LELA ETHEL STAGGS
LAVALE - Lela Ethel (Alt) Staggs, 96, of LaVale, died Tuesday, Feb. 9, 1999, in Devlin Manor Nursing Home.
She was born on Sept. 4, 1902, in Upper Tract, W.Va., the daughter of the late Charles Harrison Alt and Rebecca Margaret (Judy) Alt. She was also preceded in death by five sisters, Dorothy Evan Niner, Myrtle Yokum, Goldie Simmons, Nellie Mason and Mayme Carskadon; and four brothers, Edgar Alt, Homer Alt, Fred Alt and Russell Alt.
Mrs. Staggs was a member of the LaVale Baptist Church. She served as a trustee of the church, and had worked out of her home as a self-employed seamstress.
Surviving are her daughter, Lela Virginia Jewell, Queen City Towers, Cumberland; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Staggs was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Friends will be received at the Hafer Chapel of the Hills Mortuary, 1302 National Highway, LaVale, on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted in the funeral home on Friday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Doug Strother officiating.
Interment will follow in the Mineral Baptist Church Cemetery.
ROSE V. YEAGER
CUMBERLAND - Rose Virginia Yeager, 90, of Potomac Park, died Friday, April 30, 1999, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born June 11, 1908, in Providence, R.I., she was the daughter of the late Wilbert L. and Mary Jane (Spence) Mowen. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Clark 'Ike' Yeager; and two sisters, Elsie (Mowen) Blubaugh and Frances (Mowen) Hornbrook.
Mrs. Yeager was retired from the Bobbin Stores Department of the Amcelle Part of the Celanese Corporation. She was a member of the First Wesleyan Church, Cresaptown. She taught Sunday School for a number of years until her health would no longer permit her to do so. She was a long time member of the First Church of the Nazarene, Oldtown Road, Cumberland. She was a 1926 graduate of the old Allegany County High School on Greene Street, Cumberland.
Surviving are one daughter, Virginia (Yeager) Jewell and husband, Donald 'Bud,' Cresaptown; three grandchildren, Nancy J. Theofel and husband, Robert, Cooper City, Fla., LuAnn Wharton and husband, Paul, Flintstone, and Richard Cole, Cresaptown; two step-grandchildren, Maeda Krizmencic and husband, Paul, Denver, Pa., Eileen Schoenadel and husband, Mike, and family, Ephrita, Pa.; four great-granddaughters, Kimberly Johnson and husband, Mike, Cresaptown, Brenda Powalie and husband, Erik, Myrtle Beach, S.C., Keilly Tyson, Hagerstown, and Nicole Mullen, Smithsburg; three step-great-grandchildren, Samantha, Amie and Dylan Krizmencic, all of Denver, Pa.; one great-great-granddaughter, Danielle Johnson, Cresaptown; one step-great-great-granddaughter, Christina Johnson, Cresaptown; one sister, Florence Thompson, Cumberland; one brother, Wilbert Mowen, Cumberland; and a special niece, Betty Smith, Hagerstown.
Friends will be received at Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., Cresaptown, Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at First Wesleyan Church, Cresaptown, Sunday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Kevin T. Lowery officiating. Friends will also be received one hour prior to the service at the church.
Interment will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Cumberland.
Pallbearers will be Paul Wharton Jr., Michael Johnson, Richard Cole, Paul Krizmencic, John Hutzell and John Hutzell Jr.
She will be missed!
ALICE P. RIGGLEMAN
CUMBERLAND - Alice Pearl Riggleman, 93, of Springdale Street, Cumberland, died Sunday, Sept. 12, 1999, at Memorial Hospital.
Born Feb. 12, 1906, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Thomas E. and Grace (Hensel) Brown. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph L. Riggleman, who died May 22, 1970; her son, Donald Riggleman; and two brothers.
Mrs. Riggleman was a homemaker. She was a former member of the Sunshine Club, Cumberland, and an avid bingo player.
Surviving are two sons, Kenneth L. Riggleman and wife Gerry, Oldtown, and M. Eugene Riggleman and wife Pat, Spring, Texas; four daughters, Lorraine Barnhart, Oldtown, Shirley L. Morrison and husband Tom, Deer Lodge, Mont., Jeannette Breighner and husband Art, Cumberland, and Lynda Ruse and husband Carl, Cumberland; 13 grandchildren, Tara Hartsock and husband Craig, James Barnhart, Cheryl Fertitta and husband Vince, Theresa Zikis and husband John, Vanessa Clark, Tom Morrison Jr. and wife Diane, Roberta DeVore and husband Ron, Richard Morrison and wife Angie, Donald Riggleman and wife Jennifer, Todd Riggleman, Krista Thompson and husband Bill, Darin Riggleman and wife Nicki, and Stacey Riggleman; 16 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, Wednesday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home Thursday at 11 a.m. with the Pastor Paul Dietz officiating.
Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park, Cumberland.
Pallbearers will be grandsons.
FRANCES P. WAMSLEY
CRESAPTOWN - Frances P. Wamsley, 85, of Devlin Manor Nursing Home, formerly of Winchester Road, died Sunday, April 18, 1999, at Memorial Hospital.
Born on July 14, 1913, in Keyser, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late George and Bertie (Kimmel) Richards. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, the late Seymour H. "Dick" Wamsley; one son, Richard C. Wamsley Sr.; three brothers, William Richards, Reginald Richards, Eugene Richards; and one sister, Gladys R. McDowell.
A graduate of Keyser High School, she was a member of the Cresaptown United Methodist Church. She was also an avid bowler who participated in the Antique and Cresaptown Senior Citizens Bowling Leagues.
She is survived by one daughter, Peggy Jean Zumpano and husband, Joseph P., Frostburg; one daughter-in-law, Erma L. Wamsley, Winchester Road; one brother, Rolland X. Richards and wife, Annie, Keyser; six grandchildren, Beverly C. Ritchey and husband, Thomas, Altoona, Pa., Terri J. Gleason and husband, Willis, Knobley Road, Doris L. Cason and husband, Rick, Cullman, Ala., Richard C. Wamsley Jr. and wife, Lucy, U.S. Navy, Virginia Beach, Va., JoAnn Croft and husband, James, Cresaptown, Robert J. Norris Jr. and wife, Dorothy, Wardensville, W.Va.; and 20 great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., Cresaptown, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Harold R. McClay Jr. officiating.
Interment will be in Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser.
AURORE T. ST. AMAND
FROSTBURG - Aurore T. St. Amand, 98, of Frostburg Heights Apartments, 100 Honeysuckle Lane, Frostburg, died Monday, April 5, 1999, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born Oct. 21, 1900, in Saint-Paul-de-Chester, Quebec, Canada, she was the daughter of the late Adelarde and Emma (Beauchesne) Gagnon. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Aurele St. Amand; one daughter, Jeannine Riopel; and two sons, Donald and Robert St. Amand.
Surviving are three sons, Philip St. Amand and wife Charlene, Bel Air, Dr. Paul St. Amand and wife Janell, Culver City, Calif., and Raymond St. Amand, Macon, Ga.; one daughter, Lucille O'Malley, West Covina, Calif.; one daughter-in-law, Becky St. Amand, Amesbury, Mass.; 19 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
There will be no visitation in Frostburg.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Amesbury, Mass., on Friday at 11 a.m.
Interment will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery, Amesbury.
The Sowers Funeral Home, P.A., Frostburg, is in charge of arrangements.

RICHARD NOEL RIGGLEMAN
LAVALE - Richard Noel Riggleman, 67, of LaVale, died Tuesday, May 18, 1999, at his residence following a lingering illness.
Born Feb. 7, 1932, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late John and Eva (Sherman) Riggleman. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Ray and Tommy Riggleman.
Mr. Riggleman retired from the United States Navy. He was a veteran of three wars: World War II, the Korean Conflict, and Vietnam. He served in the Occupational Forces in Germany when he was just 13. He was in Ripley's famous 'Believe It or Not' column because he had joined the Army when he was 13, served a four-year hitch, and was discharged at the age of 17. He then joined the U.S. Navy, where he served for 20 years.
He was Protestant by faith, a member of the Maplehurst Country Club, Frostburg, Fort Washington Post #2, Disabled American Veterans, Cumberland, and the Cumberland Moose Lodge #271. Mr. Riggleman was also an avid golfer, a gardener, and a superb cook.
Surviving are his wife, Jackie (Lewis) Riggleman; one daughter, Laura (Riggleman) Lewis and husband, Patrick, Inwood, W.Va.; four sisters, Dixie Rhoads, Kingsville, Thelma Frisk, Hawley, Minn., Millie Roach, Cumberland, and Nancy Robinette, Middletown, Conn.; and four brothers, Carl, Merle, Wayne and Joe. He is also survived by one son, Richard Riggleman, Hanover, Pa.; and three daughters, Barbara Smith, Littletown, Pa., Sheila Hook, Stewartstown, Pa., and Terry Mills, North Carolina, by a previous marriage.
Friends will be received at Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A memorial service will be conducted at the funeral home Thursday at 7:30 p.m. by the Disabled American Veterans.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home Saturday at 11 a.m. with Carl Lee Robertson officiating.
Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park, Cumberland. Graveside services will be conducted by Pastor John Lewis.
Graveside military honors will be accorded by the Combined Veterans Honor Guard.
Pallbearers will be Brian Screen, Louis St. Marie, Elmer Marsh, James Eckard, Warren Bendix, Philip Mohler, John Cox and Spin Kenney.
