JAMES D. WARDEN
LAVALE - James D. Warden, 66, of Sangston Drive S.W., LaVale, died Sunday, March 14, 1999, in Egle Nursing Home, Lonaconing.
Born in Cumberland on Feb. 5, 1933, he was the son of the late Samuel Rathen Warden and Bessie B. (Broadwater) Warden Sangston. He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise Frances (Hansen) Warden, on Feb. 1, 1999; a brother, William Warden; and a sister, Betty Garlitz.
Mr. Warden was a member of the Haystack Mountain Sportsman Club, the Cresaptown Eagles Aerie #2883, and the Salisbury V.F.W. He was a retired Veteran, having been an Airman First Class of the U.S. Air Force, serving during the Korean Conflict.
He is survived by a daughter, Diane Louise Weinstein and her husband, Daniel, of Murrieta, Calif; and one son, Michael W. Warden, Huntington, W.Va.; three grandchildren, Joey, Natalie and James Garrett Weinstein, all of Murrieta; and a sister-in-law, Catherine Warden, Cresaptown.
Friends will be received in the Hafer Chapel of the Hills Mortuary, 1302 National Highway, LaVale, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Cresaptown Eagles Aerie #2883 will conduct a memorial service on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted in the funeral home on Thursday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Harold R. McClay Jr. officiating.
Interment will follow in the Rocky Gap Veterans Cemetery. Military rites will be accorded at the cemetery by the Combined Veterans Honor Guard.
Pallbearers will be Jim Smith, Ronnie Grabenstein, Scotty Orr and Richard Holbrock.
EDNA MAE WILT
GRANTSVILLE - Edna Mae Wilt, 72, of 96 Miner Road, Grantsville, died Monday, March 22, 1999, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland.
Born April 9, 1926, in Piedmont, she was a daughter of the late Gorman and Pearl (Broadwater) Broadwater. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ivan Wilt, on March 7, 1970; and two sons, Garland Oakey Wilt and George Schurg.
Mrs. Wilt was a homemaker and attended Maranatha Assembly of God, Grantsville.
She is survived by a son, Kenneth E. Wilt and wife, Nancy, Garrett, Pa.; three brothers, Homer Broadwater and Russell Broadwater, both of Barton, Fred Broadwater, Arizona; three sisters, Viola Broadwater, LaVale, Bernice Guinn, Barton, Helen Thomas, Glen Burnie; 12 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., Grantsville, on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted in the funeral home on Thursday at 2 p.m. with Pastor Bob Furr officiating.
Interment will be in Bittinger Cemetery.
JULIAN F. SCHONTER II
CUMBERLAND - Julian F. Schonter, II, died at the Lutharn Hospital, Sept. 28, 1999.
Born Sept. 27, 1942, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Julian F. Schonter I and Hilda Collins Smith.
Mr. Schonter was a member of the Catholic Church and attended school at St. Peters and Pauls, LaSalle Inst. and graduated from Fort Hill High School.
He worked for the District Courts in Washington and later moved to Dallas.
In addition to his son, Julian F. III, (Trey), he leaves behind three sisters, Judith Rosemarkle, of Fla., Julia Schonter, of Cumberland, and Celeste Owens, of Berryville, Va.; three brothers, Charles Schonter, Lawrence Schonter, and Lloyd Schonter, all of Fairfax County, Va.; and his step-mother, Irene Silberski, of Cumberland; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Memorial services for family and friends will be Oct. 8, at 11 a.m. at the St. Peters and Pauls Catholic Church, 125 Fayette St., Cumberland.
MARCELLE S. RECKLEY
TURNERSVILLE, N.J. - Marcelle Shaffer Reckley, age 84, of Turnersville, formerly of Spring Gap, Md., died on Saturday, Jan. 9, 1999, at her home in Turnersville.
Born July 20, 1914, in Hyndman, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Otis and Bessie Shaffer Harden.
