LEONA P. YEAGER
CUMBERLAND - Leona Pauline Yeager, 85, of 700 Fayette St., Cumberland, Md., died Saturday, June 5, 1999, at Memorial Hospital.
Born June 11, 1913, in Silver Lake, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Harvey Christman and the late Ora (Breedlove) Christman. She also was preceded by her husband, the late Frederick Lee Yeager Sr., on Feb. 20, 1983.
Mrs. Yeager was a retired employee of the Maryland State Employment Office. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, O.E.S. Cumberland Chapter, and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Railroad Unit at the Ali Ghan Shrine Club.
Surviving are a daughter, Frances Lee Cook and husband Edward, Mount Joy, Pa.; a son, Frederick L. Yeager Jr., Myrtle Beach, S.C.; two brothers, Clifton Christman, Lima, Ohio, and Louie Christman, Markleysburg, Pa.; five sisters, Vivian Ghost, Cumberland, Md., Bernice DiDio, Kingwood, W.Va., Barbara Tennyson, Chesapeake, Va., Betty Cottington, North Fork, Calif., and Opal Dean Jefferys, Elyria, Ohio; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., on Monday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Dr. Morton O. Harris Jr. officiating.
Pallbearers will be grandsons Edward Cook, Scott Cook and Wayde Yeager, grandsons-in-law Larry Burns and Bruce Gibson, and nephew Larry DiDio.
Interment will be in Rest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
BEULAH A. WHITFIELD
WESTERNPORT - Beulah A. Whitfield, 91, of 212 Maryland Avenue, Westernport, died Tuesday, Sept. 14, 1999, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland.
Born April 6, 1908, at Bethel, Md., she was the daughter of the late William and Mary (Herman) Virts. She also was preceded in death by two husbands, John Farris, in 1980, and Edward Whitfield, in 1988.
Mrs. Whitfield was a homemaker. She was Protestant by faith. She was a member of the Westernport Senior Citizens and enjoyed crocheting and loved flowers.
Surviving are three daughters, Louise Bray, Rawlings, Mary Sears, Piedmont, W.Va., and Betty Johnson, Westernport; a brother, William Virts Jr., Swanton; two sisters, Anita Goodwin, Swanton, and Louise Grove, Keyser, W.Va.; six grandchildren, Jack Sears, Westernport, Norman Bray and Richard Bray, both of Rawlings, Karen Kimble, Fountain, W.Va., Nancy Johnson, Keyser, and Judy Bray, Rawlings; and five great-grandchidlren, Pam Sears, Jennifer Sears, Jeremiah Kimble, Dustin Kimble and Amber Bray.
The family will receive friends at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Thursday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.
The funeral service will be conducted in the funeral home chapel on Friday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Eric Durden officiating.
Interment will be in Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser.
CHARLES V. ROWE JR.
HAGERSTOWN - Charles Victor Rowe Jr., 74, of 18437 Woodside Drive, Hagerstown, died Thursday, Oct. 14, 1999, at the Colton Villa Nursing Center.
Born on Jan. 21, 1925, in Williamsport, he was the son of the late Charles Victor and Mabel Shumaker Rowe Sr.
Mr. Rowe was a member of the Williamsport United Methodist Church. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Navy. He was a retired educator with the Washington County Board of Education teaching most of his career at North Hagerstown High School and Boonsboro High School. He also taught for several years with the Frederick County Board of Education. He was a member of the American Legion Post 202-Williamsport, Washington County Retired Teachers Association, the National Education Association, and former member and past president of the Washington County Teachers Association.
Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Elaine V. Stottlemyer Rowe; one daughter, Barbara E. Middlekauff, Greencastle, Pa.; two sons, Charles V. Rowe III and Andrew A. Rowe, both of Hagerstown; three sisters, Margaret Rhodes, Betty Harr and Rosalie Horchner, all of Williamsport; one brother, Homer Rowe, Sharpsburg; and two grandsons.
Friends will be received at the Bast Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro, on Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m.
Memorial services will be held there Monday at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Richard A. Kroll officiating.
Interment will be in the Mountain View Cemetery, Sharpsburg.

LOIS B. RUHE
MCHENRY - Lois B. Ruhe, 71, of McHenry and formerly of North Huntingdon, Pa., died Tuesday, May 18, at Garrett County Memorial Hospital, Oakland.
Born Feb. 14, 1928, in Wilkinsburg, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Morgan M. and Elsie M. (Eicher) Brumbaugh. She was preceded in death by her husband, Don Joseph Ruhe, Aug. 8, 1995.
Mrs. Ruhe was a member of Bethel United Presbyterian Church, North Huntingdon, and worked in retail sales prior to her retirement. She is survived by four sons, Paul J. Ruhe, Mobile, Ala., David M. Ruhe, Winter Springs, Fla., Dennis M. Ruhe, Somerset, Pa., Mark E. Ruhe, Barton; a daughter, Marcie L. Ruhe-Smith, Pittsburgh, Pa.; two brothers, Morgan Brumbaugh, Los Angeles, Calif., and Paul Brumbaugh, Pittsburgh; a sister, Janet Crawford, Cincinnati, Ohio; 10 granddaughters; and four great-grandsons.
Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 26722 Garrett Highway, McHenry, Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted in the funeral home on Saturday, May 22, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Roland E. Nairn III officiating.
Interment will be in Normalville Cemetery, Normalville, Pa.
Serving as pallbearers will be her four sons and two brothers.
KATHLEEN E. SUMMERS
CUMBERLAND - Kathleen Ellen Summers, 87, of Cumberland, died Wednesday, April 27, 1999, at Memorial Hospital.
Born April 17, 1912, in Three Churches, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Philip A. and Minnie M. (Brown) Lewis. She also was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Largent; two brothers, Melvin and John W. Lewis; half sister, Carrie Johns; and seven half brothers, Dayton, Edward, Shaw, Dale and Ira Lewis, and Keck and Arthur Brown.
Mrs. Summers was a homemaker and a member of Davis Memorial United Methodist Church.
Surviving are one sister, Abbie L. Zimmerman, Cumberland; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be conducted at the Davis Memorial cemetery on Saturday at 9 a.m. with the Rev. Theodore D. Higby officiating.

HELEN L. WALTERS
OLDTOWN - Helen Louise Walters, 74, of Oldtown, died Sunday, March 21, 1999, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland.
Born May 18, 1924, in Oldtown, she was the daughter of the late Russell and Carrie (Alderton) Crabtree. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Rose Lewis and Beulah Davis; and two brothers, Edward Crabtree and James Crabtree.
She was a member of the Oldtown Baptist Church.
Mrs. Walters was a former employee of the Celanese Corporation of Cumberland. She was a member of the Oldtown V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary and the Oldtown Volunteer Fire Department.
Surviving are her husband, Richard "Peck" Walters; one daughter, Peggy O'Brien and husband, Roger, Cumberland; one son, Nile R. Walters and wife, Ann, Oldtown; four sisters, Pauline Fox and husband, Emmett, Nellie Rader and husband, Melvin, Maxine Crabtree, all of Oldtown, Jo Ann Allen and husband, Gerald, Cumberland; two brothers, Russell Crabtree and wife, Juanita, Oldtown, Walter Crabtree, Martinsburg, W.Va.; three grandchildren, Sharon Hose and husband, Michael, Shaw Air Force Base, S.C., Jason Walters and wife, Patty, Oldtown, Travis O'Brien, Cumberland; four great-grandchildren, Tyler and Brett Hose, Korri and Haley Walters; and numerous nieces and nephews.
