DOROTHY M. PAPPAS
Dorothy Marie Pappas, 77, Frostburg and Beckman's Peninsula, Deep Creek Lake, died Tuesday, June 13, 2000, at Garrett County Memorial Hospital, Oakland.
Born Sept. 18, 1922, in Scottsdale, Pa., she was a daughter of the late George and Martha (Donius) Schurg. She was also preceded in death by six brothes, Harry, Francis, John, Pete, Elmer, and George Schurg, and one sister, Alverna Eckard.
She and her husband were former owners of the Princess Restaurant, Frostburg. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and the American Legion Auxiliary Farrady Unit 24.
Survivors include her husband, George Pappas Jr.; one daughter, JoAnn Tenny, Frostburg; two sons, George William Pappas and Richard Pappas, both of Frostburg; eight grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; two brothers, Carl Schurg, Vale Summit, and Eugene Schurg, Frostburg; and two sisters, Pearl Wiland, Potomac Park, and Helen Andrews, Cumberland.
Friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral Home, 60 W. Main Street, Frostburg, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today, Thursday. American Legion Auxiliary Farrady Unit 24 will conduct a memorial service at the funeral home at 7:30 p.m. this evening.
A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday, June 16, at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Michael Tamorria officiating. Interment will be in Frostburg Memorial Park.

DONNA J. WALKER
Donna Jean Walker, 36, Gaithersburg, died Monday, June 12, 2000, from injuries she sustained in an automobile accident in Gaithersburg.
Born Nov. 12, 1963, in Cumberland, she was a daughter of Mildred K. "Midge" (Wolfe) Folk, Cumberland, and the late Glen Donald Folk.
She was a member of Memorial Heights Baptist Church, Cumberland, and a 1981 graduate of Fort Hill High School. She was a secretary for the law office of Edward H. Kerman in Rockville.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her former husband, Elmer J. Walker, Baltimore; one daughter, Elaine Walker, Baltimore; one sister, Lori L. Beegle, Bedford, Pa.; a half-sister, Glenda Riddle, Baldwin; a stepbrother, Dennis L. Wolfe, Bloomington; and her fiancé, Julio Soca, Gaithersburg.
Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today, Thursday. A service will be conducted at Memorial Heights Baptist Church on Friday, June 16, at 10 am., with the Rev. Dennis A. Michael officiating. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.

BRYAN W. BARNARD
Bryan W. "Barney" Barnard, 79, Swanton, died Saturday, June 10, 2000, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland.
Born Dec. 18, 1920, in Swanton, he was a son of the late William H. and Bertha Ollie (Paugh) Barnard. He was also preceded in death by two sistesr, Hope and Marine, and one foster brother, George Paugh.
He was Methodist by faith. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He served three years in the Tank Destroyer Division. He fought in five major battles.
He retired from the Westvaco Corporation with 38 yers in the maintenance department. He was a 50-year member of Kelly-Mansfield Post 52 American Legion, and a member of the Last Man's Club.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy "Dot" (Biggs) Barnard; one son, William R. Barnard, Swanton; two daughters, Brenda O'Brien, Swanton, and Karen Reckner, Oakland; one brother, Norman Barnard, Davis, W.Va.; one sister, Bernice Butler, New Paris, Pa.; and three grandchildren.
Friends were received at the Fredlock Funeral Home, Piedmont, W.Va., where a service was conducted Tuesday, June 13, with the Rev. Donald Nelson officiating.
Interment was in the Barnard Family Cemetery, Swanton. Military honors were accorded at the cemetery by members of the various veterans organizations.

JAMES SMITH
James Smith, 88, Kitzmiller, died Tuesday, June 13, 2000, at the Cuppett-Weeks Nursing Home, Oakland.
Born June 7, 1912, in Sulphur, W.Va., he was the son of the late Charles and Minnie (Harvey) Smith. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Marie (Moon) Smith.
He was a retired coal miner.
Survivors include two sons, Neil Smith, Virginia Beach, Va., and Gene Smith, Kearneysville, W.Va.; two sisters, Sarah Copeland, Waldorf, and Elsie Brown, Keyser, W.Va.; four grandchildren; and three great-grand-children.
Friends will be received at the David A. Burdock Funeral Home, Kitzmiller, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A service will be conducted in the funeral home chapel on Saturday, June 17, at 1 p.m., with the Rev. Donald Marple officiating.
Interment will be in the IOOF Cemetery, Elk Garden, W.Va.
LAWRENCE E. IDLEMAN
Lawrence Elwood Idleman, 80, Elk Garden, W.Va., died Tuesday, June 13, 2000, at Garrett County Memorial Hospital, Oakland.
Born Sept. 14, 1919, in Hartmansville, W.Va., he was the son of the late Francis and Cynthia (Mackley) Idleman. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Alice Jean (Faulk) Idleman.
He was a retired farmer, and retired as a field agent for the West Virginia Soil Conservation Agency. He was a former member of the Mineral County (W.Va.) Board of Education, a member of the Sulphur Methodist Church, and a Sunday School teacher for 20 years.
Survivors include one son, David Idleman, Elk Garden; two daughters, Karen Howard, Swanton, and Rebecca Glotfelty, LaVale; two sisters, Bernice Idleman and Audrey Hahn, both of Mountain Lake Park; and five grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the David A. Burdock Funeral Home, Kitzmiller, from 7 to 9 p.m. today, Thursday. A service will be conducted at the Sulphur Methodist Church on Friday, June 16, at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Charles Arnold officiating. Interment will be in the Kalbaugh Cemetery, Elk Garden.
JOAN L. RAYNOVICH
Joan Lee Raynovich, 69, Oakland, died Wednesday, May 31, 2000, at her home.
Born Feb. 23, 1931, in Kitzmiller, she was a daughter of the late Terrance "Pat" and June (Bray) O'Donnell.
She retired from Bell Atlantic after 32 years of service. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, a committee member of the Kitzmiller School Reunion, and a member of the Proctor Kildow American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Oakland, and the Eastern Orthodox Church.
Survivors include her husband, Theodore Raynovich; one stepson, Theodore Raynovich, Oakland; one stepdaughter, Helen Fowler, Oakland; one brother, Fred Downey, Westernport; two sisters Joy Rae Brown, Cumberland, and Reba Yukon, Baltimore; and three step-grandchildren.
Friends were received at the David A. Burdock Funeral Home, Kitzmiller, where a service was conducted Saturday, June 3, with Father Dennis officiating. Interment was in the IOOF Cemetery, Elk Garden, W.Va.