She was a member of Davis Memorial United Methodist Church, Cumberland, Md. She was a 1933 graduate of Hyndman High School, Hyndman. She married
the late Rev. Charles S. "Jim" Reckley on April 14, 1934, at Baltimore, Md. Together they pastored Davis Memorial United Methodist Church at North Branch near Cumberland, the Morgan Charge at Berkeley Springs, W.Va., for 10 years, the Jefferson County Circuit, living at Summit Point, W.Va., the Paw Paw Charge at Paw Paw, W.Va., and the Midland Charge near Frostburg, Md. Their last move before retirement was a return to Morgan Charge in Berkeley Springs. In 1969 they returned to Spring Gap and home. At this time they continued to serve at Mount Zion United Methodist Church at Orleans Crossroads, W.Va. At the Rev. Charles S. Reckley's death, Mrs. Reckley was licensed by the Baltimore, Md., Conference and continued to pastor Mount Zion United Methodist Church from 1974 to 1989. In 1993, with failing health, she moved to Turnersville to be with her daughter. She has been a homemaker in recent years.
Surviving are one daughter, Faith Elaine Reckley Munson, Turnersville; three grandchildren, Todd Reckley Munson, Groton, Conn., Sarah Munson Goldfinch, Pine Hill, N.J., Laura Ann Munson, Turnersville; four great-grandchildren, Mark Cinque, Turnersville, Zachry Paul, Joseph Todd and Dominick William Munson, all of Groton; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Charles S. "Jim" Reckley on Nov. 3, 1973; one sister, Helen Harden Beal; and one brother, Elmer Otis Harden.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 14, 1999, at Davis Memorial United Methodist Church, 14300 Uhl Highway, Cumberland, with Pastor Ted Higby and Pastor William Merki officiating.
Interment will be in Davis Memorial United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday at the Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, 306 Union St., Berkeley Springs, where there will be a prayer service at 3 p.m. The family will receive friends at the church on Thursday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The funeral home will be open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Wednesday for the convenience of friends.

ANNIE T. STEWART
FROSTBURG - Annie T. Stewart, 80, of 100 Honeysuckle Lane, Frostburg, formerly of Lonaconing, died Friday, Dec. 24, 1999, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland.
Born Dec. 20, 1919, at Lonaconing, she was the daughter of the late John and Lily E. (Swach) Stewart.
Miss Stewart was Presbyterian by faith. She formerly worked at the Celanese Fibers Corporation, Cresaptown, and Coffman-Fisher of Lonaconing.
Surviving are two brothers, Charles Stewart and Earl Stewart, both of Frostburg.
At Annie's request, she was cremated. There will be no visitation.
Graveside memorial services will be conducted at the Laurel Hill Cemetery, Moscow Mills, on Wednesday, Dec. 29 at 11 a.m.
Boal Funeral Homes, Lonaconing, are in charge of arrangements.
DR. THOMAS F. REDICK
FROSTBURG - Dr. Thomas F. Redick, 77, of Frostburg, died Thursday, Jan. 21, 1999, at the Morristown Memorial Hospital, Morristown, N.J.
Born Oct. 20, 1921, in Youngstown, Ohio, he was the son of the late Thomas and Hannah (Thomas) Redick. He also was preceded in death by his first spouse, Patricia (Coughenhouer) Redick; a brother, James Redick; and a sister, Margaret Reebal.
Dr. Redick was a retired Professor Emeritus at Frostburg State University. He was a professor of anatomy, physiology and biology at the university from 1966 to 1994. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he had received two Purple Hearts while serving in the 507 Paratrooper Division. Dr. Redick was a graduate of Bordman High School in Bordman, Ohio. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in biology from Miami University in Ohio. He received his Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy degrees from the University of Pittsburgh.
A member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Frostburg, he was a member of the Poetry Group, and an honorary member of the Spanish Honor Society at FSU. An avid sailor, Dr. Redick was a member of the Deep Creek Yacht Club at Deerhaven. He also was a member of the Phi Delta Theta Social Fraternity.
Surviving are his wife, Winifred R. (Fresh) Clayton Redick; a son, Samuel Redick and wife Marilyn Altoff, M.D., of Medham, N.J.; a stepson, Kirk W. Clayton and wife Tracie, Cumberland; a stepdaughter, Jill W. Clayton, Cumberland; a mother-in-law, Winifred Fresh, Cumberland; two grandsons, Dustin Clayton and Brian Redick; two granddaughters, Sarah Redick and Brooke Rice; a special niece, Elizabeth Duckworth; and several other nieces and nephews.
At Dr. Redick's request, his body was cremated.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Tuesday, Jan. 26, from 7 to 9 p.m.
A memorial service will be conducted at St. John's Episcopal Church on Wednesday, Jan. 27, at 11 a.m. with Father Thomas Staup, church rector, officiating.
