RALPH E. WOOD
PINTO - Ralph E. Wood, 55, of 16125 McMullen Highway, Pinto, died Saturday, Nov. 20, 1999, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland.
Born April 2, 1944, in Washington, D.C., he was the son of Imogene R. (Whitcomb) Wood of Washington, and the late James J. Wood.
Mr. Wood was a self-employed general contractor and was a member of Aerie #2883, Cresaptown Eagles Club.
In addition to his mother, surviving are his wife, Sandra K. (Everett) Wood; four sons, Richard E. Wood, Berkeley Springs, W.Va., Ronald L. Wood, Inwood, W.Va., Rodney E. Wood, Winchester, Va., and Jason E. Wood, Globe, Ariz.; two daughters, Rebecca L. Durbin, Pinto, and Stacy L. Boswell, Globe, Ariz.; one brother, Ernest J. Wood, Evansville, Ind.; two sisters, Dale Henry, Spencer, Tenn., and Carolyn Fogle, Front Royal, Va.; six grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser, W.Va., on Tuesday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. with the Rev. Vivan Watts officiating.
Interment will be in the Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser.
MARGARET D.WORKMEISTER
CUMBERLAND - Margaret D. Workmeister, of The Chateau, White Avenue, died Thursday, Feb. 4, 1999, at the Western Maryland Health System's Memorial Campus.
Born May 9, 1908, in Piedmont, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Herbert A. Dye and Elizabeth (Barnard) Dye. She also was preceded in death by her husband, John F. Workmeister Sr., in 1996; two brothers, Herbert A. Dye and T. Cas Dye; a sister, Ella D. Hanley; and one granddaughter, Margaret Elizabeth "Molly" Workmeister.
Mrs. Workmeister was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church. She enjoyed her membership in the Allegany County Bird Club and the Maryland Ornithology Society.
Surviving are two sons, John F. Workmeister Jr. and wife Judith, and Lynn H. Workmeister and wife Jane, all of Cumberland; three grandchildren, J. Timothy Workmeister and wife Ann, Cumberland, Robert R. Workmeister and wife Kari, Portland, Ore., and Kathryn M. Workmeister and fiance, Jim Shearon, Pittsburgh; and three great-grandchildren, Jack, Catherine and Abigail Workmeister, Cumberland.
Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, P.A., 202 Greene St., Cumberland, on Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m.
The funeral service will be held at the funeral home Monday, Feb. 8, 1999, at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Stephen Yelovich officiating.
Interment will be in Hillcrest Burial Park.
Serving as pallbearers will be James C. Bauer, C. Fred Hill, Dennis E. Perrin, Joseph A. Yockus, Robert S. Paye and the Hon. J. Frederick Sharer.

JOHN J. RORICK
CUMBERLAND - John "Jack" Joseph Rorick, 88, of Cumberland, died Wednesday, Sept. 1, 1999, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born May 23, 1911, in Scranton, Pa., he was the son of the late Jacob J. and Anna (McGuire) Rorick. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Elizabeth M. (Coby) Rorick, and his daughter, Wanita (Rorick) Campbell.
Mr. Rorick had over 44 years of service with the Celanese Corporation, where he had been a supervisor.
He was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church; Past Grand Knight, Council 586, Knights of Columbus; 4th. Degree, Chief Justice Taney Assembly; Past Grand Commander, Wamba Caravan 89, Order of Alhambra; Dapper Dan Club; St. Vincent DePaul Society; and life member of the Cumberland Outdoor Club. He was also one of the founding members and treasurer of the Interfaith Community Pantry.
Survivors include his wife, Sarah Marie (Trozzo) Rorick; five grandchildren, Nancy Goss and husband Paul; Judy McMahon and husband Dennis; Peggy Humbertson and husband George; Cynthia Keefer, and Michael Campbell; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Theodore Rorick; two step children, Mary Lou Dawson and husband Raymond; Joe Kelley and wife Mary; five step-grandchildren, and three step-great- grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, P.A., 202 Greene St., Cumberland on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Wamba Caravan 89, Order of Alhambra will conduct a memorial service at the funeral home on Friday at 7:30 p.m. Council 586, Knights of Columbus will follow with a service at 8 p.m. The Christian Wake service will be held at 8:45 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church on Saturday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Vance Pastorius, OFM, Cap., as celebrant.
