HERMAN R. STEWART
MT. SAVAGE - Herman Roy Stewart, 94, of 1853 Scrubgrass Road, Jackson Center, Pa., formerly of Mt. Savage, died Friday at United Community Hospital, Pine Township, Pa.
Born Aug. 11, 1905, in Flintstone, he was the son of the late Santford Stewart and Mazie Stewart Lashley. He is also preceded in death by his wife, Amy Louise Aldridge; son, Robert Stewart; two sisters, Leah and Grace Stewart; brother, Frank Stewart; and grandson, Phillip Fisher.
Mr. Stewart was self-employed as a Diesel Mechanic. He was a member of Mt. Savage Methodist Church. Attended Springfield United Presbyterian Church, last member of Mt. Savage Volunteer Fire Department, Maryland State Hook-up Champs 1940-1941, and member of Mt. Savage Hall of Fame.
Surviving are daughters, Helen wife of George Turley, of College Park, Lois wife of Charles Patton, of Silver Spring, Mary Lee wife of John Fisher, of New Albany, IN; a son, Roy Stewart; a sister, Pearl Farrell, of Mt. Savage; 12 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Friends may call the Durst Funeral Home, 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. George Harpold of Eckhart Methodist Church, officiating.
Interment will be in the Mt. Methodist Cemetery, Mt. Savage.
LESTER L. WHITACRE
BURTONSVILLE - Lester L. Whitacre, of Burtonsville, died Sunday, Nov, 14, 1999.
Surviving are his wife, June C. Whitacre; three sons, Jerry, Robert and Tim; two daughters, Becky Whitacre and Peggy Finger; one brother, Robert Whitacre, and three grandchildren, Justin Finger, Ryan and Ashley Whitacre.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Hines Rinaldi Funeral Home, 11800 New Hampshire Ave., Silver Spring.
Interment was held at the Quantico National Cemetery.

OLIVER "OLLIE" SULSER
BULLARD, Texas - Oliver "Ollie" Sulser, 76, of Bullard, formerly of Cumberland, Md., died Monday, June 7, 1999, in Bullard.
He was born Aug. 26, 1922, in Purgitsville, W.Va., a son of the late Charles and Regina Sulser.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Dallas Sulser.
Mr. Sulser was a member of the Emmanuel Bethel United Methodist Church, Cumberland. He was a member of the Methodist Men.
He retired from the Kelly-Springfield Tire Company, Cumberland, as a truck driver. Mr. Sulser served in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific during World War II.
Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Katherine Sulser, Cumberland; a son and daughter-in-law, John and Margie Sulser, Bullard; four daughters and sons-in-law, Sondra and Alton Brown, Chapel Hill, Patricia and Richard Abe, Wiley Ford, W.Va., Mary and Cleates Dolly, Romney, W.Va., Louise and Wayne Carder, Longview; 12 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Lloyd James Funeral Home, 1011 E. First St., Tyler. Services will be conducted at the First Baptist Church, Gresham, Thursday, June 10, at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Roy Thoene officiating.
Interment will be in the Tyler Memorial Park.
MURIEL J. REUSCHEL
CUMBERLAND - Muriel J. Reuschel, 72, of Cumberland, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 13, 1999.
Born June 27, 1926, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Paul Sullivan and Matilda (Rowe) Sullivan Robertson. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, August 'Buck' Robertson, July 28, 1981; and two step-brothers, Arnold Robertson and Millard D. (Mitz) Robertson.
Mrs. Reuschel was the former owner of Buck's Blue Room and was part owner of Automotive Supply Company Inc. She was a Born Again Christian, a member of Highland Baptist Church, and was a past member of the Sweet Adalines.
Surviving are her husband, George 'Bill' Reuschel; three daughters, Linda Rae Brockey and husband, Jerry, Bonnie J. Meagher, and Cheryl L. Sioma and husband, Pete, all of Cumberland; two step-daughters, Linda L. Torbet and husband, John, Fort Ashby, W.Va., and Georgia A. Holler and husband, Steve, Oakland; two step-sons, Michael Reuschel and wife, Karen, Cumberland, David Reuschel and wife, Jackie, Patterson Creek, W.Va.; two sisters, Dr. J. Eileen Burns and husband, Rick, Philadelphia, Pa., and Paula J. Fisher, Cumberland; 13 grandchildren, Cheri Galliher, Tracy Stewart, Lisa Moreland, Michelle Stanley, Deena Helmstetter, Cathy Sioma, Gina Sioma, Christopher Sioma, Chrystal Ebert, Michelle Torbert, Stephanie Holler, Michael Reuschel Jr., and William David Reuschel; and four great-grandchildren, Jordon, Olivia, Ethan and Chace.
Friends will be received at Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home Monday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Jack W. Lancaster and the Rev. Bernard A. Yost officiating.
Interment will be in Davis Memorial Cemetery, Cumberland.

