PHYLLIS N. RUSZALA
BALTIMORE - Phyllis Norma Wilson Ruszala, 73, of Baltimore, formerly of Lonaconing, died on Thursday, Jan. 7, 1999, at home.
Born Jan. 1. 1926, in Lonaconing, she was the beloved daughter of Viola B. Wilson, Frostburg.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Ruszala.
She is survived by four children, Janice Rae Alderton, Vincennes, Ind., Frank and Patrick Ruszala, Baltimore, Donna Southard, Bowie. She is also survived by three sisters, Shirley Zumpano, Frostburg, Marlene Puckett, Parma Heights, Ohio, Sharon Wilson, Midland; five brothers, William Wilson, Ohio, James Wilson, Cleveland, Ohio, Ronald Wilson, Frostburg, Keith Wilson, Parma Heights, Donald Wilson, San Francisco, Calif.; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Interment was at the St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Baltimore, on Monday, Jan. 11, 1999.
DOROTHY G. RYAN
CUMBERLAND - Dorothy Gean Ryan, 63, of Industrial Blvd., Cumberland, died Wednesday, Dec. 15, 1999, at the Memorial Hospital Hospice Unit.
Born Feb. 7, 1936, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Daniel Dahl and Ella (Collins) Dahl. She also was preceded in death by her former husband, the late Douglas G. Ryan Sr.; one brother, Dick Dahl; and one sister, Mildred Crites.
Mrs. Ryan was employed as a seamstress for G. & G. Manufacturing. She was a member of the Goodfellowship Club and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #245 Auxiliary.
Surviving are two sons, Douglas Gordon Ryan Jr., Ridgeley, W.Va., and Richard Gordon Ryan and friend Linda Smith, Cumberland; three brothers, Bud Dahl, Norman Dahl and Roger Dahl, all of Cumberland; three sisters, Doris Dahl, Calif., Nancy Swarner and Dee Herrell, both of Cumberland; seven grandchildren, Jason Ryan, Hyndman, Pa., Randi Ryan, Cumberland, Lorena Barnes and husband Gregory, Fort Ashby, W.Va., Tanya Ryan, Cumberland, Gena Ryan, Bret Ryan and Kayley Ryan, all of Ridgeley, W.Va.; and three great-grandchildren.
She will be sadly missed by her former brothers- and sisters-in law of the Ira Ryan family.
Mrs. Ryan requested that her remains be cremated.
The Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, will be in charge of arrangements.
The family requests that memorials be made to the Memorial Hospital Hospice Unit.
FLORENCE M. THARP
FROSTBURG - Florence M. Tharp, 70, of 29 McCulloh St., Frostburg, died Friday, April 16, 1999, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born June 3, 1928, in Grantsville, she was the daughter of the late Melvin and Arminta (Durst) Butler. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Carl W. Tharp, in 1988; six brothers; and two sisters.
Mrs. Tharp was a retired waitress from Diamond's Restaurant, Frostburg.
She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, Frostburg.
Surviving are two sons, Tommy Butler, Bel Air, and Roy Dale Tharp, Frostburg; a daughter, Dorothy Bittinger, Grantsville; 19 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Fay Butler, Baltimore; two sisters, Fern Fitzpatrick, Grantsville, and JoAnn Resh, Springs, Pa.
Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, P.A., 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Ron Boyce officiating.
Interment will be in the Rest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
MARTHA A. WILSON
LONACONING - Martha Anna (Winters) Wilson, 85, of the Moran Manor Nursing Home, Westernport, formerly of Buskirk Hollow, Gilmore, Frostburg, died Friday, Aug. 27, 1999, at the nursing home, where she had been a resident for 11 years.
Born July 2, 1914, in Ocean, she was a daughter of the late William Winters and Theresa (Trapp) Winters. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Robert A. Wilson; two sons, Robert William Wilson and Thomas Andrew Wilson; a daughter, Angela Gallagher; three sisters; and a brother.
Mrs. Wilson was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Midland, and the Sodality of the church.
Surviving are two daughters, Betsy Jones, Lonaconing, and Sally Weimer, Lonaconing; two sisters, Rose Mansfield, Baltimore, and Angela Knieriem, Myersdale, Pa.; two brothers, Leonard Winters, Hagerstown, and Richard Winters, Devlin Manor Nursing Home, Cumberland; 14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the Eichhorn-McKenzie Funeral Home, P.A., Lonaconing, Sunday, Aug. 29, 1999, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
A Christian Wake Service will be held at the funeral home Monday at 8:15 a.m. with Sister Joan Maenner, OSF Pastoral Life Director, officiating.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph's Catholic Church Monday, Aug. 30, 1999, at 9 a.m.
Interment will be in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Midland.

WILLIAM F. RADCLIFF
CUMBERLAND - William F. Radcliff, 75, of Uhl Highway, Cumberland, died Monday, Nov. 15, 1999, at Martinsburg Veterans Hospital.
Born Nov. 18, 1923, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Okey and Minnie (Maffley) Radcliff. He also was preceded in death by two sons, William F. Radcliff and Bobby Radcliff; and one brother, Robert Radcliff.
Mr. Radcliff was a retired furniture mover for the Petry Company in New Jersey. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving with the Third Infantry in Europe during World War II. He was a member of the Mapleside United Methodist Church.
Surviving are Betty Servis; three daughters, Deborah Bray and husband Timothy, Laurel, Brenda Thomas, Meadowslands, Pa., and Peggy VanMeter; four sisters, Louella Bryant and husband Thomas, Shirley Helmick, Margaret Holiday, and Betty Miller and husband Eugene, all of Cumberland; two granddaughters, Heather and Nicole VanMeter, both of Cumberland; and several nieces and nephews. He resided with his niece, Carolyn "Sue" Wigfield.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Wednesday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted there Thursday at 12 p.m. with the Rev. Charles Riggleman officiating.
Interment will be in the Mount Hermon Cemetery. Graveside military honors will be accorded by the Combined Veterans Honor Guard.
Pallbearers will be Bill Dolan Sr., John Maffley Jr., Donald Brant, Bill Rawnsley, Eric Miller and Ronnie Lewis.
MARGARET E. RAFFERTY
CHURCHVILLE - Margaret E. "Doll" Rafferty, 81, of Churchville, formerly of Frostburg, died Wednesday, Oct. 27, 1999, at Harford Memorial Hospital, Havre de Grace.
Born June, 29, 1918, in Frostburg, she was the daughter of the late Adam and Clara "Michael" Brode. She also was preceded in death by two husbands, John Brady and Lawrence O. Rafferty; three sisters, Olga Bush, Juanita Spiker and Janice Phillips; and three brothers, Edgar, Francis, and Paul Brode.
Mrs. Rafferty was retired from the housekeeping department at Charlie's Motel, Frostburg.
She was a member of Saint Michael's Catholic Church, Frostburg.
Surviving are three daughters, Shirley Brady Krantz, Havre de Grace, Nancy Webb, Churchville, and Thereasa "Liz" McKenzie, Frostburg; a son, James Brady, Havre de Grace; a sister, Phyllis Lancaster, Frostburg; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, P.A., 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Fr. Paul Byrnes and Rev. T. William Preston, officiating.
Interment will be in the Brode Family Cemetery, Frostburg.
