CALVIN F. "BUNKER" RUMMER
CUMBERLAND - Calvin Francis "Bunker" Rummer, 67, of Cumberland, died Thursday, Jan. 7, 1999, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born July 29, 1931, in Cumberland, he was the son of Mary Louise (Jones) Rummer, Cumberland, and the late George W. Rummer. He was also preceded in death by one granddaughter, Michelle L. Dolly.
Mr. Rummer was a self-employed businessman. He owned Propst Service Station, was past manager of the Bowman's Addition Fire Hall, and he operated the South Cumberland Club. He was a member of the Redman Club #201, the Cumberland Eagles Aerie #245, and the Goodfellowship Club, where he was a lifetime member.
In addition to his mother, surviving are his wife, Esther L. (Puffinberger) Rummer; two daughters, Judy A. (Dolly) Oster and husband, Bryan, Cumberland, and Kim L. Ireland, British Columbia, Canada; one son, David W. Thomas and wife, April, Rudolph, Ohio; one sister, Norma Tokash, Cumberland; two brothers, George W. Rummer Jr., and James E. Rummer and wife, Lucy, all of Cumberland; 13 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Friends will be received at Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A memorial service will be conducted at the funeral home by the Improved Order of Redmen on Friday at 8 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Robert A. Hymes officiating.
Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens, LaVale.
G. VIRGINIA STEVENS
FROSTBURG - G. Virginia Stevens, 89, of 5 Jenkins St., Frostburg, died Monday, Aug. 30, 1999 at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland.
Born September 21, 1909, in Eckhart, she was the daughter of the late Arthur E. and Gertrude (Rephann) Wonn. She also was preceded in death by her first husband, Howard Mignot, and two brothers.
Mrs. Stevens retired in 1968 in Allegany County as a school teacher. She was a member of the Eckhart Methodist Church, Mt. Chapter 15 Order of the Eastern Star, and a Charter Member of the local chapter of the Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority.
Surviving are her husband, Clarence "Buddy" Stevens, Frostburg; a sister, Katherine Stevens, Frostburg; a nephew, Jay Stevens and wife Janet, Frostburg; and special grand niece and nephew twins, Tristan and Alex Stevens.
Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, P.A., 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. George Harpold officiating.
Interment will be in the Eckhart Cemetery.
GEORGE R. ZEMBOWER
CUMBERLAND - George Randall Zembower, 79, formerly of Bedford Valley, Pa., and 229 Baltimore Ave., Cumberland, passed away Saturday, Feb. 13, 1999, at Devlin Manor Nursing Home.
Born near Centerville, Pa., on Sept. 5, 1919, he was the son of the late Clark Randall Zembower and the late Vesta Rebecca (Mickey) Zembower.
Mr. Zembower learned to live with cerebral palsy and helped form several handicap groups. He attended Allegany Community College and was an author of two books. He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene on Oldtown Road, Cumberland.
He is survived by three sisters, Nora Elizabeth Snyder and husband, Elmer, West Mifflin, Pa., and twin sisters, Doris Jean Reeder and Donna Joan Martin and husband, Gaither, all of Rock Hill, S.C.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home by the Rev. Gary Barkley and Chaplain Lewis Twigg.
Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Centerville.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to: First Church of the Nazarene, the American Cancer Society, or to the Cerebral Palsy Foundation.
Pallbearers will be John Kimble, Ernie Kessell, Dave Ford, Mel Fletcher, Harold Knotts and Harold Jacobs. Honorary pallbearers will be Mervin Brenneman, Donald Brenneman, Ronald Brenneman, Raymond Yoder, Menno Yoder and Ken Tice.
MARGARET A. RUSH
ACCIDENT - Margaret Ann Rush, 100, of 101 Town View Drive, Accident, formerly of Friendsville, died Thursday, Dec. 31, 1998, at the Goodwill Mennonite Home, Grantsville.
Born April 7, 1898, in Hoyes, she was a daughter of the late Asa and Nancy (Fazenbaker) Friend. She also was preceded in death by her husband, James C. Rush, on Sept. 6, 1949; and a son, Dale.
Mrs. Rush was a member of Rush Baptist Church.
Surviving are a son, Deane Rush, Friendsville; three daughters, Carol Schroyer, Chambersburg, Pa., Elizabeth Thomas, Friendsville, and Kathleen Wentz, Accident; a brother, Hubert Friend, Friendsville; and a sister, Bernice Paugh, Deer Park; 16 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren.
Friends were received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., Friendsville, Friday, Jan. 1, 1999, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Donald Matthews officiating.
Interment will be in the Blooming Rose Cemetery.

CATHERINE D. "KATIE" RUSSELL
GILMORE - Catherine D. "Katie" Russell, 78, formerly of Gilmore, having been a resident of Frostburg Village Nursing Home, died Wednesday, June 16, 1999, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born Aug. 2, 1920, in Wrights Crossing, she was the daughter of the late Marshall and Alice (Carter) Lancaster. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James Russell, on March 29, 1998, after 56 years of marriage; and her brother, Edward "Butch" Lancaster.
She was a loving mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Mrs. Russell was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Midland, and Barton American Legion Auxiliary, Post #189.
Surviving are three daughters, Mary Ziler and husband, Irvin, National, Rita Fidler and husband, Ronald, Frostburg, and Jeanne Smith and husband, Ronald, Potomac Park; five grandchildren, Wayne Ziler and wife, Sherri, McCoole, Ronald Fidler Jr., Falling Waters, W.Va., Bobby Ziler, National, Marci Fidler, Frostburg, Dawn Noel Smith, Potomac Park; four great-grandchildren, David, Amanda and Lindsey Ziler, McCoole, Tara Ziler, Eckhart; three brothers, Thomas Lancaster, Swanton, Joseph Carter Lancaster and wife, Evelyn, Baltimore, Marshall "Leo" Lancaster, Frostburg; two sisters, Mary Hess, Frostburg and Dorothy Kerns, Vale Summit; and three sisters-in-law, Leona Rae, Midland, Alice Ashby and Margaret Metz, both of Barton. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Michael's Catholic Church on Friday at 11 a.m. with Father William Moody as celebrant.
Interment will be in Frostburg Memorial Park.

DOROTHY L. STEINMETZ
CUMBERLAND - Dorothy Lee Steinmetz, 68, of Cumberland, died Saturday, April 3, 1999, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland.
Born June 1, 1930, in Oldtown, she was the daughter of the late Newton and Edith (Teets) Bishop. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Ervin Steinmetz Jr.; one daughter, Elizabeth Elaine Andrews; three brothers, James, William and Charles Bishop; and one sister, Betty Flynn.
Mr. Steinmetz was an in-home nursing assistant for Allegany County.
Surviving are four sons, Arthur L. Steinmetz and wife Cindy, Cumberland, James Ervin (Steinmetz) Peer and wife Mary Ann, Ridgeley, W.Va., John L. Steinmetz and wife Carol, and Abner 'Curt' Steinmetz and wife Peggy, all of Cumberland; three daughters, Ruth R. Hunt and husband Mark, Tina M. Meisenhalder and Josephine D. White, all of Cumberland; two brothers, Abner Bishop and wife Dora, and Ronald Bishop and wife Linda, all of Cumberland; four sisters, Helen Porter and husband Jerry, Cumberland, Josephine Morris and husband James, Levels, W.Va., Blanche Butcher, Baltimore, and Charlotte Spencer and husband Dick, Cumberland; 18 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