JAMES E. SWAUGER SR.
LAVALE - James E. Swauger Sr., 61, of Harold Street, LaVale, died Saturday, Feb. 20, 1999, in Sacred Heart Hospital.
He was born on July 23, 1937, in New Germany, Md., the son of the late Leland R. and Blanche (Layman) Swauger. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Robert L. Swauger and Walter A. Swauger.
Mr. Swauger was a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church, Lonaconing, and was a veteran, having served with the U.S. Air Force. He was a graduate of Frostburg State Teachers College and received his master's degree from West Virginia University. He was a retired school teacher, having taught at Northeast Elementary and for 33 years at Oldtown School. He was a member of the D.A.V. of Cumberland, V.F.W. Post #6667, Fort Ashby, Georges Creek Valley Lodge #161 A.F. & A.M., Scottish Rite Bodies of Cumberland, Ali Ghan Shrine Temple, Piney Mountain Sportsman's Club, and Haystack Mountain Sportsman's Club.
Survivors include his wife, Peggy (Wills) Swauger; a son, James E. Swauger Jr. and wife, Lisa, LaVale; a daughter, K. Renae Swauger Holt and husband, John, Frostburg; a sister, Marjorie S. Mangus and husband, Claude, Fayetteville, N.C.; two brothers, Leland J. Swauger Jr., Sears, Mich., and Tom Swauger and wife, Marcia, Bowie; two grandchildren, Kevin Drew and Mallory Drew, both of LaVale; brother-in-law, Robbie Robison and wife, Janice, Cresaptown; sisters-in-law, Jean Swauger, Grantsville, and Helen Swauger, New Boston, Mich.; and 14 nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Hafer Chapel of the Hills Mortuary, 1302 National Highway, LaVale, on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted in the St. Peter's Episcopal Church, Lonaconing, on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Leslie R. Miles officiating.
Interment will follow in Grantsville Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded at graveside by the American Legion Post #214, Grantsville.
Masonic Services will be conducted in the funeral home on Monday at 7:30 p.m.

CYNTHIA K. STEGMAIER
FROSTBURG - Cynthia Kay Stegmaier, 41, of Frostburg, died Friday, Feb. 26, 1999, at her residence.
Born Oct. 21, 1957, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of Violet (Brobst) Boore, Cumberland, and the late George Earl Boore. She also was preceded in death by her grandparents.
Mrs. Stegmaier was a homemaker. She was a 1976 graduate of Fort Hill High School and a graduate of Tri-State Beauty Academy and was a licensed cosmetologist. She was a Methodist by faith and a member of Cumberland Eagles Ladies Auxiliary. She liked to paint and liked photography.
Surviving in addition to her mother are her husband, Michael L. Stegmaier; one daughter, Ginger Dawn Stegmaier, Cumberland; three sisters, Karen Ridenour and husband Butch, Fort Ashby, W.Va., Janice Gulden and husband Robert, Odenton, and Beth Little and husband Ron, Herndon, Va.; a number of nieces and nephews; and several aunts and uncles in Hagerstown.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Mildred Martin officiating.
IVA IRENE STANTON
GRANTSVILLE - Iva Irene Stanton, 85, of 210 Main St., Grantsville, died Friday, Feb. 12, 1999, at her residence.
Born June 27, 1913, in Jennings, she was a daughter of the late Daniel and Sadie (Beitzel) Klotz. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Cecil William Stanton, on April 4, 1950.
Mrs. Stanton was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Grantsville. She was a bank employee of the former First State Bank and Liberty Trust Company.
She is survived by a son, Daniel E. Stanton, Grantsville; a sister, Ruth Newman, Grantsville; and a grandson, Todd Stanton, Sharpsburg.
Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., Grantsville, on Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at Christ Lutheran Church on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. David E. Fetter officiating. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to services.
Interment will be in Grantsville Cemetery.