IRA V. FADELEY
Ira V. Fadeley, 62, Frostburg, died Thursday, June 1, 2000, at his home, following a lengthy illness.
Born June 23, 1937, in Frostburg, he was a son of the late Melvin and Ruth (McKenzie) Fadeley. He was also preceded in death by one brother, James Fadeley, and a sister, Phoebe Spataro.
He was retired from the Garrett County Roads Department as a heavy equipment mechanic. He also owned and operated school buses and was a driver for more than 37 years. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Pocahontas.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley (Sell) Fadeley; two sons, John Fadeley, Frostburg, and Jason Fadeley, Finzel; three daughters, Ruth A. Bridges, Elizabeth, Pa., and Angela M. Austin and Kristie D. Yutzy, both of Finzel; 11 grandchildren; two brothers, John Fadeley, Finzel, and David Leo Fadeley, Eckhart; and one sister, Dixie Geis, Long Stretch, Frostburg.
Friends were received at the Hafer Funeral Home, Frostburg, where a service was conducted Monday, June 5, with the Rev. Father Bernard White officiating. Interment was in the Emmanuel Methodist Cemetery, Finzel.

CHARLES F. SCHREIBER JR.
Charles F. Schreiber Jr., U.S. Navy, retired, 64, Mtn. Lake Park, died Sunday, May 28, 2000, at the Veterans Administration Hospital, Aspinwall, Pa., following a lengthy illness.
Born April 23, 1936, in Pittsburgh, he was a son of the late Charles Frederick Schreiber Sr. and Dorothy May (Trask) Schreiber.
He retired from the U.S. Navy as a petty officer first class with 29 years of service. He lived in Mtn. Lake Park since 1986 and was a member of the American Legion post in Oakland.
Survivors include his former wife, Benjre Neff, Waynesburg, Pa.; two sons, Randy Schreiber, Waynesburg, and Dennis P. Schreiber, Ventura, Calf.; two sisters, Darryle Schramm, Waynesburg, and Nancy Ellenson, Dunedin, Fla.; and one brother, Dennis N. Schreiber, Henderson, Nev.
The funeral service and interment, under the direction of the Behm Funeral Home, Waynesburg, were private.
MARY C. GERRONE
Mary C. (Moats) Helbig Gerrone, 72, Avon Lake, Ohio, formerly of Hutton, died Tuesday, May 16, 2000, at the New Life Hospice Center, St. Joseph, Ohio, following a lengthy illness.
Born April 5, 1928, in Hutton, she was the daughter of the late Marshall and Eva (Pifer) Moats. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Thomas Helbig, and four brothers, Earl, Carl, Homer, and Marshall Moats.
She retired in 1996 as a nurse's aid at the Silver Leaf Assisted Living Home, Avon. Prior to that, she worked for many years as a home health aide. She was an associate member of the Lake Shore United Methodist Church, Avon Lake, and the TOPS Club, Avon.
Survivors include her husband of 41 years, Angelo Gerrone; one son, Patrick "Leon" Helbig, Wakeman, Ohio, and Jeffrey Gerrone, Sheffield Lake, Ohio; one daughter, Frances Prickett, Stuarts Draft, Va.; one brother, George Moats, Tequesta, Fla.; and six grandsons.
Friends were received at the Busch-Burmeister Family Chapel, Avon Lake. A funeral service was conducted at the Lake Shore United Methodist Church, Avon Lake, on Friday, May 19, with the Rev. William Grant officiating. Interment was in Lakewood Park Cemetery, Rocky River, Ohio.

WILLIAM J. FRANTZ
William Jackson "Jack" Frantz, 63, Friendsville, died Monday, June 5, 2000, at his home.
Born Oct. 17, 1936, in Friendsville, he was the son of Gladys (Humberson) Frantz, Friendsville, and the late Merle Frantz.
He received a bachelor of science degree from Frostburg State University and also held a master's degree. He was a retired science teacher from Northern High School, a member of the Blooming Rose United Methodist Church, a member of the Maryland State Retired Teachers' Association, a U.S. Army veteran, an Eagle Scout, and held a summer employment with the National ParksService in the western United States and Alaska.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by one sister, Thelma Humberson, Friendsville.
Friends were received at the Newman Funeral Home, Friendsville. A service was conducted earlier today, June 8, at the Blooming Rose United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Robert Milliren officiating. Interment followed in the Blooming Rose Cemetery.
