RUSSELL W. STOVER JR.
MOUNTAIN LAKE PARK - Russell W. Stover Jr., 71, of Pensinger Blvd., Mountain Lake Park, died Sunday, Nov. 7, 1999, at the Dennett Road Manor Nursing Home, Oakland.
Born March 15, 1928, near Oakland, he was the son of the late Russell W. Stover Sr., and Edna M. (Beckman) Stover. He also was preceded in death by one sister, Rebecca Thomas.
Mr. Stover retired as manager of the Terra Alta Stockyard, Terra Alta, W.Va., He was a graduate of Terra Alta High School and an army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Proctor Kildow Post #71, American Legion, Oakland, and Post #10077 V.F.W., Deer Park.
Surviving are his former wife, Leota P. (Friend) Stover; two daughters, Janie Beitzel, Springs, Pa., and Judy Ann Tran, Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; one son, David R. Stover, Delmont, Pa.; two sisters, Mildred Hardin, Cairo, Ga., and Virginia Field, Mineral Wells, W.Va.; two brothers, W. Dwight Stover Sr., Oakland, and Clifford E. Stover, Manchester; and five grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Stewart Funeral Home, Oakland, Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be held there Thursday, Nov. 11, 1999, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. David Martin officiating.
Interment will be in the Garrett County Memorial Gardens, Oakland.

ANGELA B. STROUP
FRANCONIA, N.H. - Angela B. (Ruppert) Stroup, 71, of 348 Wells Road, died Thursday, Dec. 9, 1999, at home after a lengthy illness.
Born Jan. 5, 1928, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Frederick A. and Caroline (Staarman) Ruppert. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Ira D. Stroup in 1976, and a granddaughter, Kaitlyn Stroup of Franconia, N.H., in 1986.
Mrs. Stroup graduated from Girls Central High School, Cumberland, class of 1947, and the Thompson School of Business, Philadelphia, Pa.
In 1953 she married
Ira D. Stroup, also of Cumberland, and moved to Franconia, N.H. After managing the Horse and Hound Inn in Franconia from 1953, they assumed ownership in 1966, until retiring from innkeeping in 1975. After 1975, Mrs. Stroup worked as a secretary and bookkeeper at various local businesses. In addition, she was the cook at the Old Colony Ski Club in North Woodstock, N.H., for 15 years.
Mrs. Stroup was a former selectwoman for the town of Franconia, a member and lector at Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church, in Franconia, a long time volunteer for Child and Family Services of N.H., and a volunteer at Saint Catherine's Parish food pantry in Lisbon, N.H.
Surviving are her daughters, Mary Ruppert, Martha McLeod, and Jayne O'Conner, all of Franconia, and Katherine Stroup, Lee, N.H.; a son, George Stroup, Franconia; brothers, Thomas Ruppert, LaVale, and Frederick Ruppert, Longbeach, N.C.; sisters, Kathleen Mikowski, Southampton, Pa., Joan Lancaster, LaVale; and nine grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church, Franconia, on January 4, 2000, at 10 a.m.

JAMES T. WHITE
CUMBERLAND - James Thomas White, 90, of Cumberland, died Sunday, Oct. 24, 1999, at Lions Manor Nursing Home.
Born March 5, 1909, in Midland, he was the son of the late John T. and Bridget (Byrne) White. He also was preceded in death by his wife, Betty (Boyd) White, in May 1989. She was the granddaughter of the late Judge A. Hunter Boyd, who was Chief Judge of the Maryland Court of Appeals.
Mr. White attended Saint Patrick's School. He graduated in 1928 from the LaSalle Institute, Cumberland, having been class president for four years. He also attended Catherman's Business School at night.
He was employed by the Times and Alleganian Co. He was a printer, and later promoted to Circulation Manager. He retired in 1974, with approximately 50 years service.
He was a life-long member of Saint Patrick's Catholic Church, and also belonged to the Saint Vincent DePaul Society and was an associate member of the S.S.N.D.
Survivors include one daughter, Elizabeth White, Richmond, Va.; two sisters, Mrs. Charles Edenhart, and Mrs. John F. Powell, both of Cumberland; one nephew whom they reared, Donald Evick and wife, Marie, Rockville; among several other nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Ms. Terry McLarney.
There will be no viewing.
Mass of a Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Patrick's Church on Tuesday at 9 a.m. with the Rev. Thomas Bevan as celebrant. The Rev. Edward C. Chapman, Rector, Emmanuel Episcopal Church, will also participate in the mass.
Interment will be in SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
The Upchurch Funeral Home, P.A., Cumberland, is in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers are Timothy McLarney, John J. McMullen Jr., John Dougherty, John VanMeter, and James Collins. Honorary pallbearers will be J. Donald Murray and Robert L. Ebert.
GRACE V. SWANER
CUMBERLAND - Grace Viola Swaner, 80, of 516 Marshall St., Cumberland, died Sunday, Nov. 7, 1999, at Winchester Medical Center, Winchester, Va.
Born March 3, 1919, in Maysville, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Walter Keplinger and Elizabeth (Reel) Keplinger. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Everett Swaner.
Surviving are three sons, Kenneth Swaner and wife Shirley, Donald Swaner and wife Dianna, and Gary Swaner, all of Winchester, Va.; one daughter, Marilyn Abe, Cumberland; three sisters, Leona Newell, Newark, Ohio, Bessie Bible, Petersburg, W.Va., and Amy Hochard, Cumberland; ten grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Jack Lancaster officiating.
Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
ELIZABETH SCHOPPERT
WESTERNPORT - Elizabeth (Lee) Schoppert, 92, of 311 Maryland Ave., Westernport, formerly of Barton, died Sunday, Sept. 12, 1999, at the Mariner Health at Forest Hill Nursing Home, Bel Air.
Born April 19, 1907, at Lonaconing, she was the daughter of the late John and Nellie (Watkinson) Lee. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Eldridge C. Schoppert, on May 14, 1972.
Mrs. Schoppert was a member of Christ Memorial Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School for several years. She was a Past Matron of Bethlehem Chapter 14 Order of the Eastern Star. She served as Worthy Matron in 1952 and 1981. She was a member of the Past Matrons and Past Patrons Association of the Eastern Star of Maryland. She was a member of the Westernport Senior Citizens.
Surviving are her daughter, Betty Sue Swisher and husband Joe, Aberdeen; a son, Richard C. Schoppert and wife Joann, Palatine, Ill.; four granddaughters; and three great-grandsons.
The family will receive friends at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m.
The funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home chapel Thursday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Meredith Shryock and the Rev. Steffan Carr officiating.
The Order of the Eastern Star will hold a memorial service at the funeral home on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
Interment will be in the Mineral Baptist Cemetery, near Reese's Mill, W.Va.
HENRY SCHUFFERT
CUMBERLAND - Henry Schuffert, 89, of 12914 N. Cresap St., S.W., Cumberland, died Friday, April 23, 1999, at Memorial Hospital.
Born Aug. 29, 1909, in Homestead, Pa., he was the son of the late Henry Schuffert Sr. and the late Katharina Gertrude (Schneider) Schuffert.
Surviving are his wife, Mildred Elsie (Robey) Judd-Schuffert, Cumberland; a stepdaughter, Margaret L. Johnson and husband, Ronald E., Bedford, Pa.; a stepson, James E. Judd and wife, Ethel M., Cumberland; a stepbrother, Walter Schuffert, Industry, Pa.; a sister, Kathryn Rich and husband, Tony, New Castle, Pa.; five step-grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Monday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Services will be conducted on Monday at 11 a.m. at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A.
