MARLENE M. SWARNER
CUMBERLAND - Marlene Marie Swarner, 65, of Bedford St., Cumberland, died Tuesday, Oct. 19, 1999, at Memorial Hospital.
Born on Feb. 7, 1934, at Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Frank Darrell Taylor and Edith Marie (Deremer) Taylor.
Mrs. Swarner was a member of the Ladies of the Moose Lodge 271.
Surviving are her husband, William D. Swarner; two sons, William D. "Rusty" Swarner and wife, Cindy, Cumberland, Marty Swarner and wife, Tracy, Frostburg; one daughter, Roxanne M. Frantz and husband, Jerry, Cumberland; five grandchildren, Jason L. Frantz, Arin C. Swarner, B.J. Swarner, all of Cumberland, Ashley M. Swarner and Courtney L. Swarner, both of Frostburg; one sister, Bettye D. McGee; one niece, Kathy Stedman, Haugton, LA.
Friends will be received at the Kight Funeral Home, 309-311 Decatur St., Cumberland, MD 21502, Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Kight Funeral Home, on Thursday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Robert E. Cook, officiating.
Interment will at the Restlawn Memorial Gardens, LaVale.
VINCENT D. SNYDER
CUMBERLAND - Vincent D. Snyder, 60, of Bowling Green, Cumberland, died Friday, Dec. 10, 1999, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born Jan. 19, 1939, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Frank C. and Agnes (Barnes) Snyder. He also was preceded in death by one brother, George D. Snyder; and a special friend, Derek Weber.
Mr. Snyder was a retired computer programmer for the Social Security Administration in Baltimore. After returning to Cumberland, he was employed at the Hercules Corporation, and the Frostburg Village Nursing Home. He was a 1957 graduate of Fort Hill High School, attended Maryland Institute of Art, was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church, and the Senior Citizens 500 Club.
Surviving are four sisters, Betty Hammond and husband Conley, Rita Owens, Josephine Frick, all of Cumberland, and Geraldine "Deenie" McNeill and husband Milton, Pineville, N.C.; four brothers, Albert "Fritz" Snyder, Oldtown, James Snyder and wife Irene, Odenton, Joseph Snyder, Cumberland, and Gerald Snyder and wife Evelyn, Baltimore; a special great-niece, LeAnna Owens, Cumberland; and several other nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., on Sunday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Christian Wake service will be held Sunday at 3:30 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary's Catholic Church on Monday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Milton A. Hipsley as celebrant.
Interment will be in the St. Mary's Cemetery.
MINNIE M. ROSS
FROSTBURG - Minnie Martha Ross, 70, a resident of Moran Manor Nursing Home, Westernport, formerly of 12207 Old Legislative Road, Frostburg, died Saturday, April 3, 1999, at Potomac Valley Hospital, Keyser.
Born Dec. 21, 1928, in Frostburg, she was a daughter of the late Webster Frost and Hazel (Crowe) Frost. She was a member of the Midlothian Assembly of God Church.
Surviving are her husband, John Frederick Ross, Frostburg Village Nursing Home, Frostburg; five children, Samuel Edward Ross, Cumberland, Catherine Anna Markle, Biglerville, Pa., Linda Mae Robertson, Frostburg, Willard Lee Ross, Frostburg, and Esther Kay Ross, Frostburg; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was the last of her immediate family.
Friends will be received at the Eichhorn-McKenzie Funeral Home, P.A., Lonaconing, Monday, April 5, 1999, from 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home Tuesday, April 6, 1999, at 10 a.m. with the Rev. George R. Loar officiating.
Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens, LaVale.
The family would like to thank the staff and caregivers at Moran Manor Nursing Home, and the Finan Center, for all the care given to Minnie.
DOROTHY S. THOMAS
CUMBERLAND - Dorothy S. Thomas, 74, of Oldtown Manor Apts., died Thursday, Oct. 28, 1999, at Memorial Hospital.
Born March 11, 1925, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late John T. and Mary G. (Masemore) Williams. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Walter M. Thomas, Sr., in 1986; one sister, Frances Tubbs; one brother, John Williams; and one grandson, Eric Thomas.
Mrs. Thomas was a retired nurse in the Intensive Care Unit at Memorial Hospital after 24 years of service.
Surviving are two daughters, Dorothy S. Wheeler, LaVale, Amy E. Thomas, Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; three sons, Walter M. Thomas, Jr., and wife, Shirley, Mechanicsville, John W. Thomas and wife, Jeanette, Centerville, Va., and Dale J. Thomas and wife, Karen, Cumberland; three brothers, David F. Williams, Cumberland, Carl Williams, Cumberland, and Owen Williams and wife, Mildred, Cumberland; one sister, Mary E. Dawson, Cumberland; ten grandchildren, Sabrina Thomas, Phoenix, AZ, Johnna Wilson and husband, Michael, Cumberland, Jeffrey Thomas and wife, Candyce, Bowie, Heather Wheeler, Joanna Wheeler, both of LaVale, Kristin Thomas, Centerville, Va., NiCole Thomas, Cumberland, Maria Thomas, Centerville, Vernon Grayson, Del., and Terri Lynn Grayson, Cumberland; and 11 great-grandchildren.

ANNA C. VASSALLO
CUMBERLAND - Anna Carmel Vassallo, 74, of Cumberland, died Saturday, Dec. 25, 1999, at her residence.
Born Jan. 23, 1925, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Anna (Rosingana) Vassallo. She also was preceded in death by three brothers, Felix, Charles and Anthony.
Mrs. Vassallo was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.
Surviving are one brother, Thomas J. Vassallo; two nephews; and one niece.
A private graveside service will be held at a later date at St. Mary's Parish Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church, Cumberland.

NANCY B. ROSS
KINGSPORT, Tenn. - Nancy Barnard Ross, 81, of 1300 Bloomingdale Pike, Kingsport, died early Sunday morning, Feb. 28, 1999, at Holston Valley Medical Center.
She was born in Uniontown, Pa., and moved to Kingsport a year and a half ago from Rock Hill, S.C., where she had lived for 36 years. She graduated from Allegany High School in Cumberland, Md., and from Frostburg State Teachers College in Frostburg, Md.
She was an associate member of First Broad Street United Methodist Church in Kingsport and a long-time member of St. John's United Methodist Church in Rock Hill, S.C., where she taught Sunday School and was a member of the choir and the handbell choir.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William T. Ross Sr., and her parents, George W. and Ethel Sevy Barnard.
Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Nancy Jo and Tom Brock, Kingsport; one son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Elizabeth Ross, Havertown, Pa.; one brother, George W. Barnard Jr., North East, Md.; four grandchildren, Beth Brock, Marc Brock, Sara Ross and Will Ross; one niece; and two nephews.

A second memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at St. John's United Methodist Church, Rock Hill, S.C., with the Rev. Tim McClendon and the Rev. Linda Dunn officiating. The family will receive friends at the church after the service.