The 4th Degree Color Corps will attend the Funeral Mass.
Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.

EDITH L. SPATARO
MORANTOWN - Edith Louise Spataro, 85, formerly of Morantown, died Thursday, May 20, 1999, at Sacred Heart Hospital. She had been residing with her daughter, Mary Louise Burkett, on Cash Valley Road.
Surviving are two sons, Patrick Thomas 'Sonny' Spataro and wife Dorothy, Baltimore, and Albert Dale 'Buddy' Spataro and wife Rose, Morantown; three daughters, Norma Riley, Mount Savage, Darlene Walters and husband Richard, Mount Savage, and Mary Louise Burkett and husband Robert, Cash Valley Road; one son-in-law, James T. Williams, LaVale; 19 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, David Swauger and wife Myrtle, Mount Savage, and Leroy Swauger, Midlothian.
Friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral Home, P.A., 60 W. Main St., Frostburg, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Rick D. Riley, grandson, and Father William E. Moody officiating.
Interment will be in St. Michael's Cemetery.
RUSSELL M. ROSE
PENNKNOLL VILLAGE - Russell Milton "Skinner" Rose, 87, of Pennknoll Village, formerly of RD 3, Bedford, died Monday, Nov. 8, 1999, at the home.
Born June 15, 1912, in Cumberland Valley, he was the son of the late Harry and Lucy (Hook) Rose. He was also preceded in death by one infant daughter, Karen Rebecca; one son, Harry Sherwood Rose; six brothers, Merle, Sherman, Arthur, Vernon, William, and Oscar Rose; and five sisters, Grace Hite, Veda Imes, Leona Hoy, Dolly Oliver, and Carrie Rose.
Mr. Rose was married
on Nov. 23, 1932, to Mabel Isabella Frantz. He was a member of the Providence Lutheran Church, a charter member of the Rose Hunting Camp; and a member of the Cumberland Valley Senior Citizens. He retired in 1975 after 33 years as a Boiler maker for B&O; Railroad. He was a well known baseball pitcher for the Centerville Reds and belonged to several bowling leagues.
Surviving are his wife, Mabel Isabella Frantz; one son, Mervyn C. Rose and wife, Sue Houseworth, of Bedford; daughter-in-law, Lois, of Bedford; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and six step grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home, Bedford, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the Providence Lutheran Church on Thursday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. David Wright, officiating.
Burial will be in the Union Cemetery, Centerville.
REV. ELMER T. SPRINKLE
KNIGHTDALE, N.C. - The Reverend Elmer Thomas Sprinkle, 81, died Saturday, Nov. 13, 1999, at Raleigh Community Hospital.
A retired United Methodist Minister, he was born Dec. 31, 1917, in Hampstead, Md. Rev. Sprinkle received his license to preach on June 1, 1952, serving at Gills United Methodist Church in Baltimore County. He served the Shiloh-Dover United Methodist churches, in the Hampstead area, for over 20 years until moving to serve the Calvary United Methodist Church in Ridgeley, W.Va., in 1976. He served at Calvary until his retirement in 1984. Rev. Sprinkle and his wife remained in Ridgeley until February 1997, when they moved to Knightdale to be closer to their son and his family.
Surviving are his wife, Anna M. Sprinkle; one son, Tom Sprinkle and wife Pat, Knightdale; two grandsons, Skip Sprinkle, Raleigh, and Todd Sprinkle, Knightdale; one granddaughter, Cissie Gay and husband Lynn, Arden; one sister, Katherine S. Walter and husband Charles, Hampstead, Md.; one brother, Robert "Bob" Sprinkle and wife Betty, Hampstead; and one sister-in-law, Belle G. Sprinkle, formerly of Hampstead.
Preceding Rev. Sprinkle in death were two brothers, John Sprinkle and Charles Sprinkle; one sister-in-law, Goldie Sprinkle; two sisters, Margaret Sprinkle and Ethel S. Rhoten; and one brother-in-law, Howard Rhoten.
Family will receive relatives and friends at the Eline Funeral Home, 934 South Main St., Hampstead, Md., on Monday, Nov. 15, from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted there on Tuesday, Nov. 16, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Ed Ankeny officiating.
Burial will be in the Hampstead Cemetery.
