Ross Glotfelty, officiating.
Interment will be in the Durst Cemetery, Grantsville.
OPAL L. SIMPSON
CUMBERLAND - Opal Lura Simpson, 91, of Bedford St., Cumberland, died Wednesday, Dec. 22, 1999, at Devlin Manor Nursing Home, Cumberland.
Born Dec. 14, 1908, in Mountain Grove, Va., she was the daughter of the late George Washington and Margaret Rachel (Ramsey) Ryder. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Frank T. Simpson, in 1980.
Mrs. Simpson was a former school teacher for the Allegany County Board of Education, and she also formerly taught in Mineral County, W.Va., and Bath County, Va. She was also a member of the Emmanuel Bethel United Methodist Church, Cumberland.
Surviving are one daughter, Nancy L. Simpson, Cumberland; one sister, Pat Cundiff, Landensburg, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, P.A., 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, on Sunday, Dec. 26, 1999, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday, Dec. 27, at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Mildred C. Martin, officiating.
Interment will be in the Dawson Cemetery, Rawlings. Family and friends are invited to a reception/luncheon at the church following the interment.
HARRY ALBERT "ROBBIE" ROBERTSON
CUMBERLAND - Harry Albert "Robbie" Robertson, 86, of Lions Manor Nursing Home, formerly of Cunningham Drive, Glen Oaks, Cumberland, died Monday, May 24, 1999, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland.
Born May 24, 1913, in Greenridge, he was the son of the late Rolley E. and Annie P. (Layton) Robertson. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Arbutus (Piper) Robertson; one son, Harry William Robertson; two brothers; and one sister.
Mr. Robertson was the owner/operator of Robbie's Truck Service, Corriganville.
Surviving are two sons, Robert Clyde Robertson and wife, Deborah, William Carl Robertson, all of Glen Oaks, Cumberland; four daughters, Mary Louise Oster, Corriganville, Betty Jane Redden and husband, George, Staunton, Va., Barbara Jean Pfister and husband, Lester, Fort Worth, Texas, Patricia Ann Marks, Short Gap, W.Va.; one daughter-in-law, Shirley Mae Robertson, Corriganville; 20 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., Cresaptown, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Thursday at 1 p.m. with Pastor David Diehl officiating.
Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens, LaVale.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Richard A. Robertson, Michael A. Robertson, Robert C. Robertson, Harry William Robertson Jr., Miles A. Orndorff and Robert C. Robertson Jr.
MAURICE F. WHITCOMB
CUMBERLAND - Maurice F. Whitcomb, 78, of North Cresap Street, Cumberland, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 18, 1999, in the Allegany County Nursing Home.
Born on Sept. 9, 1920, in Boston, Mass., he was the son of the late Maurice Pillsbury Whitcomb and Gladys (Janes) Day.
Maurice had worked and retired from Allegany Ballistics Laboratory as a contract estimater. He was Methodist by faith, a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, a Purple Heart recipient, and a member of Cumberland D.A.V.
Surviving are his wife, Dorothy M. (Patterson) Whitcomb; a son, Nelson Whitcomb, Rochester, N.Y.; four daughters, Janice Senzig, Hope, N.J., Elaine Gearl, Oakridge, N.J., Gail Tomlin, Boca Raton, Fla., and Karen Dawson, Rawlings; nine grandchildren; one great-grandson; a half-sister, Betty Lamborn, Wilmington, Del.; and a half-brother, Maurice Pillsbury Whitcomb, Louisiana.
At Mr. Whitcomb's request his body was cremated.
Memorial services will be conducted in the Hafer Chapel of the Hills Mortuary, 1302 National Highway, on Saturday, March 20, 1999, at 4 p.m.

OSCAR S. WILSON
CUMBERLAND - Oscar Scott Wilson, 94, of 13819 Valley Road, NE, Cumberland, residing at the Lions Manor Nursing Home, died Monday, June 28, 1999, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born June 15, 1905, in Oldtown, he was the son of the late Emory Wilson and the late Dorleskia (Athey) Wilson. He also was preceded in death by his wife, Reta Virginia (Bartlett) Wilson, on Dec. 7, 1985. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Mr. Wilson was retired from Wilson-Pugh Hardware. He was a member of the Cornerstone Baptist Church.
Surviving are two sons, Dennis S. Wilson and wife Rita, Belleville, Ill., and Roger J. Wilson, Pinto; a daughter, Deirdre J. Boone and husband Melvin, Camp Hill, Pa.; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m.
Friends also will be received at the Cornerstone Baptist Church on Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m.
Services will be conducted at the church on Thursday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Daren Ritchie officiating.
Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
